Hmm, I'd prefer AMD as a similarly priced intel system is literally half as powerful CPU wise (2200g + board vs Celeron/Pentium gold + board). The end goal for this system is not to be powerful, I want it to just be a NAS, but in the meantime it will be my main server so it can't be too weedy...

I would think 20cm for a4? As you'd need to loop behind the motherboard which is 17cm, unless I'm mistaken with where you want to place the riser.

Not chronodog, but the 2 way risers come in 5, 10, and 20cm ribbon lengths

I did look into those, and then getting m.2 to pcie 4x adapters, but it was just too expensive and large.

Yeah, unless I want to go custom PCB etc etc I guess I'll have to sacrifice the port. If you didn't need a PLX chip you could just split a riser and solder these pins into into here or maybe these, but I guess with a PLX chip it would make it even more difficult than soldering that many tiny...
