Hey guys,
So apparently I made a relatively big mistake when it came to reading the fine print. I was really hoping that I could step up from my EVGA 1080 FTW Gaming ACX 3.0... I had seen that they are releasing their 1080 Ti variant and that's what I wanted. I had to go through and purchase...
Hello!
I just built a new computer using the MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard, which uses Realtek HD audio. My speaker setup is using the Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 Surround Sound, however I'm not utilizing the rear speakers. I connected the Central / Subwoofer connector to where it is...
Hey guys,
This was the build someone had pieced together for me, however I made a few tweaks. What do you think? Questions at bottom.

CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg)

Just as the title says. I'm able to build a new machine. My budget is somewhere between $1200-$1500, but I have some wiggle room if it is worth it.
My current build is approximately 5-6 years old, and consists of the following:
Intel i5-2500k OC @ 4GHz
16gb DDR3 1866mem
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4G...
I've been having an ongoing problem with my Verizon FiOS wireless router. It seems when I first connect a device wirelessly to the network, everything will work fine. However, after a brief period of inactivity, the devices will appear connected however they will be unable to communicate with...
Hey guys,
So after troubleshooting the previous audio issues I've had with my headset, they were resolved by moving the USB headset from the USB3 port on front to a USB2 port on back. I believe they were using the same bus as the onboard audio, but not 100%... I believe I notice the device...
Issue seems to be fixed now. I'm not sure what the actual fix was to be honest. When troubleshooting my microphone issue, I wound up moving that to a USB 2.0 port instead. I think the USB3 bus was running the same location as my audio, and thus causing those problems. At the same time I did...
Hey guys,
Another problem I noticed while messing around with my computer:
I have a Creative Inspire 5.1 surround sound system. Unfortunately due to circumstances, I only have left + right + center + subwoofer installed (no rear speakers). Before performing my system build, the center...
I thought that reinstalling the driver fixed things, but it didn't. When I logged into teamspeak the first time everything worked but that's because Windows set my headset to default device. When I play the game, I typically have game audio going through the speakers and voice chat going through...
1) As stated, this is the TS my clan uses. I can't switch to Ventrilo for them, and can't control what codec they use.
2) From reading it looks like the Logitech USB Audio uses the default Windows sound driver for this sort of thing. I will try updating the onboard audio drivers to see if that...
Hey guys,
So first I will say that I'm not 100% sure that my inquiry should belong in this forum... but this is the closest thing I can see. If it doesn't belong here, please let me know and it can be moved.
I've recently built a new system (which is in my sig), and migrated my OS from my...
Unfortunately it doesn't help. :( I don't know if maybe the 500R is different from the 400R in that regard, but I can't see anything that I can do differently in order to get the PSU installed fan-down using all 4 screws without changing anything.
It's always something with me!
I have flipped the PSU around. The intake fan is now on the bottom and (as I was incorrect), it exhausts the air through the PSU out the back of the case where the power cable goes. Here's the problem:
I don't know if removing the pads would make too much difference. Flipping the PSU around...
I'll take a look once I wake up. My biggest concern is that I'm going to have to remove the pads on the bottom of the case in order to get the PSU in "correctly"... ugh.
I saw videos and pictures of the 400R and 500R with corsair psu's properly installed. None referred to the feet being removed. Maybe it was cause I was drunk; I dunno. I'll double check tonight.
Ok so the fan always blows through the crossers... Good to know! Now again is it preferred to blow...
Has anyone else worked with this case and experienced the same issue? As I said the screws sorta match up but the PSU seems higher than the screw holes. I probably could remove the feet that support the PSU in the case, but I want to make sure from other more experienced users first prior to do...
Danny I'm using the Corsair Carbide 500R. The screws looked like they would be relatively close but there was no way to get them to match up... Unless maybe I move the rubber pads that the PSU sits on?
I'll take pics of the comp soon. Between getting the last of the parts last minute before...
Computer was assembled successfully... even while drunk, first try too! :) As always had some minor issues figuring out the HSF, but that was installed. The hard part was the migration which I did on the old computer just fine. OS partition was copied to the SSD, and Windows was smart and...
Yeah I fully intended on at least having the OS, BF3, and MW3 on the SSD... also making sure to leave enough room for unavoidable OS growth.
One thing I saw in the other post that I have made was that someone recommended getting an additional fan for the HSF that I purchased that Force...
I'm going to be giving this a shot within the next few days. I had found that website you linked prior to finding this thread. I have faith that the registry edit will work if treating it as an install disk doesn't. At least I'll be able to get Win 7 on there!
The only thing I am going to install on the SSD is the OS, BF3, and MW3 when it comes out... Is there any easier way of getting things going on the new computer since the old hard drive will be in there as well? The only difference is my hard drive presently is divided into two partitions. I...
I pulled the trigger and ordered the parts... ugh... such a big purchase lol. I know you guys are in agreement on the parts, and I trust you're right... I just hope everything goes ok.
Now I'm in the process of trying to find whatever disks I'm going to need for the new computer. I already...
Danny, can you think if there are any places cheaper I can get the equipment, or will Newegg be fine? I know you're good at price hunting. I would like to get all of the equipment from the same place, but the thing that worries me is the SSD is from another site. Newegg has a deal for a 120gb...
Ok so I'm still having trouble debating on some of the bits and pieces. Really just the case is where my biggest debate is coming in, and especially since Enginurd pointed out to me the huge size of the memory ramsinks. These cases are on Danny's list, and I'm looking at the following cases...
Doesn't look that bad to me. I need to look at the features of the motherboard. I also need to see if I want to find another case, or regrettably use the case I'm using now since I do like it that much lol.
Hey guys,
It was recommended since getting advice to make another post answering the usual questions. Here it goes!
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
A - This PC is going to be used for gaming, at least 95% of the time. Nothing else major.
2) What's...
Sorry Tiraides,
I was posting on my cell phone and didn't notice your update. To be honest... that's a tough question for me to be able to answer. I'm going to throw my thoughts out there, and they may kind of string together so let me know what you pick from it.
One of the biggest things that...
Thanks for the posts guys. I'm not quite sure if I feel that it fully answered my questions... Mostly answers about new setups, so actually I guess that does answer a question. I guess I'll make a new thread with the questions answered.
As much as I wish to be one of those guys who have the...
Yeah here's another thread guys. :) So my current rig is in my signature. I downloaded BF3 last night, and I kinda knew it wasn't going to be that great to play... but it turned out to be pretty bad with some skipping and what not. So I'm back to the decision.
Do I upgrade components...
Are there any recommendations for the motherboard / memory combo deal? I was checking out Newegg but I don't know what the best one on the list is. Or should I make a general post in the hardware forum looking for recommendations? Definitely wouldn't mind saving on cost, but I'm still trying to...
Ok, so since I'm at the max with my existing system, that poses the following questions:
1) Can my mother board handle a substantially better processor, or should I just upgrade the motherboard / processor together?
2) What about the power supply?
3) Once upgraded, what VC should I go for?
I...
So after doing some thinking I decided that I am probably going to upgrade anyways, especially for when Battlefield 3 comes out. Any recommendations on what I should get? I'm looking for something that is going to perform better than my 260, perform on the existing system specs I have in my...
Yeah it seemed normal besides some glitching going on which I couldn't explain. Could be a patch for the game. But Rift seems to kick the card into over drive and I don't know why.
I'm going to have to test other games, however when I recalled when I did set the fan static to about 60% I never noticed any problems. I noticed these problems in Rift because I believe temps got so hot that the fan forced it to rev to 100%, then drop back down to 60. Looking at Afterburner...
So I've taken your advice (except for removing the whole cooler, I'm not familiar with the layout or what needs to be undone and I don't have any spare paste lying around). I did as extensive of a cleaning as I know how to on the card. Unfortunately when popping it back in and going back to the...
