So what are folks planning to cool their new Ryzen chips with? I'm looking at the 3700X or 3800X and L9a but I noted the fins would have to be horizontal. Probably not a big deal but makes me wonder if there's some temperature reduction to be gained there with an alternative air cooler that also...
No worries mate, I'm not miffed or anything. I saw others pointed out the weird juxtaposition hence why someone would think bait x)
My use case and I guess concept revolves around how long I'm going somewhere and amusement requirements. I've got the little guns for average days out (PSP Go in...

Though really, it's portability. Maybe we can't fit big ass coolers or such to push high spec components to the limit but we can still use i7s and the best GPUs, just in a pretty metal shoebox that we can take just about anywhere. I backpacked my A4-SFX, keyboard and mouse, keyboard...
3rd gen Ryzen looks tempting seeing the press and such surrounding it... A4 AM4 builders, what CPU cooler do you have? I'd be sticking to air and all I know that works and is effective are the L9a, L9I with AM4 brackets and both C7s.
I suppose anyone can answer this bit though since it's...
Anyone painted their panels or such? I've only seen that hydrographic red skull pattern DAN a while back and nothing otherwise. Thought about personalising the outside of the case but didn't want to jump in and ruin the aluminium finish. Got custom printed vinyls as another option
The AXP-100 won't fit as-is. People have modded it before though to fit the fan underneath the heatsink rather then on top, and that fits. Don't ask me how though.
I'm pretty sure the Asetek smashes it, though I don't recall how much. It was going by what other folks had recorded and while the C7 Cu wasn't around at that time, it's not the upgrade to previous air coolers like the Asetek was
Came home today to find my ordered prints had went through the letterbox 2 days earlier then expected. Of course I'm not complaining. Got it in ABS since 3D Hub's PLA has a 60C glass temp which sounds a bit low for the use case.
Carefully snipped off the old cableties, screwed the fan to the...
Will that end up on your shopfront? I don't have a 3D printer and figured if I'm going to buy the adapter I might as well buy the shroud as well
... Suppose since it's in dollars too I should ask if you ship to the UK...
Fans came today, but unfortunately it's not happening. I can't get enough tension to push the riser down on top to allow the fan to spin, I don't have a fan grill custom or otherwise to stop the riser getting into the blades in that case, and when it comes to the bottom the riser is rock solid...

Put the two together. You're welcome. (Can the forum stop turning it into a broken google document link?)
That was the plan with the NF-A9 in the drive bay but it doesn't manage it on it's own above essentially idle workloads, that also suffers from noise issues above 40% RPM.
But I got two of those 80mm Akasa fans coming anyway.. I'll be able to have both. One above, one below.
Well it works, I can get it down to 18 but it takes about 30 for it to not do the rattley sound it does when the fan spins down. Quiet but distinct, would probably not hear it so clearly if it wasn't on my desktop
Looks like it belongs, shame it didn't work out. How fast was it running at idle? I've had the same concern with noise here too but a louder whisper beats the GPU flaring up to a loud 38% fan speed every 5 seconds under minor load because it doesn't get enough passive cooling (why can't they use...
Figured already, nice to have the official word on it though. Good luck to the guy who wants to use the 12mm fan, hopefully sanding it down will get them a result
I didn't mean just that (floated 3x40mm fans as intake or exhaust) but yeah, I see that's the specific fan used.
Thanks. Guess I won't be doing it though, doublechecked online while I was out and the Elite 130 side fan has a width of 15mm. Back to step one, wondering which way is best before buying anything
I didn't know a fan could actually fit up there and be useful, thanks lads. Glad I didn't pack up the Elite 130 then, that 80x10mm fan will be perfect. I'll mount it with twist ties when I get home before finding a more permanent solution
The ASUS Z370i layout is literally the same as the Z270i layout, which has the same issue with the LP53 as the Z170i layout does, yeah. The cooler can fit but only in specific orientations (not useful for the A4-SFX either) without removing the heatsinks, which are attached by screws underneath...
The v1 interested me a while back, might jump on this. The pitch makes something a bit unclear though unless I'm just being an idiot, the concept drawing mentions the 'Weekender' opens to the main compartment from the zip at the top of the bag. and then the video demonstration doesn't show the...
Alright, I'm back with the newest idea to not quite float. I'm thinking of tying down three A4x10 FLXs as intake in some configuration (maybe 2 on the GPU side, 1 for the CPU) to the base of the chassis rather then the top of the chassis as it would be easier to do. Did a half-assed measurement...
It helps cool my Strix while it's in fanless mode, but doesn't manage to keep it under the fan threshold all of the time. I can't put it full blast because it's loud as hell. I need to invest in 40mm fans myself, but still wondering how to mount it. Someone suggested 3M stickyback velcro mounts...
Who here's used a A9x14 as just a case fan (not as a radiator cooler), and what is the sound profile like? I've got Cablemod cables now and while they've certainly cleared up unnecessary wires, I couldn't wire it in a way that helped with the proximity to an A9 as the case fan and past that 40%...
Bollocks, I should have waited for you. Or at least my Cablemod stuff. In my effort screwing the fan in today with the Dan drive bay rubber mounts (they're thick enough for fan screws and won't go otherwise) I've bored out one of the A9's fan screw holes and it still isn't mounted completely...
