Exactly why i haven't considered upgrading my gaming computer over these years. And to be fair, i'm not replacing this computer outright. Just building something new. I'm most likely just going to move this 2700k into a htpc.

This is not really a good review either. It lacks specs on the computers tested and the procedures taken to get those stats.

I disagree, as does this review and several others. The crashing was more of an issue with the gpu, but even then when it crashed bios reset the cpu OC and when running normally i didn't notice a huge difference in performance. http://www.hardcoreware.net/intel-core-i7-2700k-review/5/

I'm not against overclocking. I just don't see it as a long term solution. I haven't found significant advantages overclocking cpu's and gpu's when gaming or video conversion. Certainly when playing online or making a batch of video. At least this has been the case with my 2700k. Sooner or later...

Not really. There are leased server cpu's on the market for dirt cheap prices. Not really worth it imo unless you are building a server with multiple cpu's (in reality, still spending over 300$ on 4+ cpu's).

I think that guy is taking it to the extreme with "hella used" bargain deals. At that price its a win win situation. If it doesn't work, oh well, if it does work, cool beans. I personally have no intention of buying anything used unless it's from a friend where i know how something was used...

I haven't seen any noticeable downsides for the vega running on freesync monitors, and its currently at a decent price point. The 1080ti is no cheaper than 700usd online unless used (not doing that). I prefer not to overclock the cpu or gpu because I've never seen lasting performance benefits...

Isn't linked GPU's a feature controlled through Crimson now? I don't think the games have any control over this.

Another small update. I bumped on the Kelvin level to 6800k and I'm a lot happier with the brightness and color over multiple mediums now. The warmer settings was a bit too harsh on the eyes.

Another small update. Changed the kelvin level in the crimson display settings from 5600k to 6500k and the warm glow and subsequent eye strain from the screen was significantly diminished. The warm tinge was really making my eyes work hard. The change in cooler temp also didn't negatively...

I see your point, but i'm not in total agreement about the black levels being superior. Overall the grey scale seems to be worse. The black in general seems darker, but not nearly as accurate and seems to wash out some detail. The brightness is overall harsher, making the grey and white contrast...

It's not DOA, it runs fine anything under 1600mhz, the intel bios changes the voltage as well in the presets, so I'm thinking this is the problem.

Another small update. After a few 25 minute sessions in Project cars, F1 2013 and Battlefield 4. I can say the freesync and bump in refresh rate is working as advertised. Not a single stutter or harsh frame drop at all! Only small issue i noticed is that there seems to be a bit more motion...

I'm not understanding this. It only enables itself when a application such as a game triggers it? What do i have to modify? I see that it has selected its native refresh rate to 75hz 1440p but the information tab for the monitor shows its set at 60hz.

Well so far i've already run into some issues. The monitor is running fine with no noticeable damage. But i can not get the freesync to activate in crimson. Where in the monitor menu can i access the option to enable freesync or DP 1.2(a)? I'm not to sure how these displayport cables are...

I see, it just doesn't make sense why this would be the sole reason behind your eyes hurting. My eyes hurt after hours of use as well and my current monitors are IPS with no noticeable flickering. I just tried to phone capture and it's not there. I will try it with the Omen when i hook it up...
