    Gaming comp upgrade...I7-2700k > ?

Exactly why i haven't considered upgrading my gaming computer over these years. And to be fair, i'm not replacing this computer outright. Just building something new. I'm most likely just going to move this 2700k into a htpc.

This is not really a good review either. It lacks specs on the computers tested and the procedures taken to get those stats.

    Gaming comp upgrade...I7-2700k > ?

I disagree, as does this review and several others. The crashing was more of an issue with the gpu, but even then when it crashed bios reset the cpu OC and when running normally i didn't notice a huge difference in performance. http://www.hardcoreware.net/intel-core-i7-2700k-review/5/

I'm not against overclocking. I just don't see it as a long term solution. I haven't found significant advantages overclocking cpu's and gpu's when gaming or video conversion. Certainly when playing online or making a batch of video. At least this has been the case with my 2700k. Sooner or later...

Not really. There are leased server cpu's on the market for dirt cheap prices. Not really worth it imo unless you are building a server with multiple cpu's (in reality, still spending over 300$ on 4+ cpu's).

    Gaming comp upgrade...I7-2700k > ?

I think that guy is taking it to the extreme with "hella used" bargain deals. At that price its a win win situation. If it doesn't work, oh well, if it does work, cool beans. I personally have no intention of buying anything used unless it's from a friend where i know how something was used...

Again my point is to buy once not every single time something else comes out. I'm not looking to upgrade cpu's and gpu's every season. The 7820 8core cpu seems like something i wont have to touch until 2025 if technology doesn't take a left turn. And even still that wouldn't be enough to trash a...

    Gaming comp upgrade...I7-2700k > ?

I don't know what you mean by "dead" or compatibility problems. I've gone down the route of gpu upgrades and so far it has been a good enough investment. Are you saying this cpu/mobo setup is not a problem? The fact still remains the latest mobo and cpu systems have faster read/write transfer...

    Gaming comp upgrade...I7-2700k > ?

I haven't seen any noticeable downsides for the vega running on freesync monitors, and its currently at a decent price point. The 1080ti is no cheaper than 700usd online unless used (not doing that). I prefer not to overclock the cpu or gpu because I've never seen lasting performance benefits...

Hello all. I'm finally looking to upgrade my gaming system to a updated CPU and mobo setup. I'm realizing the next era of rendering software and game engines are coming upon us, and after almost half a decade with the sandy bridge cpu i'm noticing this system is starting to show signs of it's...

Thinking about a non-Samsung Android Phone

Well good for you getting your panties twisted in a bunch. But I've owned several Sony phones and none of them have self destructed or had performance related problems. You stating these clearly fictitious failures is beyond childish "z4 overheating if you look at it wrong" really? My camera's...

Thinking about a non-Samsung Android Phone

That's a fairly poor accusation if you've never tried anything other than samsung and the go to phones. There line up is top notch and usually has vastly superior build quality to the cheap plastic Samsung's. On another note. I just bought the Sony Z4 tablet and its absolutely lightning fast...

Thinking about a non-Samsung Android Phone

Surprised no one has mentioned Sony. Their new line up should be great comparatively to Samsung. I guess most people don't want to pay the price though. I'm still using Z5 ultra which works really well. Water proof and can support 256gig cards like the newer phones. Also has a 4k...

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Isn't linked GPU's a feature controlled through Crimson now? I don't think the games have any control over this.

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Another small update. I bumped on the Kelvin level to 6800k and I'm a lot happier with the brightness and color over multiple mediums now. The warmer settings was a bit too harsh on the eyes.

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

i don't see how that would make much of a difference if the refresh rate is lower and the framing pacing is worse.

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Just another small update- Happy to report no major issues with this monitor thus far. one thing i failed to actually point out (which is a good thing) is that there are no light bleed issues or burn in on the screen. I'm guessing this is one of the benefits of a VA monitor. The brightness...

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Another small update. Changed the kelvin level in the crimson display settings from 5600k to 6500k and the warm glow and subsequent eye strain from the screen was significantly diminished. The warm tinge was really making my eyes work hard. The change in cooler temp also didn't negatively...

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

I see your point, but i'm not in total agreement about the black levels being superior. Overall the grey scale seems to be worse. The black in general seems darker, but not nearly as accurate and seems to wash out some detail. The brightness is overall harsher, making the grey and white contrast...

It's not DOA, it runs fine anything under 1600mhz, the intel bios changes the voltage as well in the presets, so I'm thinking this is the problem.

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Another small update. After a few 25 minute sessions in Project cars, F1 2013 and Battlefield 4. I can say the freesync and bump in refresh rate is working as advertised. Not a single stutter or harsh frame drop at all! Only small issue i noticed is that there seems to be a bit more motion...

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Well i see what the problem is now. The quick display option isn't in the actual menu. I automatically reprogrammed the buttons to something else so i couldn't find the quick menu page. Thanks for the help. As of now though, can't say that i'm all that impressed...The colors don't seem to be...

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

I'm not understanding this. It only enables itself when a application such as a game triggers it? What do i have to modify? I see that it has selected its native refresh rate to 75hz 1440p but the information tab for the monitor shows its set at 60hz.

    HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

Well so far i've already run into some issues. The monitor is running fine with no noticeable damage. But i can not get the freesync to activate in crimson. Where in the monitor menu can i access the option to enable freesync or DP 1.2(a)? I'm not to sure how these displayport cables are...

Hey guys, Just wanted to know which brands have you guys found most reliable. As of now i've only tried corsair, G-skill, Crucial, and Kingston. HP Omen 32" QHD Monitor - 2560x1440, 5ms, 75Hz freesync, VA panel

I see, it just doesn't make sense why this would be the sole reason behind your eyes hurting. My eyes hurt after hours of use as well and my current monitors are IPS with no noticeable flickering. I just tried to phone capture and it's not there. I will try it with the Omen when i hook it up...

    Looking for a replacement, 1920x1200

The difference will really only come down to the screen type and hardware capabilities (refresh rate, syncing type,GTG timing). I'm guessing it would be the difference between 16:10 vs 16:9. I personally think 16:9 27" is a great size. Never tried 26" but no matter the layout, it can't be...
