    Normal 8700K Behavior?

Yeah, I am running Asus Aura. Could that be the cause?

    Normal 8700K Behavior?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if I am experiencing normal behavior from my system. I currently have an 8700k with an Asus z370 prime and am seeing the CPU fluctuate in speed quite a lot. That is, its constantly bouncing up and down between idle clocks and full boost (attached image). I...

    CPU Spike to 100C

Attached is what greeted me when I took off the IHS. I took all the paste off the die and the IHS and scraped off the silicone sealant as much as I could. I ended up putting some MX4 I had on the die then plugging into my mobo and having the socket hold down the IHS. The CPU is now running at...

    CPU Spike to 100C

He did use compound to re-seal the HIS back on.

    CPU Spike to 100C

So I reapplied thermal paste, reseated the cooler and the CPU is fine running at 4.6 w/ 1.28v. Ran Aida64 again. The CPU still spikes up to 100C. I even set the pump and fans to 100% and it still goes up to 100C. Could it be the de-lid job (from the guy i bought it from) was botched? Like I...

    CPU Spike to 100C

Hi everyone, I picked up a used 4790K today and put it under my evga CLC280. Its idling around 29C which is absolutely normal, but then when I run AIDA64, the CPU will spike to 100C! The max voltage goes up to 1.35V @ 4.6ghz OC. I also found out this CPU was de-lidded and the guy applied...

Canalys: AMD Will Surpass Intel on CPU Performance Next Year

Oh I sure hope so! Competition is good! If AMD CPUs will be genuinely faster than Intel, then we can go back to the days of the athlon 64 and athlon x2. It took a while for Intel to catch up then...

    4690K still worth using?

Based on these benchmarks, it seems I am going to really gain in a few fringe games. Otherwise, my i5 is still strong. Thanks!

Hardware Unboxed - BF 5 benchmarks

BF5 is running on the same engine as BF1. There shouldn’t be this large a discrepancy between the two titles for performance. I’m not buying these benches.

Intel's 9th Generation Core Family - Coffee Lake (Refresh)

Kind of sitting in the same boat. Next year I will definitely upgrade, but to why? Still not sure. If the 9th gen doesn’t provide a large enough boost in performance over 8th, then may get 8th gen off the used market.

Next month - my price prediction for 1080 nvidia cards - add your predictions too

Well my hope is that 1080ti drops down to around $400 used but more realistically, probably closer to $500. I also think that current gens will go out of stock quickly once the new RTX roll around. Will be snatched up by miners during the discounted phase post launch.

Good replacement for R9 270x crossfire?

A 1060 6gig if you can swing it

    4690K still worth using?

This is where there is conflicting info on HT. Some say that it doesn’t do much, while others say that it benefits a whole heap of a lot. I always thought that games typically favor per core performance rather than HT.

    4690K still worth using?

I think, based on what you guys are saying, I’ll hold off until the new CPUs come out next year and pick up some used 8700k or Ryzen 2s. Thanks!

What is your preference on case & radiator fans? (Price vs Performance vs Noise)

I will also throw in my 2cents for the beQuiet! Silent wings. I replaced all my fans in the case with these and they are Dan bear silent. I can’t hear a thing. Plus, my temps are acceptable to me given how quiet they are.

Poll: Will you be buying a 2080Ti/2080/2070?

Probably not until real time ray tracing matures and games are built from the ground up on ray trace.

I'm having a tough time deciding..

I suppose refresh rate syncing is very useful for low input lag games, where that is important. If you play CSGO, Overwatch, or any of the other competitive games, then I would vote freesync. However, I play on a 1440p monitor and have a GTX 1080 to push the highest frames at the highest...

Ray Tracing - Game Changer or Overhyped?

@ $1200 to be able to raytrace...not for me just yet. When a GPU is $750 and can rasterize 4K, I still see that as a bit expensive. Plus, no games coming out are “native” ray traced. What I mean is, they have a mode for ray tracing rather than the game being built raytraced from the ground up.

    4690K still worth using?

Hi everyone, I am currently running a 4690K OCed to 4.3 @ 1.23v along with a GTX1080 on an ultra wide 1440p monitor. Some games I see 100% cpu (assassin’s creed origins for example) and some games are only using 60% CPU. My question to you is whether you think there is any more OC headroom...

The Top 5 Best CPUs of All Time

My vote would be for Athlon 64 and athlon X2. Those were the days of the intel Presshot and I think the AMD camp back then was at the top.
