Solved.
I had to be "UEFI Only" in the BIOS and also have a UEFI booted Windows install flash drive.
I had to re-run W10 Media Creation tool on a new flash drive, as the one I used previously was generated from Rufus.

- Xeon E3-1245v6 (Kaby Lake, similar to i7-7700)
- Samsung EVO 960 500GB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 (MZ-V6E500BW)

Thanks to your instructions I was able to install FW2.10 on the two expanders I just purchased, from 2.08.
