NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Yeah, I've looked there before. I had ordered a Siverstone SODO2 (I think) used, and having plugged it in, it's actually the GA31n from the top of your link. And it refused to read about half the DVDs I tried, including the windows install disc. Seller is allowing me to return it. I may just...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Are there any decent optical drives still for sale that will fit the NCase? Specifically any non-Bluray drives? Or is it just the uj265, as expensive as that is?

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Posting from phone now that Windows is finally working. Turns out it didn't want to boot off my slim DVD drive. Swapped in a temporary, and we're off. Pictures are in rough order, and everything is still a mess. I wasn't actually planning to install into the case yet; was gonna confirm that...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

That's not very clear. Anyway, until I get that sorted, HDD LEDs are disconnected. As is the speaker. Computer boots to BIOS. Uefi works fine. All devices are detected, all fans spin. Attempt to install Windows, and all I get is a black screen, sometimes with a flashing cursor.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Dumb question: I'm hooking up the front panel header. Power LED is labelled separately per pin (+-). HDD led is labelled +- on a double connector, but I'm reading positive as black, whereas it was white for power. Do I trust the labeling, or the color? Power switch isn't labelled at all. Does...

My Asrock AM4 ITX board is out for delivery! With my luck, the bastards will require a signature, though. :( ETA: it's here!

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Well, the ASRock AM4 mITX mobos are up for preorder on Newegg. Also NCIX if you're Canadian or just like paying for things in large placeholdery sums of money. B350: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157780 X370...

So, this is a thing: http://www.pcgamer.com/noctua-spent-four-and-a-half-years-designing-its-quietest-strongest-fan-yet/ Also mentioned: black versions of their consumer fans!

Ok, thanks. I figured I might as well check in before I tried to send it back.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Does anyone know the specific reason *why* the 9.5 mm ODDs aren't compatible with the Ncase M1? I ordered the Silverstone SST-SOD03 because it supported the 12.7mm form factor, but didn't notice that it appears to be a 9.5mm drive with an optional 12.7mm bezel. Not quite the same thing. I did a...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Not really a surprise, at least to me. That's the rumored board I was discussing above, and Computex was the obvious place to announce. There's a B350 and an X370, differences between them unknown as of this morning when I last looked.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Best info on specs I've seen: ASRock : Gigabyte : www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5z7dnl/new_mitx_board_gigabyte_ab350ngaming_wifi The most noticeable thing is included wifi, which I actually don't care about much. Based on some of the Reddit comments, there are some nicely upgraded parts: lan...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I'm planning a very similar build, but I'm not going to use the Biostar. I'm awaiting the Asrock that's supposed to release next month. Anyway, my only notes are these: the fit on the NH-C14S is going to be very dependent on socket placement in the motherboard. It may work, it may not, I...

Ha. While I was being indecisive, Fry's is no longer shipping the 1600.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Ugh, I'm being totally wishy-washy here. Assuming sales/cashback are still good, I can pick up a Ryzen 1600 for 190$ or a Ryzen 1700 for 285$, and I can't make up my mind. I generally only use my desktop for gaming, but I do sometimes have stuff running in the background. No encoding, rendering...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

This should allow the use of Noctua fans with say, the C14S, where previously you had to use other manufacturers' slim fans up top. This is not a new config, but the use of slim Noctuas would be. Off the top of my head, there are no other top down coolers that had clearance issues that would...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Is anything important missing from this build? Don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/darknoghri/saved/W8gFTW Motherboard manufacturers are pissing me off. I can't even attempt to lock in a CPU cooler (short of something like the U9S) without photos...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I'm looking at case fans, and had some questions. Specifically for side-panel fans to be used with an air-cooler (either dual 120s or a single over the PSU), with an emphasis on silence: Which 120mm Noctua is best? Are there any 120s that are comparable/better than the Noctuas that don't look...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Thanks for the optical/hdd info, guys As for AM4 ITX, the Biostar is out depending on where you are, and there are rumors of an ASRock in June and a Gigabyte in July. I'm waiting on the ASRock. :(

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Quick question: is there a configuration that allows an optical drive and a 2.5 inch drive to be mounted up front? I'm curious if using an optical drive blocks that mounting spot for the HDD. I'm waffling back and forth between getting the largest m2 SSD I can get my hands on and getting a...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I'm tentatively planning on getting a 1700, but I see no reason to buy it just yet, unless there's a really nice sale. It's possible, depending on pricing/performance, that I might get a hexcore instead. As for Vega, maybe, but there are as of yet no released pricing or performance details. I'm...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

You and me both. There's word of a Gigabyte and an ASRock board in the works, but the Biostars are likely to be first to market, based on the amount of info we have on them. In the meantime, I'm waiting for ram prices to come back down, and also to see how the R5s perform.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Thanks! A couple questions for you, then. Is there space next to the top fan for a 120 mm fan on the side bracket, across from the PSU? It looks like the be quiet fan is 22 mm thick. Is the fit close enough that a standard 25 mm thick fan wouldn't fit over the heatsink mounted on the case side...

Still waiting for more AM4 motherboard announcements than just the single Biostar. Hopefully then they'll have some of the quirks and BIOS kinks worked out.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I'm tentatively pulling together a Ryzen build over the next few months, pending motherboards getting released. Is there any sort of a consensus, with the scarcity of the C14, as to the best options for air-cooling? I'm looking at the Noctua U9S, the Noctua C14S, and the Be Quiet Dark Rock TF...
