AMD CPU Attack Vectors and Vulnerabilities

Local execution. _________________________________________________________________________________ As far as this whitepaper, it looks like total trash. Every exploit listed requires at least one of the following: 1. Physical Access 2. A modified BIOS with injected malware to be flashed 3...

Ryzen "B2" Stepping a False Rumor (apparently)

That would be my guess as well, based on the replies on the tweet. News sites ran with it because they have been spending the last several months correlating Naples and Summit Ridge being "the same die". chew* was addressing the rumors he saw that used modified language in comparison to the...

Ryzen "B2" Stepping a False Rumor (apparently)

The validity of those statements remains to be seen as AMD has not yet released a public Revision Guide for Family 17h containing the known Product Errata list

Ryzen "B2" Stepping a False Rumor (apparently)

Just as chew* already replied to me, you are correct. However, the initial CPC rumor never mentioned "Ryzen", only "Zen". It seems the B2 revision will be used for Epyc, at least for now.

Leak confirmed: AM4 CPUs will have the IHS soldered

Again, I'm 99.9% sure that is an image of him applying TIM after removal of most of the solder. I know its from November, I just uploaded a picture of his facebook post, which I commented on with a picture of the BR die overlayed on the chip, saying I thought it was BR. It seemed to fit within...

AMD Ryzen 8C/16T Cinebench R15 & Fritz Chess Scores

Well, the result is still almost Haswell-E level IPC, so Dresdenboy and I are not sure if it is fake or not. The part OPN suggests not, but anyone knowing how AMD names their ES parts could theoretically fake that. Assuming Summit Ridge @ 3.1 GHz clock and not in a boost state (this chip shows...

Leak confirmed: AM4 CPUs will have the IHS soldered

Pretty sure it's soldered, bud. See the outside of the die, and the imprint on the edges of the solder on the IHS? It is solidified. Also, his post in Korean roughly translates to "To the naked eye, didn't break the core, but can get damaged with high heat, doesn't work" <---soldered Carrizo /...

AMD Ryzen 8C/16T Cinebench R15 & Fritz Chess Scores

I was the one that posted that image @ Anandtech. Dresdenboy and I both guess the sample was designated at 3.1 GHz base and 3.5 turbo. (Or, possibly, 3.4 base and 3.5 turbo) First post, hello guys. Been at XtremeSystems and HWBOT for the past 7 years.
