AMD numbers on an AMD optimized console port in an AMD guide showing AMD take a small lead. Curious how much the 1080 leads based on the NVIDIA numbers? ;)
Does the NDA require to omit negative analysis of the cards? My understanding it is that it is mostly about preventing leaks.
If HardOCP does not sign the NVIDIA NDA, then the same needs to be done for AMD's one. I feel AMD has been given a bit of free slack around here, mostly due to lack of...
I got stuck on that TR level and stopped playing the game o_O
But back on topic, great article! The Pascal cards are awesome - my 1070 has served me well for over 2 years now. I only wish it was the Ti, as I have a 4k screen and have to dial down the graphics settings more than I'd like, to hit...
Unigine Heaven 640x480! Love it, that's something probably neither AMD nor Intel ever optimized their CPUs for, so fun to see how they perform on an unexpected workload :D
Not true: the Quadro P5000 is only 5-10% slower than a 1080 (google some results). "Destroyed" I'll use for 30%+. Anyway, the Vega is running in game mode (not pro mode).
TechPowerUP has this today:
Vega Frontier Ed Beats TITAN Xp in Compute, Formidable Game Performance: Preview
That's a very one-sided qualitative title.
[H], please don't let us down. I don't use adblock on your site and will strongly consider becoming a "patreon" if the Vega review feels...
Yes, low voltage is more important for power saving than clock due to the P = V^2 * F law.
I tried to simplify the tip for just adjusting the power setting. What clock do you get while mining with no clock offset, just power dialed down to 50%?
I got the Blue switch OUTEMU keyboard about an year ago and highly recommend it. I personally prefer it to other more popular branded mechanical keyboards.
However, the first thing I did was to break off the palm rest. It looks ugly and is not comfortable in my opinion. The clips that break are...
I like that the mobo is a standard ATX, not EATX. I am currently using an EATX board and it required me to cut away parts of the case (Lian Li A05) and drill new holes for spacers.
Having said that, my previous build used a dual Supermicro board which overheated since the chipset heatsinks were...
ETH mining is heavily memory bandwidth bound, to the point that incremental compute horse power doesn't really matter.
After some experimentation, here are my settings (for NVIDIA) that could make mining more "green" and prolong the life of your cards.
1. Set the power limit to 50-60%. This...
Jensen is a true visionary, and people like him shape the world and make it better. I am glad the few dollars NVIDIA made out of my 1070 are being invested in such transformative tech.
Glad to see it is DX11. For me that is a sign of an independently developed benchmark, not sponsored by M$ or AMD.
Unigine are clearly brilliant programmers achieving very high triangle counts with modest CPU usage.
I feel ever since Kyle got on AMD's stage, he is using softer words towards AMD:
>Reference video card to reference video card the GeForce GTX 1060 is slightly faster, about 7%. However, overclocking either video card will throw this off a bit.
>The GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 480 line up well at...
That's an old GloFo video, here is the original:
They shamelessly put "Making of Ryzen", while all wafers shown are from older AMD processors and the last part is the old AMD Athlon package + die shape.
Good video, nevertheless, but credit should go to Global Foundries.
Dang, the NVIDIA store switched from "Buy it Now" to "Out of Stock" on me as I was browsing around :D

Silver award? It's about equal to much cheaper i3 for gaming. I am frankly disappointed - don't see the insane value the hype led me to believe.
I am however glad that it is fast enough to give Intel some heat to drop prices and put more cores in :)
I don't understand why some people are hateful of the NVIDIA FE card. It offers variety and competition and is thus a good thing.
It doesn't directly compete with AIB cards because:
* It uses magnesium covers for premium looks
* It uses high-efficiency voltage regulators
* It is clocked...
I have a 1070 and recently borrowed a 290x to fix a bug in the program I am developing. Even just by running the Oculus Home app, heat and noise difference is unbelievable until you experience it. The 290x gets loud (mind you it was the 3 fan variant) and when running heat just radiated from...
> What is the primary use of this computer?
Gaming and coding. Compile times are pretty good and in parallel. The linker is still serial though :/
> nice system, whats up with the foam?
For airflow. The foam partitions the case into the top half and the bottom half. It might be hard to see...
I had the same concern and "solved" it by getting a 4k display. Witcher 3 for example scales 1.5x for me in SLI (everything max except hair works = off) which is inline with what review sites are getting with 4+GHz CPUs.
Btw, the extra cores really help with compile times. I am using the...
Why go mainstream when you can double up?
I built my little monster on the "cheap" and wanted to share it with you guys and hear what you think.
Components:
2x GTX1070 = $900
2x Xeon E5-2660 = $100 (eBay)
2x Cooler Master Evo 212 = $0 (found them in a junkyard)
8x4GB Micron 1333 ECC = $100...
I just bought the 6290 model from the local BestBuy (~$325 out the door in CA). I was also puzzled how to enable 4:4:4 color @ 60Hz at first, but finally found the right setting in the TV's settings: Settings->Picture->Expert->HDMI UHD Color->HDMI1->Yes. Once you do that, the NVIDIA control...
