    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I got mine from Amazon, it was just a little under $800, there was $49 in tax depending on where you live too but I had a gift card that covered that.

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

IPS is considered the best type of panel for photo editing which I do a lot of, that's why I wanted an IPS, I've seen the KS8000 in person as well, every time I went into Best Buy pretty much, it was a nice TV. Don't worry no buyer's remorse, I didn't even want to spend $790 let alone $1150...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Whoa, I just noticed a weird feature (well maybe not weird for TV use) on this TV where it dims the screen when the light goes lower in the room and brightens it when it gets brighter, only reason I finally noticed it was because I had a lamp over my keyboard (never buy a solar powered keyboard...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

So I have noticed the 4K HDR is lovely through Netflix but I tried watching an episode of Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime 4K HDR as well and it would randomly brighten and darken the entire picture almost like a light dimmer, I haven't tried updating the app or anything since unboxing the TV but...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I really like the Sony but I know the Samsung is a little pricier and probably a better TV for some uses, I wanted an IPS panel so I had no choice but to go with the Sony (only the 49" has one though)... probably would have loved any of them, a curve might have been nice if I went KS8500 too.

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Yeah I would imagine an 1070 SLI setup would be pretty damn awesome, I played DOOM for about an hour or so and it was quite enjoyable, I thought for sure I was going to need to play at 2560x1440 or something though, other games that might be the case.

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

That sucks, if it ended up being a software update that would be pretty awesome but I can live without it, I'm not a huge gamer really. That being said... I just installed DOOM and I have been playing it @ 4K with all of the settings maxed out and it's pretty damn awesome, I didn't think games...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I also just tried watching Marco Polo from my browser while using the PC input, what a difference... looked so much better in the app, for some reason while using my web browser it doesn't even recognize the display as 4K, wonder if there's a workaround for that. (not that I care, I use the app...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I'm going to try that test and see how my set fairs, I can't do it until night time though because I don't have window coverings down here in the basement and don't feel like finding something to cover the window lol.

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I never claimed to get HDR with PC use, I was watching Marco Polo on Netflix (with the TVs Netflix app), I assume it was in HDR anyway. Why is what you say true though, I never even considered that to be honest nor do I really care, what about PC use disallows this?

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

That's how I tried to justify it to my fiance, she gave me a hard time about it over and over but I think she's starting realize it's usability... I have also said the same thing, one of my friends made a remark about sitting so close to it and I told them that it was no different than a triple...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

It's hard to judge these things with a photo, not everyone uses a camera the same way but my photo was taken with a very nice Sony A7Rii and Zeiss lens and I processed the RAW file as closely to real life as I think it looks based on being here, I've seen other people post photos like this that...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Here you go, blank screen (screen saver preview) in a very dark room, all you can really see is the power light and power strip under my desk, you can tell it's on though. Let me know if you have a request for a different type of shot, I don't mind when I get around to it.

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I'll try and take a photo in a little while, I'll just turn on my screensaver for the photo (blank screen) if that will suffice, I don't think there's much backlight bleed maybe a little but I was expecting to possibly have worse problems based on some other feedback I've seen from a person or...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Just for the record I haven't calibrated it or done anything to it yet either, straight out of the box and I'm happy with it so that's quite a statement, can't imagine how much I'll like it once calibrated.

Here I cropped it down so it would display at 100% size.

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Did you view the image full-size or just inline with the thread? Honestly these icons look to be the same size as I am used to on every monitor I've ever had which makes me wonder if you're viewing the resized image. I have always had my icons setup this size, they look nearly identifical to...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... FALSE ALARM on the scaling issues, I guess i had never rebooted after I changed that 300% to 100% option a couple hours ago and just did so now and everything is perfect... no more huge UI items. The Overscan is corrected too, EVERYTHING is perfect!

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

It's almost like Windows is setup w/ accessibility options for blind people right now, once I figure out how to fix the huge scrollbars, UI text size, etc. I think it will be good to go... ALSO, I cannot adjust the picture size in the Sony setup menu because all options are "currently disabled"...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Alright here we go, I am just going to link these images right in here, some of them are Native 4K I didn't resize anything but the camera shot of the overscan (also don't take that as how the screen looks, my camera did not flatter the image it looks beautiful in reality). DESKTOP ELEMENTS...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Yep, I'll take a few screenshots I will also screenshot all of the issues I am having (software side scaling issues and such... some of them are annoying but overall I am extremely happy, once I get everything worked out bug wise it should be glorious), I feel like I'm using a giant PC monitor...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I found the settings to adjust the picture size and position but all of the options are disabled when the input is in use so that's kind of silly, I guess I'd probably need to turn off my PC or put it to sleep so there's no signal but that'll make it kind of tricky to adjust for the overscan I...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Ok, this should give you an idea of how big it is with my scruffy ass in front of it.... it's glorious, I am so happy as long as I can get that slight overscan at the top fixed, I assume there's a screen/picture position adjustment somewhere and if not I can probably do it via software, I...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I FIXED IT, now it's absolutely insane... LOL, holy shit I have so much space. There was another setting that had everything set to 300% that I totally did not notice, even at 49" and 100% scaling the text is tiny, basically just like everything was on my 2560x1600 I just have way more space...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

It's enormous though, I love it... once I get the kinks worked out, assuming these are kinks that can be worked out, I have seen other people's displays with the start menu showing and it took up just a small fraction of the lower left area of the screen though so something is wrong since mine...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Well I have it setup but I am pretty sure I don't have it configured quite right yet, I have Windows display properties set to 4K resolution, scaling at 100% but things aren't quite right yet (looks pretty great though, this text I am typing right now is smooth as butter and I'm sitting normal...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

It got rescheduled for Monday unfortunately but I'll have it after tomorrow, It's currently at the facility about 25 minutes from where I live but they don't do the weekends unless it was pre-scheduled for a weekend delivery, I'm eager to receive it and try it out though! I've got some photos...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I'm so pissed off right now... I ordered this TV on the 10th, Prime, guaranteed delivery by today (amazon still says it's coming today before 8pm but tracking info hasn't updated) I check UPS website, same thing, once I go into Support Chat and put my tracking number in there it says scheduled...

    2017 LG OLED

That would be excellent news, everything I read has scared me away from the awesome LG sets because they're OLED, it sucked because they're rated for some of the best picture quality and for PC use which made me want one but then I read so much about burn in it made me look elsewhere, I guess...

    2017 LG OLED

I thought OLED was absolutely horrible for burn-in / image retention, I'm surprised people even consider them for computer monitors based on that... or is it getting better?

Buy Sony 49" X800D or not?

I'll let you know how I feel about mine when it arrives Friday, I have been paranoid about using a TV as a monitor and have put off the purchase for over 6 months now but finally pulled the trigger, I don't really game much I am more using it for general usage, art/design/editing type work so...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I just went through the last 10 or so pages of the "show us your LCD setup" thread and I feel soooooo much better now seeing that many 49" screens on desks, they're pretty much all Samsung but that's irrelevant... I was worried about the usability at that seating distance but this many users...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I also figured as a worst case scenario, if I'm not happy with this thing for whatever reason I can make it our new living room TV (our current one is an old Samsung 7 Series LCD) which is 3 inches smaller, my fiance already said "why not put this TV you ordered in the living room?" haha...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I'm still just curious how good a TV like this looks sitting close to it like a computer monitor, with the amount of people who use them as computer displays I am feeling pretty confident that I won't mind it, I know it's only 89ppi and my Dell 30" IPS was 100ppi so it doesn't seem like a...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Nice! I definitely considered the Samsung and I am aware they have a little bit better picture from what I read but still felt like I should have an IPS for some reason, would have been thrilled to go with the Samsung I am sure but it would have cost me an extra $300-400 and my Fiance already...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I will post a photo when it arrives, it won't get here until Friday according to Amazon although my HDMI cable is showing up tomorrow, I guess the processing time on a TV is longer than the HDMI cable even though I ordered the TV first lol, my desk is a small 24" deep 47" wide disaster of a desk...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

They both have HDR, I was dead set on an IPS panel so I went with the Sony, the KS8500 is the same as the KS8000 as far as I know the only difference is the curve and I wasn't so sure I would like the curve for my needs as it may slightly distort things, if I was editing architectural...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

After thinking about this for months on end I finally just ordered the 49" Sony X800D since it's going to be 100% monitor use with less priority on entertainment more on productivity, every resource on choosing a monitor for photography basically says you should go with IPS so that weighed...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

Thanks for the responses everyone, decision isn't really getting any easier but maybe I should just buy one and be happy with it... Sounds like the Samsung works for SixFootDuo who shares common computing activities with me even though it's not an IPS which I keep convincing myself I need, I...

    I'm torn between 49" Sony X800D and Samsung KS8000.

I was kind of afraid no one would really have a definitive answer for me on this one, I'll probably go with the Sony and just hope I don't hate it... Worse case I just have to buy a monitor too and I have two screens and a whole lot less money after the fact. I tried making a thread like this a...
