I know where you’re coming from. I had a hunch it could be the cable, but silly me keep trying to convince myself “nah it can’t be. Cables have never failed me before, so why now” I thought.
Instead I started to think the problem could either be the drive dying itself despite what CrystalDisk...
Thank you so much for this!
I’m an idiot. I’ve should’ve tried another cable before posting. Turns out it was indeed a bad cable. I’ve tested the drive with another cable and transferred/copy some large files. The drive doesn’t disappear anymore
One of my internal SATA hard drives ( 1TB Samsung 7200rpm ) keeps disappearing every time when I copy/transfer files to it. It also sometimes randomly disppears by itself too. In fact it actually just happened again as I was typing this....
Opening up disk management doesn't show the drive...

If there was any doubt that AMD holds the integrated graphics crown, when we compare the new Ryzen APUs against Intel's latest graphics solutions, there is a clear winner. For almost all the 1080p...
I can find a lot info about the Noctua NH-D15(S) in combination with the 8700k, but none with the Noctua NH-U14S. Do you guys think that my Noctua NH-U14S will be sufficiënt if I want to overclock the 8700k say to a modest 4.8ghz?
Is the Noctua NH-U14S compatible with socket 1151?

I was literally in the exact same position and asked the same question as you a few days ago here
https://hardforum.com/threads/worth-upgrading-to-gtx-1080-ti.1946401/
I thought long and hard before that, and decided to take the plunge. Ended up purchasing the Asus GTX 1080 Ti ROG Strix.
Could...
I bit the bullet and ended up getting the Asus GTX 1080 Ti ROG Strix.
Absolutely incredible cooling. Even under heavy load during gaming it only went up to 71 this is after overclocking the card which sees its core clock speed hovering consistently between 2014mhz to 2074mhz in dozens of titles...
Thank you all the replies guys. Reading some of the comments, I'm kind of torn between on whether to upgrade or not. I really want the 1080 Ti as I intend to keep the card for a good while if I do, but I'm afraid Nvidia is going to release their next batch of cards early next year.
What are the...
I currently have the GTX 1080 G1 Gaming with it reasonable overclocked.
There are some good deals on with the GTX 1080 Ti Asus ROG Strix. Just wondering is it worth going for it?
Will an overclocked 1080 Ti offer significantly more performance, I'm talking at least 35% than my overclocked GTX...
I'm thinking about upgrading to the 8700k and hoping to clock it to 5ghz to make it even more worthwhile.
In the past I’ve used air coolers exclusively for every build and hesitated going AIO solutions mainly due to being a little unfamiliar with them, but this time I might actually switch over...

Currently have the GTX 1080 G1 Gaming. I've been gaming for a long time at 1080p and being able to hit the dial to max out every game at well north of 60fps is a wonderful feeling.
Due to needing more screen restate and wanting to go to a higher resolution without tanking my framerates. I've...
AMD rumoured to be creating consumer oriented 16 Core/32 Thread Ryzen CPU
Quote from Overclocker
AMD has a new HEDT platform coming out in a couple of months. You’ll see more of it at Computex I believe. It’s a 16 core /32 Thread, quad channel behemoth. And it is insanely quick in the tests...
Planning to do a Ryzen build down the line for video editing, rendering and such.
Was wondering what are some good compatible air coolers that will handle an Ryzen overclocked to 4ghz.
Also can the cheaper 1700 hit 4ghz easily or is that only achievable for the more expensive 1700X & 1800X?
Currently using the Noctua NH-U14S. Was wondering if I were to get the 7700k, will this cooler be adaqute enough to handle it at 5ghz?
Also are the chances for 7700k hitting 5ghz high or is that only achievable for a small minority?

AMD Ryzen 8 Core, 6 Core and 4 Core Overclock Frequencies Revealed – Scan Offers New Ryzen Overclocked Bundles, Up To 4.2 GHz Clocks
MSI has a range of AM4 motherboards which will feature support for Ryzen processors. These boards will ship with a feature known as Game Boost Knob which would...
It does happen every now and then. Back in the Core 2 Duo days, Intel's e6700 priced at $530 was faster than AMD's flagship Althon 64 FX-60 which was $1,289.30.
I do agree though at this point it's best to wait for official reviews before making decisions with pre-ordering
A stock 7700k which is already running at a high clock speed of 4.5ghz with boost in single thread. :) Multi threaded performance it already annihilates it.
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Reportedly Outperforms Intel’s $1700 i7 6950X With One-Click Overclocking On Air
Quote from the testers
“Overclocking hasn’t been a problem at all. Although we can’t announce specifics regarding frequencies due to NDA I can say that the results are impressive and...
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Vs Intel Core i7 6900K Gaming Performance Benchmarked
The first gaming performance face-off between the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X and the Intel Core i7 6900K. Both processors were put in a head-to-head comparison running the same game, the same in-game scenery and at the same time in...
This is very reminiscent to the discussion back in the days when people were trying to decide on whether to go for a high clock dual core or lower speed quad core for gaming.
There's a handful of games that already currenty scales with more than 4 cores, but yeah I get your point.
AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Overclocked To 4GHz On All 8 Cores – Provides 1800X+ Performance With Decent Motherboards & Cooling
OCUK staffer “Gibbo” reports successfully overclocking a retail Ryzen 7 1700 processor with an ASUS Crosshair VI Hero motherboard to 4.05GHz on all 8 cores. With this overclock...
You really need to read more clearly. People are not saying it performs significantly "faster". What they're saying is it performs "Competitive" there's a difference. You can spin it around all you want, Ryzen's multi threaded performance is very competitive to Intel's 6900K which the 7700K can...
Good on you for getting what you want. :)
The fact that AMD being a much smaller company with signicantly less money, managed to catch up to the much larger Intel is a huge achievement, and just goes to show Intel has been sitting on their laurels for far too long.
Except AMD only released a few slideshows of floating point performance, and one synthetic benchmark. After that they kept extremely quiet.
This time they're more than happy to show live demos comparisons. But yeah, you have a good point.
Besides gaming, other things I do consist a lot of video editing, HD & 4K videos encoding/conversion, and lately started getting into 3D rendering using Maya & Cinema 4D. All which benefits hugely from more cores, which is where Ryzen will annihilate the 7700k. Even if it is slower than Kaby...
