I work from home, but that gets boring, so I often take my PC to a mates place, & go to the office a couple of times a week (each of these locations have a monitor, network and power cables waiting for me). I do a lot of work with cad and solid works, which necessitates a pretty beefy machine...
Thank you so much for mentioning the power plan bug! I've been stuck for about a week having absolutely no idea what was wrong and why my crashes were so intermittent.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my weekend now, it seems I no longer need to RMA my mobo or CPU & the CPU is going to...
I wish this bullshit would die off already. One batch at launch was noisy, and one of them made their way to Tomshardware, ergo ALL SF600's are noisy forever...
Didn't even know that existed. Unfortunately I've got the V1 now and it's not worth spending another $30 USD to get a replacement shipped to NZ.
I considered that, but decided against it as I don't want to remove my bottom fans every time I want to clean the filter.
Has anyone else bought a DEMCiflex bottom filter? I just got one and found that it's slightly too long, I had to remove the feet & then cut away some of the filters border just to see the screw holes, then even more of the border to actually remount the feet.
I put the heat spreader back on, but didn't bother glueing it on (was worried I'd do something wrong & need to go through the process again). Just placing it back seems to have done the trick though, temps are still about 10-15°C better than they were before.
They come with adhesive thermal pads, you just take the heatsink off, clean the VRM's if necessary (I did with Methylated Spirits), then stick these on.
I should note, I've not noticed any improvement (or worsening) of temperatures, I did this purely because I wanted clearance for Dan's...
You can't simultaneously overclock it and have it's power efficiency at stock settings. Imo the reason to opt for the 1700x would be to allow it to run at stock and fluctuate freely between 3.4 and 3.8ghz whereas an overclocked 1700 would be locked @ what ever multiplier you've set it to. The...
Your first and last sentence is why I'm wondering if the aftermarket M.2 heatsink without the top of the double decker would lead to an improvement. It removes the hot metal from above, and should in theory allow for air to flow over the bottom portion of the heatsink for the chipset and the...
Dan_D I'm not quite understanding what you mean with your piece on the "double decker" heatsink.
Assuming someone is using an M.2 drive in the front, are you saying that the M.2 card and the chipset are just as cool without the top portion of the heatsink installed? Furthermore do you think...
Can you undervolt a non -K? I've managed to undervolt mine by 0.04V and after a delid + LP53+A9x14 am running 70°C during prime 95 Benchmarks @ 4.5ghz. If you can't undervolt a non K processor then I don't think they'll end up being a better choice for thermals.
imo it's a step backwards from the ATX case you had earlier. I'm also not a fan of the rounded front, I much preferred the NCase style.
I don't like the cooling on that atm either, I'd rather hang an SFX PSU at the back parallel to the IO port, with a side panel intake for the PSU cooler...
I wasn't even aware that the G403 had any wireless charging capability. Now I'm curious as to whether or not this would work with my G700s. Nothing like an early Saturday morning tech related rabbit hole.
This'll probably be the hardest thing for Necere to decide on.
Personally I would have this case sitting under my desk, ergo my opinion on IO ports completely differs to yours:
Top mounted IO ports are much more appealing accessible. to me than front mounted. Talking about permanently plugged...
