A great idea, might look into it. The issue is it's the model I don't agree with.

Really? Even peeps with PiHole's haven't had 100% success with blocking telemetry via DNS.

I'm a realist, I'm not being insulting. I pay ~$40.00/month and get ~$5.00/month worth of value for a service that should be free (simple online connectivity).

That doesn't disable telemetry, it's not possible to disable telemetry. 'Connected User Experience' forms the most basic telemetry setting and cannot be disabled. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/configure-windows-telemetry-in-your-organization

In Aus you buy Xbox Live subscriptions based on time, ie: - 1 Month. - 2 Months. - 6 Months. - 12 Months. How often you use the service isn't even a consideration, all that matters is the amount of time you buy. It's a subscription model that I don't agree with, in fact I don't agree with...

VR's lagging a bit, that's about all. Personally I see the fact that we have a struggling technology such as VR at all as a positive.

Totally agreed, this is the exact situation. The only thing I miss under Linux now is BF4, which I can live with now that I never plan on running any EA game on my personal systems ever again - Pay to play is a model I'm totally opposed to, especially when it involves what is effectively...

You can tweak trackpad drivers under many distro's, I run kbuntu on my laptop and my trackpad works as well as it does on the many Mac's I work on - However, while the whole process is GUI based it did take me quite a bit of time to get things working exactly as I wanted them to. Battery life...

I'm really glad you mentioned this as I've only connected my Ubuntu MATE PC to a dedicated 4k monitor via DP, hence no issues. However, on my HT system I run a HDMI switcher on one of the inputs to my receiver as well as a HDMI splitter on the HDMI output from my receiver to split between the...

Considering it looks like the P51 only runs Nvidia Quadro graphics (awesome laptop BTW), why wouldn't you consider running Linux on it assuming software compatibility wasn't an issue? It looks like the perfect device to run Linux on. I use Linux on my own work laptop (no where near as good as...

This is why I prefer the binary Nvidia drivers as they come with a proper X Server settings panel. You select 4k and your desired refresh rate and you're good to go, I've had 4k running on my main Linux machine many times running Nvidia hardware/drivers no problem. What was your issue with...

Apple’s Apology for Batterygate Didn’t Go Far Enough

While I don't agree in any way with extended service intervals on today's highly strung power units, take it to PM. This is a thread on the obvious manipulation of Apple regarding iOS upgrades.

I agree Cybereality. Awesome setup my friend! I'm really curious about that chair, but in the name of safety I think I'll stick to the chair designed for me. I don't know whether anyone's experienced nerve pain as a result of a back injury, but the fear of experiencing it always wins in the...

Microsoft Says It’s Time to Kill Off the Password

Two factor authentication using apps as opposed to SMS from reputable sources is pretty good. The fingerprint thing was piss easy to crack when I stumbled upon the idea one day out of curiosity.

Facial recognition can be fooled. Hell, we used to fool the fingerprint scanner on the the clock machines at one of my jobs using PVA glue - Not too sure if that works on the newer sensors as effectively.

Most people can't run Linux not because of some weakness in Linux, but because they rely on software that only runs under Windows. That's hardly a weakness in Linux - That's called a stranglehold on the market place and is the result of many, many decades of ruthless marketing...

Apple’s Apology for Batterygate Didn’t Go Far Enough

Warranty claims are also higher, did you read the part about me working in the trade for 25 years? And Mazda has one of the best warranty statistics around. Once again, don't make the mistake of questioning my intelligence. Anyway, this is a thread on crappy iPhones, not engine oil.

Apple’s Apology for Batterygate Didn’t Go Far Enough

I worked on Mazda's for 25 years, never saw any issues arise aside from VCT actuators, breather problems and people that didn't change their oil every 10,000k/6 months - The oil change issue was the biggest problem by far and almost always the reason why the Borg Warner TD04 failed. I can...

Apple’s Apology for Batterygate Didn’t Go Far Enough

So has the technology involved in the various power units in the chase for efficiency vs emissions. 2 - 2.3L engines running between 16 - 28psi boost with high compression and between 195 - 265kw's need their oil changed earlier than 15,000k/12 months no matter what the manufacturer's 'sales...

Apple’s Apology for Batterygate Didn’t Go Far Enough

With the advent of high compression/high boost (16psi+) direct injected engines running on the rich side to keep combustion temps controllable, you'd be stupid to stretch oil changes out to 15k+/12month+ intervals. My Mazda 3 MPS get's it's oil changed 'no later' than 10,000k/6 monthly intervals.

Problem installing Graphic card drivers for GTX 660 on windows 7

DDU's saved my ass a couple of times, sadly it's ability to completely block Windows 10 graphics driver updates is all but dead though.... Still a great option for completely wiping drivers and starting again though. You're installing with Admin privileges aren't you?

That'll do it. ;) Time for a cheap NIC, try to make it an Intel one if you can. Study those terminal commands we supplied you with, it's good to have an understanding of how they work in the event of another issue related to a NIC that isn't physically faulty.

Replacement for Macbook Air (to run Ubuntu)

System76 are expensive, but if you can find a reseller selling plain old Clevo's you may be on a win. Sadly I've never found one selling OEM Clevo's for a reasonable price here in AU.

Nexus 5 for the last 4 years on the same battery, no crashing. The fact that Apple chose to limit the performance of devices without informing the user and without the users consent indicates malicious marketing, there's no two ways about it. If there's a chance that an update could affect...

They don't even need to do that. What they needed to do was admit, back in the day of the iPhone 4 when everyone was complaining how the iPhone 5 had been released 'with a new iOS update' and their now older iPhone 4 was running slow, that Apple were deliberately manipulating their phone via...
