What Is Your Personal Favorite Video Card of All Time?

Diamond Viper V550 and the Hercules 3D Prophet II Ultra... First one, because it was the first real GPU I bought myself and wasn't a card I scabbed from someone else. The second because it was blue, and I loved the way it looked. The younger version of me loved weird colors that were not just...

Forcing 16x card to 4x speed

It will depend on the board you have. As an example. Some of the Intel boards like the Asus Gaming z790 board, your Top most full length PCIe slot only shares with the PCIe 5 M.2 that is directly above it. So if you run a M.2 drive off that slot, it will split that 16x PCIE 5 lane into 2 8x...

    Gamers Nexus vs LinusTechTips: Smackdown

Reminds me of when Kyle called out Jays2Cents, basically told the guy how can we trust anything you say when you don't know how to install Windows correctly. Linus is the same way... Dude poorly handles expensive tech like a rich kid handles daddies' money. Then grifts whatever brand he needs to...

New 13600KF Build with Asrock Z690 Steel Legend - High Temps Issue

Also, that CPU cooler came out in 2019. I don't know how long you've had it, or if its from an old build, but in my experience the shelf life on those things is barely 2 years before the plastic pumps start to gunk up and shit out. Also the fluid levels in those is notoriously low, so if you...

My clocks stay at 5.0GHz at all times on default settings, why?

Well that's just it, under load my overall voltages drop down to around 1.27~ which is kind of what I was trying to explain. Only I did it poorly because it would require quite a bit of time. But in essence. Each chip has a boost voltage curve. In adaptive mode, the vf curve is basically...

My clocks stay at 5.0GHz at all times on default settings, why?

    Its a 13700k , its 4 core 5.7, 6 core 5.6 and 8 at 5.5 with adaptive 1.37 volts with a positive offset.

My clocks stay at 5.0GHz at all times on default settings, why?

You are kind of thinking of old monolithic CPU's. Newer CPU's are all about total watt draw. Their power delivery ect. are totally different. Its not RAW voltage in anymore. My CPU sits at 1.4~ volts 5.7ghz just chilling in windows at 29c. Its because the voltage can stay high, to maintain...

13700KF with AMD PBO Boost at 6100Mhz PC Gaming maybe best AMD CPU I ever owned,,added 6200Mhz vid

I believe that you stop seeing improved FPS at around 5.7ghz. At least based on my testing with my 13700k. I am working on figuring out what RAM speed and timings gives the best latency for the best FPS. It would seem 7200mhz + around cl32/34 with tighter timings is a small bump. But I am having...

Weird issues on my 7900x build

Your issue sounds related to PCIe lane Sharing with regard to your nvme drives. I would try just one single drive in Slot 1 and see if the issue persists. If not, add the 2nd ect. Also for the Slow boot, you cannot fix this. DDR5 has to "Relearn" its timings with the memory controller every time...

Did I Degrade or Destroy my 5950x? Now with a response from Asus on page 2!

I like that tool but now it seems everytime I run it I get totally different results. It gets you close though. I suppose it could also be that I am running it after updates.

Did I Degrade or Destroy my 5950x? Now with a response from Asus on page 2!

Also as a quick aside, you can probably Push TDC/EDC to 240 based on those numbers im seeing. But that's up to you if you wanna try and push harder. You can even keep raising your Curve optimizer offset, my fear is you have 2 ragged cores, Core 3 and Core 5 will be your limiters. So if you wanna...

Did I Degrade or Destroy my 5950x? Now with a response from Asus on page 2!

This is where I am sitting with just minor PBO tweaks. What I have noticed, is if you set some of your PBO settings too high like EDC, PPT they will "Bug" and your chip will just not preform. Try THM Limit of 90, TDC 210, EDC 215, and PPT 500. PPT is way higher than it needs to be, BUT I have...

Lots of issues for few weeks with my PC. 5900x / Dark Hero

This is telling me that you have a core, or chiplet that is sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Essentially the curve optimizer is going to try to undervolt the cores until its unstable. What I would do is set your Load Line Calibration to a flat line, leave PBO off, or RMA the chip. Also, I know...

Will Zen 4 be the real deal and a worthy upgrade from Zen 3

These chips look juicy, I am betting you can get an all core OC of around 5 to 5.1ghz if my experience with Zen 2 and Zen 3 hold true. That 5.7ghz single threaded boost clock could be good though with just some basic PBO tuning as well. Kind of excited to get my hands on one.

Will Zen 4 be the real deal and a worthy upgrade from Zen 3

It sounds like the Fabric sweet spot will be 3000 and DDR5 at 6000 so, that should be a huge latency reduction between chiplets.

    Thoughts on AM5 CPU line-up

I am most excited about the base clocks getting a bump to ~4.5ghz and the boost clocks RUMORED to be above 5.4ghz. My 5950x is currently at 4.7 all core, so the dream would be 5ghz all core or even 5.1 with a good chip.

    Does AMD stop support?

All you can do is use the latest driver supported, generally they still support DX10, 11 and 12 (sometimes) so as long as they still access those API's you should be fine for a while. Otherwise its time to upgrade.

Ryzen Master - PBO Curve Optimizer Control - Configure in Windows Now!

My Hydra OC was actually better than my manual OC, it also showed my where my weak cores were. I was having weird issues with Warzone crashing on me and it turns out I was running -20 on a core that could only handle -6. So for me, it helped solve a nagging issue.

That chip looks bad to me.. Or has a bent or missing pin. The only time I have seen something like this is when I have had a short in the chip and there was nothing I could do to fix it. The only other thing I MIGHT try is a different PSU, maybe your 8 pin CPU rails are broken. With something...

AMD Ryzen 9 3900x Voltage Confusion

Yeah, I struggled with this for a while and found that essentially 1.32 to 1.35 under FULL load, is about the tops. What we have to understand with these new chips is that the damage is done when its High Volts and High Draw. So if you are running a stressful workload like P95 at 1.4 with no...

POLL/Discussion: How do you tweak your Ryzen CPU?

I set the voltage on a 3900x to about 1.35 or so, then slowly work the multi up until it isnt stable. Then I find a stable point, and then work my voltage down until its not stable. for me it's been around 4450 ~ 4500mhz all core at around 70~c and 1.3 to 1.35v just depends on what I want it to...
