    X99 on mITX: ASRock X99E-itx/ac

I'm sure no one will know this, but is the mPCIe (mini PCIe) slot on this motherboard Gen3? I know all mPCIe are x1, but I also read that they tend to be Gen1. I can't find information from ASRock or anywhere else, it just says the board has a mini PCIe, but doesn't say what gen. I'd like to...

    X99 on mITX: ASRock X99E-itx/ac

I am still rocking this board, and in case anyone is interested, regular desktop kits of 64GB DDR4 work just fine in it. I just bought a Kingston Fury 2x32GB 3200MHz kit and wasn't sure if it would work since the board's latest BIOS came out in 2018 which I believe was before desktop 32GB sticks...

Okay, fair points. Thanks for the reply. I look forward to your next project! It has big (or small?) shoes to fill.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

My guess is the dip is sales has nothing to do with the increase in average GPU size and everything to do with the general increase in cost of PC components, especially GPUs obviously, but also everything else. The pandemic has hit many people economically, so it just hasn't been a good year to...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I just read the news. I'm quite disappointed to be honest. I love my V5, I'll keep using it for as long as ITX motherboards exist, it's too bad I won't be able to get spare parts. Would have been nice to get a warning, so I could get a spare front I/O panel and some extra clips in case something...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Update, EVGA cards don't have mid-plates this generation, I don't know why. It's a bummer, it was the best option to use with the Accelero. Edit: If anyone cares, it doesn't seem like the Accelero will be viable for this generation because of how close the VRAM chips are to the die. That's why...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Yeah I think the FE would work great in the M1 because you'll basically have push-pull on the pass-thru portion of the heatsink with the bottom case fan feeding air and the GPU fan exhausting it straight up and out of the case. I'm really curious to see if the Accelero 3 will fit on the EVGA...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Oh right, I thought if there were 3 slots it wouldn't fit, but it's actually 4 slots that won't fit (or spacing for 4 slots rather). Interesting. However, I amend my previous statement. Those ASRock H410 boards would significantly throttle a 10700. ASRock imposes a 135W long-duration power...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

FYI there is a new 2-slot MicroATX board that will fit in the M1 -- the ASRock H410M-HDV. It's super basic, only $60! But will work with Intel 10-series CPUs. No VRM heatsinks, but in the M1 you'd have airflow over the VRMs so it won't be an issue. Honestly, this generation the non-K SKUs are...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Has anyone tried using der8auer's direct-die frame for 9th gen CPUs with a 9900K and an L9i? I'm trying to figure out if the L9i is compatible with the direct-die frame and I can't find that information anywhere...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Curious, how much space is there left with the V6 front mount between the PSU and the front wall? Do they almost touch? And is the PSU centered or slightly toward the left-side panel?
  13. Q

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Someone did it: They screwed the PSU in one place from the front somehow and then wedged it between the 24-pin and the front panel at a slight angle with double sided tape. Not exactly an ideal solution, and it still interfered with the board a little and bent that start button. I think...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Ah dream ruined. So you're saying with the stock V6 front mount it won't fit at all, you have to double-sided tape the PSU to the front (and toward the left panel) and then it'll barely fit, but the 24-pin probably won't fit? Turns out the board is nearly a year old, yet this is the first time...

It's really cool that there is now a premium 2-slot MicroATX board that fits in the M1, the ASUS Maximus XI Gene. It would have been great if they'd given it 4 DIMMs though. ASRock should make a TR4 board in that form factor.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Me too, I stripped one of my PCI slot screw holes. I'm fine using just the other one, otherwise I think your only option is washer+nut (ideally a rubber washer to avoid stripping the paint)... You gotta be very careful with these screws and not overtighten them.

    X99 on mITX: ASRock X99E-itx/ac

Someone on reddit found a used X99E-itx/ac on facebook marketplace (which I didn't even know was a thing) for $20. Made me a little upset. :D Found this on Facebook marketplace for $20... To think I paid $250 for mine 3 years ago. It's still a pretty high-end board. I'll upgrade to a 6950X...

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

Just curious, will it make the top panel less flush with the side panels or have you factored that into the new design? And one last question on the GPU support bracket -- will it be possible to fit 2 120mm fans + the bracket? Maybe with no front I/O?

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

Thanks for the replies! Just 2 follow-ups: I know you can use a dongle, but I think the point of the front I/O is to cut down on the use of dongles. I get that this is a transitional I/O of sorts. In the future, would you be open to doing headphone + mic on one side and two type-C ports on the...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I see, thank you. I guess you could still do M3 screw + nut? And then it would just require a bit more care and/or screwing them really hard to avoid them getting out of alignment. Doable? OptimumTech has 3D printed feet which are very similar to your new ones, on a V5 (or older) and they are...

Necere Congrats on the V6 redesign, some amazing improvements! Great work as always. A few comments/questions: New Front I/O -- I have to say, I'm not crazy about the combo jack. I think for anyone who uses front audio, headphone + mic is necessary, I use both. It also looks a bit weird this...

I see. Yeah, I struggled to imagine how it would be possible. It's too bad, it was the change I was most excited about. Seems like the 645LT isn't really that much easier to mount than the 545LC, though the improvements help a little. I blame Corsair's cables, why do they have to be so insanely...

Is it true that in V4, the PSU mount is raised 5mm to allow for easier installation of the 92mm AIO? I've read that in a few places, but the change isn't listed on SFFLab or Dan's website and looking at the case, the PSU mount doesn't seem to have moved. Can anyone clarify?

Has anyone thought about using the Alphacool Eisbaer Solo in the NCase M1? It combines a CPU block, pump, and a reservoir into a single large CPU block, so you can do a custom loop without a separate pump/res. Would love to see a build with it.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Oh I didn't realize that. Okay, not such a bad decision then. I was thinking about the old DTX boards that had the x16 in the second slot position, then you'd need 3 slots like the M1, and the H200i wouldn't work (unless you didn't use a graphics card). But this DTX board from ASUS (and I assume...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

This is great for us M1 owners, but I'm not sure it's a prudent decision on ASUS' part. Other than the M1 I can't think of an ITX case that supports DTX. Even large ITX cases like the the H200i don't support it. There isn't even an extra slot, they just wanted more room.

No, I actually asked this a while ago, you can't use the ATX bracket with the window. And yeah, 3 case intakes, and passive exhaust except the PSU which will be rotated inward, so it will provide additional exhaust. I have solid rubber plugs for the watercooling holes and a solid 3rd slot PCIe...

Okay, thanks for the information guys. Another question: How does the 645LT AIO compare to the U9S? Both heat exchangers are 92mm. The U9S has a larger heatsink, but the 645LT is liquid, so I'm thinking they're similar in performance? I want to finally get the window and I want to do Accelero...

DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I realized with the V4 and the right parts you'll be able to do a fully dust-managed build in the A4, albeit low powered. You can do dual Demciflex filtered 92mm fans on the bottom with one feeding the Asetek 645LT AIO. You can get the SF750 which the fan of will almost never spin for a build...

This is great, but doesn't is obstruct exhaust from the PSU? Even when idle and with the fan off, you still need heat to escape out the top. By the way, I have the Demciflex top filter and I have no issue with the magnets, they keep it firmly in place, so I'm puzzled by the issue you're having...

I asked about this one page back and Necere said the ATX bracket was incompatible with the TG panel, but maybe he meant with an ATX PSU installed? The bracket protrudes more than an ATX...
