    TV vs. "real" gaming monitor

I've been thinking about this exact thing May I ask what size screen you are using? I've been thinking of going with a 65" OLED and setting up a desk many feet away from it.

    LG 31MU97

It depends upon region and the consumer protection laws... Here in the USA we have the "hahaha ...you thought you would get some warranty from this large company??!" 1 year useless warranty. Same monitor gets 2 years in Europe and 3 years in Australia from what I've heard so far.

    LG 31MU97

Sad to say that after a little over 2 years my 31MU97 died and LG is telling me it's around $350 to fix it. Totally furious.

    LG 31MU97

Wow? Is it that old? Time flies! I've been loving mine the entire time. Really a great monitor. Edit: This made me search my email receipts - Yep! Fall of 2014 from Fry's Amazing how fast it goes by!

    LG APPLE UltraFine 5K Display

I was excited about this and the pricing until I realized they didn't make it a true docking station type monitor set up and that it has no card reader or legacy USB ports built in. Those seem like a really odd omissions given that the old Apple thunderbolt display was specifically built to...

Dell UP3214Q vs UP3216Q vs Asus ProArt 5K

Has anyone been able to find pricing and release date for the ProArt 5k? My searching isn't revealing much. 32" 5k is literally my dream monitor - Simply perfect for me.

So, Where are the 5K monitors?

Sorry - My mistake for not being more clear - Sort of assumed that all would garner that it was my personal preference as it was my comment. It's all subjective and to your point, I also would rather have a 30-32 vs 27 at 2x 5k The main reason 1440p at 27" doesn't work for me (native or 5k 2x)...

So, Where are the 5K monitors?

COMPLETELY agree with this. I'd already have a 5k monitor, but 27" is just too small for perfect 2x scaling in terms of effective size of onscreen elements. But a 5k 30-32" would be basically perfect

    Seiki 42" 4K SE42UGT Experience

Got a smashed panel from HHGregg on this model 2 days ago - Sucks My uncle got one that was in good shape a couple weeks ago though and has been very much enjoying 4k @ 60hz!

    Samsung 32-Inch 720p LED TV

Side note: Was there some sale on these or something? I'm in Idaho and several people around here are also selling "sealed brand new" of the exact TV...all trying to ask exactly what retailers are asking ($199). Seems like somebody had a clearance and people are trying to make a buck or...

    Samsung 32-Inch 720p LED TV

No chance for you to sell it locally? The shipping is super prohibitive for all but really close to you anyhow.

    Samsung 32-Inch 720p LED TV

You're asking the same price as major retailers and Samsung itself? Why would people not just buy it from a place they can easily return it? (major retailer)

Has anyone puchased a monitor from Jet?

I will say that the return process on Jet is pretty easy, but the refund takes nearly 3 weeks to get (has happened on 2 items for me now)

5K - how are we coming?

Perhaps you missed the last line?

5K - how are we coming?

I think you should look that up again - Retina is a marketing term for very high pixel density. It's not really related to the display panel proximity to the glass.

5K - how are we coming?

? For things beyond gaming, 5k is easy to drive right now

5K - how are we coming?

I'm only talking about the display - which is 2nd to none right now. I agree about iMac's as a complete product, but I only want the display (at larger than 27")

5K - how are we coming?

"Need" is the wrong word around these parts....haha That said - Play around with a 5k iMac and you probably won't be asking that question. Simply the most beautiful experience I've ever seen in computing. I just find 27" 1440p a bit too small and don't want to use scaling -- thus 5k 1440p @...

5K - how are we coming?

Is anybody else a little frustrated with how slow the 5K bandwagon is rolling? I've been waiting all year for some more news about the LG 31.5 inch 5K and it just seems dead silent. I really think that the 31.5 inch's physical size is absolutely perfect for pixel doubled "retina" 1440p...
