So, in two minds here, bought two X5670's off of ebay, on one hand i got a god tier bin for one of them, on the other hand, the second was DOA, in any case though the working one does 4.5GHz with 1.32v (1.33v ish under load), here's my cinebench and cpuz thing
yeah beefy cooling isn't an issue :P I have a H100i pro currently though I'm stepping back to a dark rock pro 3 shortly, I've had X5670's running 4.5GHz 1.4v daily on the DRP3 though without any issues so cooling isn't a problem on that front, I think I'm going to grab that pair of X5675's for...
Ahh, was hoping a little higher than that, I've been able to get 4.5GHz out of every X5670 i've had at 1.4v or lower (best i had was 1.32v for 4.5) I tend to push mine pretty much as far as they can go at 1.4v for my daily chips since cooling and ram isn't really a problem and what have you...
so my X5675 friend fell through, I'm eying up a pair of X5675's on ebay for like 20 quid more and with some dell server heatsink things i can try sell on after the fact, What's a rough average to expect from X5675's? or would i be better off grabbing a pair of W3670s for a little less do we...
Here, quick question, the X5675 is just an X5670 with 1 extra multi step isn't it? I've not found all that much info on this unfortunately, I'm going to be nabbing this X5675 from a friend of mine but having never played with an X5675 before I'm not sure what the difference is, are they just...
So, an interesting thing just fell into my lap, friend of mine upgraded to a coffee lake i5 thing (more of a side grade imo but his wife wanted him to get something that didn't use as much power or get as hot) and is selling on his X58 kit and has offered me his X5675, normally I wouldn't bother...
I've killed a few in the past when pushing for HWbot #1 scores so it's not impossible, but i have awful luck so I don't want to take any chances there, though what I'm likely going to do is get one X5680 for £32 off of aliexpress and one W3670 for £22 both including shipping, the W3670 has a...
yeah a W3680 is tempting but I could get a pair of X5680's for not much more (60 for a pair vs 50 for a W3680) and I always prefer to keep a pair handy in case I kill one when pushing bench numbers, that and with the X5680 I could be cheeky and grab a few hwbot first places ;P
some of the quads were nice, i've used an E5640 and a few X5570s in the past and those were nice, for the 12 quid i paid for my X5660 you really can't go far wrong with that, and yeah this platform really was built from the ground up for hex cores too imo, these things fly with hex units, this...
it really has been a really long lasting platform hasn't it, I didn't start on X58 from new, my first X58 build was back in 2016 but it's always been the cornerstone of fun to overclock and not terribly expensive for the performance even to the point that i still use it to this day, really solid...
It's honestly surprising how well this platform has lasted to be honest, im still running my rampage 3 gene with an X5660 at 4.1GHz daily, can do 4.4 daily with 1.4v and 4.6GHz for benching with 1.55v but i need a fan on the heatsink for anything past the 4.1GHz daily clock which doesn't work so...
Hello all, I am soon to be obtaining a cheap X99 UD5 from a friend, I plan on pairing this with an E5 2630 V3 and 16gb of DDR4 3000MHz (i know it'll run at around 1800MHz or 2133MHz but it's temporary till I can afford a 5960X or so) now, my question regarding the SSD's is in reference to the...
Apologies for digging up an old post, I have recently been given a xeon E5 2630 V3 ES in the QEYW stepping which going from the list is an L0 stepping, does anyone know if there are any issues with this stepping? I am asking as i wonder if it is worth getting the rest of the kit to get it...
yeah older drivers were pretty much the first thing i tried, tried older drivers on 7 too, no luck unfortunately, if i want my 4th monitor back it looks like ill have to invest into another crappy gpu specifically for the purpose of more monitors, that being said if i do that it gives me more...
so, update, the swap stuff took allot longer than i had anticipated, it would seem that it is not indeed an issue with windows, same issue is here with windows 7, seems like it might be the card, ill have to see if it's a dead cap or something when my soldering station turns up, if not then ill...
will give these a go when im home with the exception of the windows reinstall, im swapping some server parts in for a new SSD likely mid week so ill need to reinstall for that anyways, ill try the other suggestions and failing that ill put up with three displays till i get the other SSD...
tried rolling drivers back quickly and same issue as before so i don't think it's drivers, can't rule it out fully but it's not likely to be drivers at this point
most i've had running at any one time is 4 of them, 2 DVI, one HDMI, one DP to VGA, though i am on the newer drivers so that may be something to look into, will have a look into this when i return from my outing, as for OS it's win 10 pro but i've never had any problems with 4 displays before...
with a single display it works fine but still there is the issue of one port not working but the rest being fine, this port does change around though so sometimes it's the topmost DVI and sometimes it's DP, sometimes it has been all of them at one point individually.
im aware my english isn't...
hello everyone, thanks for taking time to read this, ill jump straight in with what the issue is, my current gpu is an asus HD 7950 DCU2, i don't have another card to go to nor the money for another, effectively the card works fine, not had any issues at all till lately, and basically what it...
Sorry to necro an old thread, but how did it go? The macho 120? I have the same case and I can nab one of these cheap (like £25) so I'm wondering how it did with temps? Did you overclock at all with it? Many thanks in advance
it's on 1701, latest i can get for the board, thought that was the issue when it didn't work the first time and have since updated it, made no difference unfortunately
ahh yes, sorry about that, i should have mentioned it, and yes it does work with the 940, currently my main system (the surface on the 940 is a bit ruined though so temps are terrible, idle at 60, though that's partly to do with the tiny cooler i have)
hello all, im writing this up today because i have recently scored a rampage 2 gene for cheap, has an i7 940 in it at the moment along with 12gb ram and the like, i recently nabbed an X5570 cheap also since everything on the net shows that the X5570 works with this board fine, the X5570 turned...
and im back on the xeons, have been away from them for a bit, but there's something about them that calls me back to them whenever i try to leave :P i should know better by now, the board i had with the L5640's did a boomerang though, same exact board that i had before, just got it back now :P...
this SR2 im to be obtaining can hold a 200 BCLK and with chips capable of it 4.7GHz (he has a pair of X5680's in at 4.5GHz at the moment but he has borrowed pairs of X5690's and gotten 4.7 prime stable, though he only used that for a few weeks as he had to give the cpu's back)
thanks, but...
i have a small deal lined up shortly with the advent of a deal made with a friend, the deal is basically he's looking to upgrade to a platform with PCI-E 3 since he's hit the limit of PCI-E 2 (he's a storage buff so we;re talking raid on enterprise grade SSD's and the like all going through a...
im looking more and more towards the E5-2667-v3 at the moment, it's shaping up to be the better move really since this will be used for games on the side, i know the 2670-3 would do the job too but since ill be throwing some high level hardware into this in terms of gpu's (likely a 980(ti) or if...
