    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Yeah, 4K resolution on anything below 35-37" is such a waste.... a waste of GPU power used to display so many details which our eyes can't really see. I definitely don't see what the manufacturers are thinking about when they offer 3840x2160 resolution on 27" monitors.... that puzzles me

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

As I understand it, 40 will use a lower pulse rate for PWM than 60 making it "flicker" more or possibly worse if you are PWM sensitive... this is what I meant

Actually, my framerate goes up around 35% (from 27.2 to 36.8 average FPS in Heaven Valley Benchmark and similar results in games). This monitor is absolutely stunning in every game I play... the picture is so crisp in 4K and it's so huge that the immersion is perfect! You will love it ;)

Hi mate, yes you can. I use a custom resolution of 3840x1607 21:9 aspect ratio with no rescaling and games look gorgeous with this res. The great thing is the blacks are so deep on this monitor that you don't even notice the black bars even playing in the dark. Like you, this is why I saw no...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

I know it's supposed to be off at 100% brightness. I have no problem so far using mine (30-50 hours) but I guess a "safer" setting would be nice. Also, I read somewhere that depending on the modes and brightness mix used by the monitor, PWM could be used or not. So maybe at 100% in...

    Philips BDM4065UC - 40" 4K 60Hz monitor thread

Taken from the TFT Central Review: "...the SmartUniformity mode offers an improvement to the uniformity of the screen, some other areas are impacted negatively. At 100 brightness, we are now limited to a maximum luminance of 198 cd/m2. Not actually a bad thing as the maximum before was ~ 300...
