Just use it as an excuse to take a holiday to California. If you bring back a couple of GPUs, a big SSD and some RAM, the airfare is almost free.

Professional colour work is literally the only reason I could see to do this - but if you do professional colour work, you won't have this monitor anyway. Given how subjective colour is (the dress!), surely you can just adjust the settings until you find settings that you are happy with?

I sit really close to mine. My use case is somewhat different- I use the extra real estate for 15-20 tables of online poker. If I sit further away it's hard to make out bet sizes etc. I'm not trying to see the whole picture at once, it's more like scanning around a multi-monitor setup without...
