I have a 3070TI and things ran decent enough. I threw in some old DND 5E books and it was able to pull up items from stat blocks and tables decently enough. The non-OCR book was a bit of a struggle. Might be a good lookup helper for a DM.
I also have 64GB of ram and it is a matter of trading...
It depends on your hardware and what you are looking to get out of it. There is quite a bit of discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA/
Coding assistants are popular, role playing chats, and there are now options to read local files as a backend dataset.
The largest factor right...
Steam uses a ton of CPU power to download and decompress the game updates. That I checked you couldn't disable updates entirely but I set my games to update at 5am and I just leave my client closed when I am not using it then update manually.
My computer has five SSDs. Three of them are M.2 and two of them are SATA. My NAS still has spinners though. Once you get a drive that goes 6GB/s+ you can't go back.
All these years I have just used NoScript and skipped both Adblock Plus and UBO. Way back in the day I used the original Adblock before I just switched to NoScript. Mostly because my main goal was to stop sites from executing whatever they wanted in my browser. Am I really missing anything by...
I use Firefox with NoScript and have Youtube Premium. I just tested it and noticed no slow downs. Firefox is using 1% CPU during video playback. No delays or adblock prompt (some sites detect NoScript as an adblocker).
Using a VPN is the best option, or something like Zero-Tier.
I have noticed one issue with Comcast for some services. When I am on my home network I can connect directly using my computer name and port. But if I connect through my domain desktop.domain.com that points at my external IP it will...
I made the graphics suggestions they they recommended on their Steam home page and it ran fine. I have a middling city that I've spent about 2 hours on and it runs pretty good with my 7900X and 3070TI. There were moments it chugged it bit when my city was hit by a tornado but it ran fine otherwise.
I am looking to purchase a 1.8" SATA II SSD for usage in some data acquisition hardware. Due to a hardware limitation with the TI OMAP processor in the DAQ unit it must be SATA II (it cannot use SATA III drives).
I've tried purchasing hardware labeled as SATA II off Amazon, eBay, Aliexpress...
I've only "demoted" old power supplies when I have a new build where its cost dwarfs the cost of a new power supply (e.g. new PSU is only 10% of the build cost). At that point its usually a new MB, CPU, GPU, etc. anyways so I just keep the old PSU with the old parts.
Yes. It really isn't any different than logging into your android phone with your google account. And it enables many similar features such as backups, settings sync, system recovery, etc.
We all sold our souls to corporations a long time ago.
I had this issue with my current B650 build with my 7900X. If I shut off my PC I could not turn it back on until I flipped the power switch and/or unplugged it. Turned out to be a dying power supply. Once I replaced it all my issues went away.
My 7900X idles around 44C. I messed with my overclock a long time ago so I couldn't really tell you what the settings are now. My cooler is the Noctua NH-D15.
I leave my G604 in lightspeed mode (not BT) and it lasts about 3 months with one rechargeable AA, and I use it several hours a night. I have three batteries in rotation on a USB charger that I swap a few times a year. In order to engage the infinite scoll you need to press a button to unlock it...
I run Debian on my VPS. It works great for stability and security updates. if you want the latest and greatest software it isn't the best option unless you like to add third party repositories and even then there may be difficulties if the base libraries are out of date.
I started to have issues with my two APC units so I switched to Eaton. I currently have a 5S1500LCD 1500VA unit for my main PC and a 3S550 550VA for my NAS. They aren't pure sine wave but I haven't had any issues.
I still think the single relay option in post 4 is best for cost and simplicity. If cost isn't a concern a designed part like that YPWR is a great solution.
You probably could go that route to step up the voltage but at that point the design is starting to get complicated.
Maybe instead you can purchase a 12V DPDT relay and wire it up like the below.
If PSU 2 is off, the relay is not activated and the fans run off PSU 1.
If PSU 2 is on, the relay...
I looked around a bit and didn't see anything obvious like a dual power supply joiner.
Depending on how far you are willing to DIY it you could get a couple of 4-pin molex extenders and a couple of high current diodes (15A is likely overkill, maybe something smaller would work) and then Y them...
The last time I had a double click issue they had me go through the same steps as Vile to check the software, firmware, and also that click registering website.
The didn't make my record a video but they did have me report the results back to them.
After that they processed the RMA immediately...
By default Windows goes to sleep after a period of time - I think somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes. It is possible that after you turn off your monitor the PC goes to sleep and then when you wake it up the monitor turns on first and then the PC takes some additional time before it is...
