    LG 48CX

Is it BGR or RGB though? I have a 4k 48" Sony 850b that I use as a computer monitor and TV that I'd be interested in replacing it with this...

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

@kasakka That looks... pretty horrible. I guess I either need to wait a year or setting for going back to duel-screen set up (instead of one large 43" 4k display).

What's the best 40"-43" Display (Monitor or TV)?

Be warned that it's unconfirmed if the XG43UQ is an RGB monitor. It's current model XG43Q is not RGB with people reporting that text is blurry on the screen.

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

How did you flip yours around? Also, can I get a picture of the screen with text (at 100% scale) to see how sharp it is being flipped?

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

Changing the cleartype aliasing to grayscale mode can help with text on a BGR. I find the grayscale setting is overall better than the "BGR aliasing". However afaik, you can only set this mode in the registry or using a tool (like the one I linked to in the last page). hotdogee did you take a...

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

How is the clarity of desktop text at native resolution? Can you change the cleartype aliasing to grayscale for testing to see if it helps with clarity- can you use this tool https://github.com/bp2008/BetterClearTypeTuner

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

AHhhh I just found out my 48" Sony XBR 850b is actually a BGR (and NOT rgb as I had thought)... which I had no idea for years. No wonder I thought the text was a little blurry. After some tuning today, I found that Grayscale Cleartype is much more legible than either rgb or bgr aliasing. I used...

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

Thanks for info! For my 49" Sony x850b: 1. sitting about 3.5ft from it 2. no idea on coating 3. cleartype settings all tuned. It's not bad, but my eyes do tire of looking at the text more for long periods. 4. It does have sharpness in OSD and it's turned up. 5. yep, all tuned 6. indeed using...

The perfect 4K 43” monitor! Soon! Asus XG438Q ROG

Currently I use a 48" 4k screen at 100% scaling and sometimes I still find fonts not as sharp as I'd like, even though the screen is RGB (Sony XBR 850b). I'm really concerned about getting this BGR monitor if there's any issue with reading text at 4k/100% scale for 8+ hours a day. If this one...

    Asus 43" 4k vs Acer 43" 4k

Does anyone know how far I can drive these screens without DSC?

    Asus 43" 4k vs Acer 43" 4k

Ah, thanks. Doing some digging, it seems only the Turing (nvidia 2080) cards support DSC, while the Pascel cards (1080) can be patched* to use DisplayPort 1.4 but without DSC (or at least no DSC 1.2). * https://www.nvidia.com/object/nv-uefi-update-x64.html *...

    Asus 43" 4k vs Acer 43" 4k

Currently, only AMD supports DSC which is a shame. DSC is also not a silver bullet as it does do a form of chroma compression to a certain extent (so there is some loss of detail). So if I'm using nvidia, what's the max I can drive XG43UQ without DSC? Maybe 4k at 8bit?

    Asus 43" 4k vs Acer 43" 4k

What does this mean exactly? Does it mean that duel displayport inputs is required for full features (4k 4:4:4 10bit), but VRR will not work when both inputs are used? Is this true for both the Asus and Acer displays?
