Mine also came in last week and I am very pleased with it! Both sides of it were easy to plug in and it makes my build look much cleaner.
Here is what it looked like before getting the CableMod adapter and cable:
OLEDs use the sample and hold method of refreshing their picture by default so they'll still have motion blur from that and won't match a CRT in terms of motion clarity. The LG OLEDs from C8 on have black frame insertion but the refresh rate that it works at depends on the model.
So far I've had to RMA two Alienware QD-OLEDs for burn-in. Both were burned in from having two browser windows side-by-side burning in the middle scroll bar and URL bar. I noticed the burn-in on the first one after about two months and the second one started to burn-in almost immediately but I...
I checked mine last night and it looks similar to yours. I noticed it had a slight gap and the retention clip on the adapter wasn't fully clipped. I tried to push it in more but it wouldn't budge. Then I tried to reseat it and still couldn't get it to go in further. I didn't want to push it any...
When I installed my 4090 FE this past weekend I had to really bend the adapter to get it to fit in my case with the side panel on like many others. Even then my side panel may be touching the cable just a little bit. The card is incredible but the included adapter and connector placement on it...
Yeah, that worked in my case. Mine was very tilted though so yours being only slightly tilted could be something else. Just don't apply too much force to be safe.
Same thing happened with my replacement unit. It was greatly tilted toward one side but I was able to adjust it. It took a little bit of force like it was stuck but eventually it loosened and I could tilt it back.
My replacement monitor arrived today. It came packaged in a standard brown Dell box. Unfortunately it wasn't packaged well due to the inner padding being too thick for the box itself so it bulged out in the center and broke the tape in that area. The monitor didn't have the bubble wrap taped...
There is a newer firmware version in ones that were recently shipped: https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/AW3423DW-Pixel-Auto-Warning-Message-missing/td-p/8198985
I'll report back with the firmware version that comes with my replacement whenever it gets here.
It wasn't there before. In the pic I was using the Steam chat window and if I move it over the scrollbar area in the center it lines up perfectly. Same with the lines from the bottom part of the YouTube player.
Interesting. I use mine about 6 hours a day and I regularly move the windows around and minimize the one I'm not using. The center scroll bar on mine isn't dark like yours so maybe that's why mine caused image retention. I'm also using the default bright theme.
Looks like I'm starting to get some burn-in from using two Chrome windows side by side and watching a lot of YouTube. The faint line going down the center of the screen seems to be from the scroll bar and the one towards the lower part of the screen is from the bottom part of the YouTube video...
I use DLSS performance on my 3090 to get as close as possible to averaging 175 fps for my monitors refresh rate. Usually stays around 150 fps at 3440x1440. Pretty hilarious for a game so old.
Mine had the bubble wrap marks, too but there are some other marks that I can't get off. They look like small etchings/scuffs in the AR coating. I've also noticed a few hairline scratches. At this point I'm not going to bother RMA'ing it since I haven't noticed anything else wrong with the panel...
I've been playing around with it. It's rough around the edges in some spots but still very, very cool! Major props to the guy that made it. Would be cool to see it be done with Doom 3 some day.
The way I'd describe it is that the colors on the Alienware screen look more pure than the colors on the CX I have since QD-OLEDs don't have the extra white sub-pixel that can dilute the colors.
I noticed some marks on mine from the bubble wrap layer that was on the screen but they rub off easily. There are some marks on mine that aren't rubbing off but they don't bother me enough to send it back. Still, Dell should have done a better job with packaging.
ABL has never bothered me much on LG OLEDs. Maybe it has more to do with Doom Eternal but in 1000 mode I can see the HUD elements and screen brightness fluctuate often. In 400 mode this doesn't happen and the screen appears brighter overall but it could be that the whites are too bright and...
I've mostly been using HDR 400 on this monitor since I got it thinking it was better overall but after watching Vincent's review I'm not sure. The ABL is noticeable in Peak 1000 mode but maybe it's the more accurate mode since it doesn't clip the whites? What do you guys think?
Same for me but in Doom: Eternal with HDR 1000 mode I notice a lot a ABL. So much so I prefer 400 mode in that game. Haven't tried 1000 mode with any other HDR game.
Does anyone know the best way to calibrate the screen just with the OSD without any special tools? Or will I just need to wait for an ICC profile to become available?
I tried some older games on it last night that don't have in-game motion blur as well as Doom: Eternal with motion blur turned off and I am very impressed with the motion clarity. High refresh rates plus OLED pixel response times is the closest we are going to get to CRT motion clarity without...
After playing around with this monitor with both SDR and HDR games I can safely say I am blown away with it. I tried both HDR400 and HDR1000 in Doom Eternal with it's in game HDR settings set to their default. In HDR1000 mode the ABL is too aggressive and to me negates the advantage of it being...
When it comes to text it looks a little off when compared to LCDs with a standard RGB pixel structure. It's more noticeable with certain text colors/fonts on certain colored backgrounds. One example is the Steam chat window. With black text on a white background it doesn't look too bad to me...
The black levels are excellent so far, what you'd expect from an OLED panel. I can see how the AG coating can make the blacks look worse though in an environment with light hitting the screen directly. The AG coating has a purplish tint like on many screens out there but the coating on this...
Still have to play with it a bit more but so far it's looking good!
EDIT: Seriously, getting through the rest of the work day while it's behind me is going to be tough lol!
The order status page for me still shows that it hasn't shipped but I got a text from FedEx saying it shipped. It's also showing up in the FedEx app. Wouldn't be surprised if many have shipped already and the Dell site just hasn't updated yet.
I ordered Sunday at around 1 AM. I got the shipping notification via text message from FedEx. It hasn't showed that it shipped on the Dell order status page.
Uh-oh, mine hasn't shipped yet either. It's showing a message under the status bar that says "We are working on your order and it is still on track to meet the communicated delivery date". We'll see if I get a call, too.
