    SENTRY 3.0: Development and Suggestions

Will have to figure it out, but we're not there yet. We are considering the change in how the stand is attached - optimally it would be placing the case onto it/into it without a need to put the case down on something first to attach it. But it complicates the shape of it, so for now there's no...

8 mm hole plugs. This is a generic item. Pull the broken piece out and check the other dimensions for yourself. The outer diameter was something like 12 mm and it shouldn't go inside more than 8 mm.

    SENTRY 3.0: Development and Suggestions

It's not about the manufacturing process when it comes to to variants but the production scale and how the case is designed. With around 1000 units in a production run adding options makes it so you need to keep track of these options and make sure that each unit gets parts from the correct...

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

We have no idea so far as this depends on how much of the heat is in one place. We were ready to get the XC3 card from EVGA and waiting for notification about new stock, but it never came. And that was until there were some news about new cards coming which means either significantly better...

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

Not really. We tried doing so with various approaches and in every possible scenario the end results have aesthetic that you don't really want to look at. Also lets see if the design gets to stay for more than one generation, especially the one that had such issues with availability. It does...

I think this should fit. The 2070 Mini from Gigabyte is smaller than 1080 Mini which was really close to fitting in 1.1 and this card seems to be using the same cooler shroud design as the 2070 Mini.

I'd like to note that when you are talking about the noise, define the conditions and what is your comfort level. I had a talk on reddit with someone stating that he's C7Cu or G with noctua fan is fine, but at the end of conversation he confirmed that he's fine because he has his headphones on...

Most likely not. The heatsink looks like it'll be 4~5 mm thick, and the pcb itself of the m.2 will be around 4 mm offset from the pcb of the board, and there's also surface mounted components on it. You have 7 mm of space between the motherboard and the plate that's holding the stand-offs. I...

Loque Ghost S1 with 3900X Recommendations (Thermal issues)

With Zen 2 AMD is stepping outside the TDP with boost like intel was doing so far. So a 65W TDP SKU has actually 88W max socket power and it's pretty often pulling this much. Also max temp is 95c so it is going with turbo towards it unless it hits power target or this max temp, similarly to how...

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

There's something I haven't had time to show for some time. Some time ago one of the backers asked about various ways we could adapt Black Ridge to the boards other than the Aorus ones that have socket far enough from pci-e slot so the fin stack doesn't obstruct it. I found one way to do...

GTX 970 was a 145W~150W TDP card iirc. If you want to add case fans like this, make sure to get noctua fans in this size, otherwise they will be chirping a lot. Also you will have to somehow distance those fans from the perforation quite a bit to prevent noise from turbulence. But it may help...

The height seems to be measured with the end of the pci bracket and we were talking about it in the sentry 2.0 topic on sff.net, so you can check it out there on most recent pages.

I believe only asrock has a pure 2 slot 5700XT non-reference so far that may fit.

SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

We are supporting 2 slot card meaning ~41mm thick. There's ~9mm of space between the card and the perforation so theoretically you can sqeeze in a 50mm thick card, but practically it will get really loud because of the turbulence when fans get closer to the perforation with risk of fan blades...

Right now you will have to wait for us to deliver all cases to backers, because we will start thinking about what's next only afterwards. Note that case manufacturing is not our main line of business, so making another batch may not happen right away. From other news, Wendell from...

Issue(s) with PCIe 4.0 & PCIe extension cables...?

Does it really matter to anyone in gaming? Right now I think we're barely using 8 lanes of pci-e 3.0 bandwidth, techpowerup did this kind of test multiple times and gamers nexus did one as well. Pci-e 4.0 will matter for bifurcation and nvme storage only, unless you are doing some...

Neat. I've got an ikea desk with just two wheels at the back only for mobility to make sure it doesn't move easily when not needed. Bad part of it is that ikea's wheeled legs have completely different look than the standard ones.

Where's the base for such expectations? I don't expect AMD to overstep the tdp do much. They did it properly with 1700, 2700, 2600 etc and the node drop to 7nm with chiplet design lets them go up with clocks on 65w SKUs as well. Also what Ej24 said is quite reasonable.

I believe it was ~4.8 kg, but note that couriers count the volumetric weight or something like that where if your volume is high it will counted as more than it actually weights. The package was 60x40x15cm iirc.

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

If 3700X is really going to be equal in games to 9900K then it's going to be a go to recommended CPU for Sentry 2.0 with its 65W TDP unless you really have to have those 12 (or hopefully 16) cores.

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

It'll be fine. It's as you said - 2mm taller than reference sized GPU so you still have 16 mm of free space in the oversize area. Gigabyte triple fan cards are mostly fan as long as they're not 2.5~3 slot wide.

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

The last gen spreadsheet was made for 1.1 where we weren't really recommending 1080TI and thus assumed if you want to do this you have to know what you're getting into. The current gen list has the 2080 TI because of the increased perforation area. You have to look at the specs and photos of...

I just had a chance to check this card out, and ASUS has a 13.4 cm height in their specifications for 1080/1070/1060 strix, but it's actually not true for 1060. I've measured this with calipers and it's 130.2 mm actually and it really, really tightly fits in Sentry 2.0. This does not...

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

Well, yeah, that's also my issue with this cooler. It goes everywhere over the board including pci-e slot (except for this single aorus board), so you have to have standard profile memory, nothing above the board in your case and you are still limited to this 92 mm fan, so you're not really...

    DAN HSLP-48: A powerful sub 50mm heatsink

The thing is, the render is made with perspective and the base is closer than the fin stack, so in your mock-ups (and my earlier mockups) the fin stack is slightly smaller than in reality even if you scale the fan to its real 92 x 92 mm dimensions. The Black Ridge on Aorus B450 board thing...

    DAN HSLP-48: A powerful sub 50mm heatsink

You're way off with your mockups - the 111/115 mm dimensions you've got is actually 121 mm - remember that you can use 120 mm fan on this. The dimension where you have 136/138 mm is actually 140 mm. I measured this to do a rough CAD model.

    DAN HSLP-48: A powerful sub 50mm heatsink

How is this going to help with fitting black ridge in a case that has more standard layout than your A4-SFX or its clones? I assumed he followed up on me for this to fit this in more standard case than yours. In my mock-ups made when Black Ridge launched, it already shown that it'd be hard to...
