WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Will do. My inclination was that it wasn't something adressable in Windas, but I might try turning the G2 down anyway. Video cable is the one inbuilt into the monitor, but originally I was plugging it into my modern PC via an adapter. Unfortunately plugging directly into my 98 rig gave me the...

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Hi folks, I was given a free P991 today. I got it home and mostly seemed okay, but I've noticed a strange shadowing effect to the right of bright text or other boxes. Even the mouse. Here's a picture, the brightness is high to make it easier to photo, but it's still pretty visible with it...

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Ah okay, I was only after horizontal size. I don't think it's an issue with the monitor so much, but the line doubler is adding black space around the image, which the monitor sees as 'real' image, but the width controls don't offer enough to send off the edge of the screen. To be honest it's...

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Yes pretty much. To be honest I wasn't going for an exact scentific calibration, just using 240p suite and NEC Test generator to get what I wanted. I'm happy with the image quality now, I've been carefull to get no blooming etc. The only thing I can figure out, is does Windas offer the ability...

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Ah yes, I have done it that way as well, but just wanted to bump up the contrast ever so slightly without reconfiguring the entire thing again. The only issue I have now is that some modes my OSSC outputs don't fill the screen, horizontally, but I don't know if that's the monitor or the OSSC.

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Good to know, I'm glad that's the case. If you happen to know as well, what's the best setting to bump up the max available contrast? I have C_MAX_B_CENT which seems to affect it, but that resets if I switch the monitor off for a while. There is also the C_MAX_B_MAX setting. I don't want to...

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Can anyone comment on what sort of warm up time is expected for the colours to settle? My Dell P1130 takes 20-30 minutes I'd say for the blacks to settle to where they should be.

Thanks for that, that's good to know. Slightly raised blacks in some cases shouldn't be too much of an issue, as soon as I can stop fiddling around with the settings that is.

WinDAS White Point Balance guide for Sony Trinitron CRTs

Hi folks, Really interesting thread. I've spent a good deal of time looking at the info as I have a P1130. The black levels were quite raised so initially I just did a G2 tweak which helped a lot. Just want to clarify something though. I use the monitor with my Win98 retro PC, which is fine...

Alright cool thank you for all your help. I think what I'll do is live with it for a few days and see how it is, and see if it improves at all. I have plenty of time on the return so no issues there. To be honest if it doesn't get any better I might just stop noticing it all together since I...

Ok cool. I think I'm just overthinking it to be honest. I was reading the German review for the monitor for it and they say this: I think I have that too. The bottom left side is ever so slightly brighter than the other corners. Now Amazon will replace it free of charge but I'm really debating...

Alright I tried to get some shots of my monitors next to each other in a dark room. Not an exact science but I used the same camera settings and I set my 2783 to 100 percent brightness and X34 to 30. Does this look more or less right? VA: IPS: Does that look more or less right? I have...

Hmm ok, I'll try it out tonight when it's dark outside. I feel like there's some sort of glow in the bottom left of my 2783HSU but I don't know if that's just viewing angle stuff. I think I'm being too hard on the monitor, especially considering what it cost vs the X34.

Hi all I have a bit of a noob question. I picked up the X2783HSU with the intention of using it as a media monitor/for my consoles. It's my first experience with a VA monitor and I'm just wondering, how black should the blacks be? I have an Acer X34 next door to it and I think the black is...

Looking to create a GPU only loop.

Hi all, I have a pair of Titan Xs currently with references coolers. Now until recently I've used a pair of headphones with my PC so noise wasn't really an issue. However now I have a soundbar and the noise from the fans can be quite distracting so really I thought why not go the whole hog...

    34" 21:9 UltraWide Displays (3440x1440) - LG UM95/UM65 & Dell U3415W

So I've got my heart set on a 34 inch monitor now. Question is how necessary is the curve if you primarily game? That's pretty much exclusively what I'd use it for, obviously the flat panel is cheaper but if the curve really is so different I could stretch for that.

Returning 4k Screen, would like some advice.

Hi all, Bit of background - impulse bought a 4K screen and didn't cancel it in time. Filed to return to, so I can do that if I want. The input lag was too high for me with VSync on and additionally, being realistic I'm not going to be able to max out The Witcher 3 @4K ( I would rather do that...

R9 295X2 to be on sale at as low as $999

So they're £699 here. Its sort of tempting. I'd like to see the Titan 2 but I doubt that'll be very good for the price or performance.

I have 4790K 12GB RAM ASUS ROG Hero VII 100 GB SDD I'm pretty bad when it comes to wanting good performance haha. I'm concerned about supporting the Oculus Rift. Apparently it needs 90fps on a 1440p screen.

I currently have two 7970's. Worth the pop for me instead of waiting for Nvidia?

    7970 physical damage. Fixable?

Sorry to dig this up, but if anyone was interested, I sent the card off to case sensitive and he soldered some new caps on for me. Magically everything seems to be working great! I can't believe it, thought the card was a total write off. So thanks a ton to him.

    7970 physical damage. Fixable?

Well.I'm a little unsure as it was acting as my second card in a crossfire setup. Sometimes it wouldn't show up as plugged in, then if did almost any 3D game would crash it. If I plugged it in on its own it would almost never display anything unless my PC was on its side. Even then it would just...

    7970 physical damage. Fixable?

Haha, I posted this elsewhere and I've had multiple people say they're resistors (not that I'm doubting you). I looked at the solder we had here, and it's a giant thing, not really suitable for something so small. Did use it to solder a modchip into the original Xbox I think, but that thing was...

    7970 physical damage. Fixable?

OK cool. Initially the card would display for a time, then would crash if I was running any game in crossfire. Now it just doesn't output any signal whatsoever. It'd be good to get this fixed, it'd at least mean I could hold off on upgrading for a little while. If it's broken for good, I...

    7970 physical damage. Fixable?

Hmm, I need to look into this. Preferably I'd get the work done by someone in the UK, no idea who that'd be. I have a pretty steady hand, but then I've never done something so small as that either.

    7970 physical damage. Fixable?

Hi all, Long story short one of my 7970s got damaged in a move. Here it is. No video output any more. Is this card a wrote off or salvageable somehow? Thanks in advance.
