NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

That is a brilliant solution. :) How did you connect the standoffs? Did you just drill some holes and stuck some small screws in? How much room is there? Because this makes me lust after a SFX-L or fullsize ATX PSU. :P

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Nice one. It's good to see the Gainward is as short as I thought it would be. Might even convince me to go for an air cooled setup. :)

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Thanks for the answer. :) So the Corsair PSU would at least fit although the cables will be at a tight angle and an aftermarket cooler would be out of the question. We already figured out a while ago that most GTX 970 models have a very short PCB. The Zotac one you have there looks like it...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Very nice setup. I think I will be doing some reading up in the next couple of months to finally start building my Ncase. Which PSU is that though? I have my eye on the Corsair AX760i but at 180mm x 150mm x 86mm I am not entirely sure. It looks big. Combine it with the newer extra short...

Is the V3 PSU bracket also usable with V2 cases?

Bring Agile to the Whole Organization

Classic (project) management error. This is usually the main reason why a change project fails. Management trends are not necessarily all bullshit because they offer solutions to certain organizational challenges that come with changing times. Can you imagine not using e-mail, IM or online...

Bring Agile to the Whole Organization

Agile often fails because people without proper understanding try to implement an idea that has shown to offer incredible improvements in other places without understanding what they want to change first. And more importantly, how long it took the successful companies to properly implement it...

The next NCASE project: a Steam Machine-style case (indeterminate)

And as far as I can tell, watching Blu-rays on a computer is not a very straightforward undertaking.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

It's a good question. You could look for users of the Gainward 670 and see what they say. It's not uncommon for GPUs between different generations to have a similar PCB layout.

The next NCASE project: a Steam Machine-style case (indeterminate)

Agreed. The Netherlands is comparable with the New York metropolitan area in size and population and is roughly 2/3rd of NY's population density. You see similar speeds there. In fact you see a similar trend in any city. And with more than half the world population living in cities you can...

The next NCASE project: a Steam Machine-style case (indeterminate)

Depends on where you live. This is basic internet around here; (Granted, this is night-time speeds. On busy moments during the day it probably drops down to 30-40 Mb/s. But I do know that most internet abroad is sometimes painfully slow. I would love an optical disc on this case but a...

Elon Musk: With Artificial Intelligence, We Are Summoning The Demon

"inadvertent creation of a micro black hole[...]" Really? Didn't we go through this when the LHC was started. Even if we did manage to build a micro black hole it would pop out of existence soon enough.

The Official Post Pics Of Your Rig 2014 Thread!

18 Kg of 4mm aluminum plate worked open in strategic places, folded 15 times and anodized in two different colours. That alone makes it really expensive. Add to that the included custom sleeved cables and you have a quality case on your hand. I have a custom solid aluminum keyboard that costs...

    NCASE M1 v2 Build Thread

I wouldn't bother with 3,5" drives inside of the case either, especially seeing as space is at a premium and they probably will only add noise. At the moment I am looking at the viability of connecting an external enclosure just below the desk to keep the top clean with just a mouse, speakers...

Can't help you with that, but this might help you get going: Look up the sizes on the manufacturers websites and compare them to these. :) But why get a 290 if the GTX 970 is more energy efficient and because of that, quieter in the first place? Are you playing at a specific resolution?

    Asus ROG Maximus VII Impact

Where did the problem lie? Physical or did the mobo not recognize the drive as a boot device? And did you have the same trouble with the Samsung? It's pretty stupid that Asus only tested the board with PCIe x16 SSDs. The ones that are as large as a video card... That's old new tech.

This won't fit the Ncase @ 63.5 mm... but wow: Aqua Computer Airplex modularity system 240 mm EDIT: Apparently the newly revealed Airplex Radical 2 might be a better fit for our cases. @ L 280/284 x W 140 x H 40mm. Though we'll have to wait for the 240 models to be revealed.

    Asus ROG Maximus VII Impact

Not that I was ordering anything just yet but thanks. After your comment I checked the reviews again and found someone who tried it on the Asus Z97-A and had the same issue. No cheap M2 for now it seems. :( EDIT: After reading some more I was hoping it would function more like the MSI Z97...

That's not a problem. It's plenty fast. And for the price it's a really good deal for a compact case like the M1.

NCASE M1 picture and build general log

Notting has tried the Strix. It fits, but with some disclaimers. Because of the extra wide PCB he had to remove some parts of the case and it stills slightly bends the side panel. @Domp: Very nice build. Lovely colouring. :) Added it to my list of inspirational builds. ;)

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

And it's probably not just the Phantom. As far as I can tell every reference PCB GTX 970 has this extra cooling element screwed on in the back, meaning you can remove it and replace it with the water block. But someone else will have to confirm that one for me. I just yearn back to the old...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Thanks. Updated that part. :) For those looking for a short card GTX970: Translation: "With its 24 cm length, the Gainward Geforce GTX 970 Phantom is already relatively short for a card in its class. However, the high cooling system takes three slots and extends 6.5 cm from the PCB." (Source)...

NCASE M1 picture and build general log

First: the Strix will not fit without modifying the case. I think a very slow quiet fan is better than no fan, but we really cannot tell until Broadwell comes out. Who knows, maybe they do have something in the works. Same goes for the SFX500-L. It has not even been announced yet so it...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Yeah probably, I could only know for sure once I get my hands on it and shine some bright lights on there. It's a stupid idea anyway. Especially since with some care it might fit anyway. But just barely. Overview of GTX970 models (V) Gigabyte = 312/298mm x 129mm x 43mm (Might be tricky...
