The video's been shot from a mobile phone, hence the excessive brightness.
Did you use a hack to use Hue as Ambilight ? I remember reading somthing on that kind of hack.
Hi guys !
I thought I would share a video of a freshly installed Lightpack on my UM65 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ABH4Yruqk
Overall, it looks great, except for the white led color which is cold whereas my monitor is set on warm, and 2 more led strip would have been ideal to "fill" the...
Something similar has been reported on a french forum. Apparently, one of the flat cables was being pinched between two pieces of plastic... LG's quality control really needs to level up !
You're harsh on the man. He's just sharing his opinion. Don't forget you're on a public forum and if you don't wan't other people to react on your messages, you can address people by PM ;-)
I do share Xinmosni's opinion though, but maybe it's because I'm not a 100+ Hz user and am so used to 60Hz...
Just received mine, I'll be posting a few pictures this week-end.
My first impressions :
+bleed is contained ; some at the bottom (middle, and right corner)
+ glow similar to AOC's, but more homogeneous
+ no dead pixels :)
+ panel is faster than AOC, about 45ms difference ! AOC was in DP and...
Thank you :)
However, I made some more research and found out that the FOV would not vary between 3440*1440 and 2560*1080 only in games supporting HOR+ scaling (I understandd that it means the FOV is format dependent, and not resolution dependant). That may not be the case in older games.
Some...
At first, I thought your question was intended to be humouristic, but then I realised you were serious and started questioning myselft about the profound usefulness of my "tests". And then, skypine27's reply shed all doubts off my mind. There was at least one person who understood me... :D
As...
I was about to send the monitor back, then decided this week-end to conduct a few more tests to determine whether I would ask for a replacement, or simply get reimbursed.
To my great surprise, almost all dead pixels had disappeared !
Only two dead sub-pixels remained (top left and bottom...
Hi everyone. I live in France and I recently received mine (650). So I figured I would share some information with you guys ;)
First things first, unpacking :
All cables needed are provided : HDMI, DVI, VGA, DP and USB + power cord.
Then, I compared this...
I haven't noticed the difference for desktop use, but some people complain about eye fatigue et frequencies lower than 50Mhz. I guess it depends on how sensitive your eyes are.
Unfortunately, neither does. To my knowing, this hasn't been mentioned yet for the 34UC97...
LinusTechTips' review...
My pleasure :)
I edited my message above to add another link to more photos. I wrote a short review, comparing different screen resolutions to see the difference in FOV and sharpness. Hope this can help those who are hesitating between a 16:9 and a 21:9, or even between a native resolution of...

Hi guys ! For those interested, I posted a few pictures of the AOC on a french forum : http://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/HardwarePeripheriques/Ecran/lg-34um95-3440x1440-sujet_62912_36.htm#t786730
I'll translate all this on the dedicated topic on HF later ;)
Edit : more pics =>...
Apparently, 650€ il the launch price, the MSRP being 750€.
Based on "usual" conversion rates concerning hi-tech products, as mentioned by Reimu above, price in the US should be around $650
Hi everyone.
FYI, pre-ordering the AOC model is possible in France for 650€ ! http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00171255.html
Already pre-ordered mine :D Availability announced for "around the 20th of august". Can't wait !!
Some information about the price of the AOC monitor, which confirms estimations made above :
MSRP 750€ (~750$, yeah, currency convertion behaves weirdly when it comes to electronics), and a launch price of 650€.

Nice article, thanks :)
But what the hell with the prices in France ?! Only one vendor, Amazon, at a 1200 price tag : http://www.amazon.fr/LG-34UM95-Ecran-3440-1440/dp/B00HG7EB64
 Are they crazy or what ???!
I've been doing some reading about AA modes, and SMAA seems to be the AA to go for ; it blurs the edges it smoothens a little, but as far as I understand how it works, the blurry effect is reduced at higher resolutions. It might be THE solution if I want to use AA on the UM95 without taxing the...
I don't really get it about why hardware calibration is better, apart from "memorizing" the calibrated settings allowing the monitor to be used with different sources. Regarding my needs and use of a monitor, I don't take this function into account in my future choice, since the monitor is going...
Can't be sure about that. With PS4 and XB1 platforms being close to desktop PCs, this might "help" getting better looking (and hence more demanding) games on PCs, since developpers will only have to code one version of the game and not spend time providing a specific version of the game for us...
You're right, but since I do not specially plan to change my graphics cards before ~2 years, based on what has been observed before, I'm pretty sure my SLI won't be able to handle this screen's native resolution with AA in one year's time. That's mainly why I'm interested in this monitor's...
Thanks for your reply ;)
I have 2 x GTX 780, and I think thought they would provide enough horsepower for a while, but I'm the kind of person who cranks every graphics setting up before even playing the game, and if further games as demanding as watch dogs come to be released, the combo um95...
Hi everyone !
I've been following this thread for a while, and was wondering if any of those lucky ones who have grabbed a UM95 have tried gaming in a non-native resolution e.g. 2560*1080. If so, is the upscaling OK ? I mean, does the image look blurry ?
Thanks for the information ;)
