I guess it probably depends on what CPU you want to power and OC. You didn't mention it and i guest a lowered power variant.
But as kirbyrj said maybe looking into AM5 isn't a bad option, especially when you're looking for more powerful versions of AM4.
Probably something like this DSH3:

Have one with the better heatsinks (can't remember the exact name) and it does the job with an APU installed on it and PBO activated.
Intel's comments are like from someone who doesn't understand what their commenting on about but they feel that they have to say something to stay relevant...
I think they should focus more on innovation and bringing better products than commenting on their direct competitors.
Not that many of us would run into this issue this time around considering the steep entry price, but this could have consequences, for all OC users, on long term if this is implemented in cheaper products/ all.
Safeish... There are still stutters and low utilization areas on both CPU and GPU, but that depends on how sensitive you are to them and Domingo said it can depend on your hardware as well. In some cases it can be alienated with more powerful hardware, but that is not guaranteed to give you a...
Auch, sorry to hear that. Maybe EVGA can give you another model, FTW for instance.
At somepoint i'd also consider selling it and getting something else if you have the budget.
Indeed however the amount of watts being dissipated into the room as heat are more. (GTX 480 ~ 250W ) So if someone was sweating with a 480, he will definitely sweat more with a 4090, for instance, in the same room.
Also cases have come a long way since then and are better ventilated.
Custom air or WC was needed for them. Once you had that they were a pleasure to game on. Loved the first one so much, i went ahead and bought another one.
And while yes the GTX 480 was hot, i find it funny that now we're mostly ok with 350W++ monsters be it on the CPU or GPU side .
Have a related question here, EVGA was pretty relaxed regarding watercooling.
Is there any other company that lets you dismantle the cooler and slap on a watercooling block? Be it for Nvidia or AMD?
Hmm imagine EVGA having a piece of the pie in a 80% GPU market share of Nvidia. And then imagine them as a newcomer for AMD/ Intel in the remaining ~20% marketshare.
No matter how we dice it it's still going to be lower income by some order of magnitude.
Plus on how thinks are working out, it's...
Pretty good cards and unbelievable value for money. Remember that they prompted Nvidia to give out money back to the people.
Good times!
15 years.... damn...

Korean overclocker Safedisc, writing on Coolenjoy tech forums, stated that the company's entire 170-strong workforce in its Taiwan office involved in the motherboard business, have resigned, including KINGPIN.
Can't...
I liked EVGA as much as the next guy, but people seem to look at them with rose tinted glasses. They had lots of big fails on their own.
And yes while they had great CS in some cases the poor design couldn't be fixed with a good RMA. (see initial x79, initial 1080 FTW series, etc).
Every...
Disappointing. So we can all agree that all MSRP prices are basically x2 of what they should be. Except for the high end where you pay for the performance the rest of the lineups are snooze fests from both manufacturers.
He is. But not in the way that the mob wants to believe it.
Nvidia is just dictating the market for some time now and AMD (being a company looking for profits and not being anybody's friend) is very happy to play along and follow the upwards pricing.
From a business perspective it's...
Guessing he means Alder and Raptor Lake, where both go on the same 1700 socket.
Historically he is right. Kinda hope with all this competition with AMD for another generation on the 1700 socket, however i wouldn't get my hopes up.
Seems like a knee jerk reaction from Steam's non existing Support.
With this move i can understand where a post of mine went about a visual downgrade to a certain game, because i couldn't find it a day later. HA.
Remember kids vote with your wallet.
Techpowerup recently did an investigation into this: here .
Long story short, a decrease of 2% is what you're looking at for this scenario. So post #2 is correct :p
Enjoy the 4090!
Agree on Watercools quality. What really let's them down in capturing more market share is that they are later to most hardware launches and as said not enough variety for GPUs especially.
Heck once i got my 3080TI FTW was waiting on them to launch their block. At some point i contacted...
Reviewers have a hard time keeping temps in check 13900k/ks with 360 AIOs. Unless you're willing to reduce the voltage and clocks on your CPU, you'll be throttling the CPU pretty hard on air.
I'd look at der8auers video where he plays around, finding the efficiency of the 13900K to have an idea...
IPC isn't that different from 12th to 13th gen, however 13th gen seem to be more happy about higher clocks, at least when it comes to stock behavior. Individual golden chips do not apply :) . However this does increase consumption. Win some lose some.
Personally i wouldn't do it, but if you...
^Would this statement be true even for bottom mounted rads? Have an Enthoo Primo that is a bit closed off and wondering if this setup would help me as well.
Think on my x299 it had a max of 3-5 pages of bios settings, so if it's still the same you're better of looking at some online OC tutorials on Youtube.
But considering that most hardware is maxed out and at most you have to change 3,4 settings for 24/7 OC. Not tacking into consideration LN2 and...
IMO, the MSI bios is cleaner, easier to use for most users.
The ASUS bios has a tons of settings that for most users don't matter. However my main gripe with the Asus bios is that i find myself backtracking a lot to find specific settings after a few months of not using it. Where as when i was...
If your girlfriend is technically inclined she could reseat the CPU, take some attention on the CPU heatsink, how much pressure being applied.
Only one memory dim would work as a troubleshooting step as well. It could be that one of the slots has some sort of issue.
If not, the route with the...
This ^. Almost every newer processor will give you better results.
Funily enough I upgraded my [email protected] and mobo to a [email protected] after jumping from a 1080 to a 1080 TI because i was getting the same results in the games I was playing at the time.
However the 7820x was stuttering massively in...
The easiest one IMO would be to either let the Asus mobo OC it (but it will pump a lot of unnecessary voltage into the CPU => raising your temps) or going into Intel Extreme utility and just changing the multiplier settings. On my CPU I can go with 53x for 4 cores and 50x for 8 cores. Voltage...
I agree with you, it is a sorry state as it is. However taking into consideration the prices that these AIB's are charging for their custom designs and also the fact that even OCing is yealding, in most cases, academic results, things are very expensive with very little to show for it. The fact...
Evidently tacking the numbers with a grain of salt, but yeah as you point out those ECO vs normal numbers really paint an interesting image. From my point of view for the standard user would be satisfied with the ECO numbers in most applications. Also guessing that OC will be a pain for most...
Probably the most level headed article up until now regarding this topic.
Kinda sad to see them go, mostly due to their lenience in warranties regarding water cooling. However they have made a few mistakes in almost each generation of cards since Maxwell that may have lead them here. Besides...
Arctic is good. For the prices you're posting here it's the clear winner.
At some point used MX2 and 4 back to back. Both were good but i kinda liked the 2 more just because it was more easy to spread (5 is somewhere in between them on ease of spread). If that's not an issue for you go with the...
Asus has a Strix for the 6900XT with all the bells and whistles :) .
For the limits you need to look on AMD for this one. They are the ones locking up their cards. der8auer is touching on this subject a bit in this video (can't remember the time exactly, sorry)
I'd attribute the lack of...
