I went ahead a purchased a colorimeter, the i1 Display Pro based on your recommendation. Thanks! I'm so glad I did. Colors look much better after calibration, and I can also calibrate the displays of my laptops as well. Now I'm on a calibration craze haha..it's too bad we can't calibrate any of...
The unit I received yesterday has no buzzing whatsoever. I'm very sensitive to sound (as that is my primary profession), and regardless of what brightness setting I have the display set to, there's no detectable/audible sound emanating from it.
Chiming in to say my OCZ Agility 2 is still going strong for 3 years now. So far it's been running 22,673 hrs, with 217 power-on counts, read 28,736 GB and written 8320 GB. That being said, I think I'm going to swoop in and grab Samsung 840 Pro at these low prices just in case..

Now that I've received this display, I've never seen more stuck sub-pixels in a monitor in my entire life...I've lost count, but there are definitely more than 50 stuck...
I really love this monitor. It's still going strong even after nearly 7 years of constant use!
However....I'm wondering if anyone is using this with windows 8.1. The fonts look completely blurry regardless of what font settings I use. I understand that 8.1 changed font grayscale anti-aliasing...
