Backup software that lets me use HDDs like disks?

That's interesting, I was unaware of that. I might consider that in the future, but it's mostly hd video which comes in 10s of GB at a time, it still wouldn't quite work out.

Backup software that lets me use HDDs like disks?

1.5TB to 3TB are not going to backup to an offsite location without a serious investment in bandwidth.

Backup software that lets me use HDDs like disks?

I'm fine with the solution as I haven't seen anything that comes anywhere near it price wise. I have a duplicate of 1.5TB of data stored off site for fire safety, and if one of the backup disks dies I just replace it. The likelyhood of the server and the backup drives dying at the same time is...

Backup software that lets me use HDDs like disks?

It's for a friend's small business, and it's a hell of a lot better than nothing. Tape drives for this much data cost thousands of dollars, so don't go judging. It's an excellent solution for the situation.

Backup software that lets me use HDDs like disks?

1.5TB is just the current size of the array and will be growing soon, with a max size of 3.5TB. When I bought the 500GB disks the 3 of them cost the same as a 1TB disk at the time, so I guess to answer your question price is the major concern. The next drive I purchase for the backup group...

Backup software that lets me use HDDs like disks?

I'm trying to create a cheap offsite backup solution for 1.5TB of data. Currently I'm copying folders by hand to 3 500GB harddrives. Is there a backup program that will automate that for me? Tell me to pop in a new hotswappable SATA drive when the one it's using is full?

    Solid Gold Porsche

HOLY CRAP! According to the EnglishRussia page they used over 40 lbs of gold. According to www.goldprice.org gold is US$925 an oz. That's almost $600,000 in gold alone. W T F

Can I add a folder to the Vista Start Menu

Actually it makes a huge difference when dealing with backup software as in some scenarios I want to backup pictures and not videos, and I never want to backup downloads but of course I want everything else in my Documents. Plus Downloads are not documents, and videos are not pictures, having...

Can I run integrated graphics AND a Discrete card?

Well I called Asus about it yesterday. The sudo-knowledgeable tech indicated that there is no way to know whether the system will allow you to run a discrete card at the same time as the integrated graphics (even though their bios indicates you can and nothing in the manual states you can't)...

Can I run integrated graphics AND a Discrete card?

You misunderstood. I don't want to combine my card + igp into some freakish hybrid crossfire setup. I want them running separately and independently at the same time. I had hoped to use the igp to power 1 monitor while the card powers a 2nd monitor and a tv. I guess I'll have to call...

Can I run integrated graphics AND a Discrete card?

I don't understand why they would do this. I mean I'm paying to have the onboard graphics card, why would they even put a 16x slot on their if it removes the use of the onboard card, I mean I should pay to have both if I can't use em. :/ I'm kinda bummed if this is true, not really sure what...

Can I run integrated graphics AND a Discrete card?

My graphics cards would be blocked if I used the PCI slot for an additional card, which only leaves the PCIe-1x slot, which is being used by my tv tuner...... So that's not really an option with this board. Anyone have this board that's tried to do what I am? My 8800gt is supposed to run...

Can I run integrated graphics AND a Discrete card?

I have an ASUS p5e-vm hdmi and an 8800GT. I want to run 2 monitors off of the 8800GT and 1 off the integrated graphics, but I can't seem to get windows or the bios to see both at the same time, it's 1 or the other. Is this a flaw with my board, with the design of my board, or not possible...

C2Q mobo for overclock w/onboard video?

I want to grab a Q6600, it just seems like the most incredible value from everything I've heard. My problem comes with the video cards. I need to use 3 displays at once (2 monitors and an sd tv, eventually hd) and the last time I tried this with a single video card it didn't work. I don't...

    How do I backup a 2TB raid?

"We keep two types of files on our Server. The finished, archived files. These files are the timelines and the media that accompany it allowing us to manipulate the final copies of our work. The other type is the raw material that is not backed up on tape. Five months ago we started shooting...

    How do I backup a 2TB raid?

Well any sort of tape solution is going to run a couple grand from what little research I've done. With the 500GB drives he's only paying $0.21 per GB, even deeply discounted the 750gb drives are around $0.23 and 1TB drives are like $0.26, so I think a 500GB drive is the sweet spot, though...

    How do I backup a 2TB raid?

So my friend has a 2TB raid with a lot of video editing related content and I want him to back that up onto something offline that he can store elsewhere (for fire safety and such). The best idea I have would be to grab an eSATA enclosure and 5x500GB drives then use them like large floppy...

Weird upload speeds on comcast, any idea why?

Weird upload speeds on comcast, any idea why?

So I have comcast residential cable internet. When I do a speedtest it says my upload is 1516kbps which should translate into around a 150KBps upload, which would be awesome. The problem is that my sustained upload speed seems to be a lot closer to 40KBps. When I upload something with FTP, it...

Will virtualization let me run 2 OSs at once on a computer?

It does have a gui as it is a full os, but it's heavily discouraged for you to use it. All interaction with it is supposed to be through the client-side app.

Will virtualization let me run 2 OSs at once on a computer?

Does Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 fit in here anywhere? I was thinking I'd get a dual or quad core system for this, will I be able to get reasonable performance out of this for say 1k or 1.5k ? Any more details about the hypervisor scenario?

Will virtualization let me run 2 OSs at once on a computer?

I believe Parrallels is for application virtualization, where it allows you to run a virtual windows os from within os x. It's for running windows programs while you are still in OS X. I want to run 2 servers (or a server and a media center) on the same machine, where I can have my server...

Will virtualization let me run 2 OSs at once on a computer?

Forgive the ignorant throwing around of a hot buzzword...... But is it possible to run 2 separate operating systems, at the same time? I've seen bits and pieces about this coming up, but is it here and what I think it is? For example could I build a computer and run say windows home...

Can I add a folder to the Vista Start Menu

Top right section of the start menu that has Documents and Pictures and such. I REALLY want to add Videos and Downloads to them as I access both of those folders a ton. Is there any way to add it there? I could do the shortcut in the top left but I really want it in with the other special...

Can I kill a hd by tilting my computer?

So I rebooted after adding a new hd with vista that I just setup this weekend, to the pc, and tried to copy the files, but the bios wasn't even recognizing the drive. So I removed it from the pc, plugged it into a different SATA power connector and a different SATA connector on a different...

Can I kill a hd by tilting my computer?

It's the drive. I've heard the noise before (not on this drive). Everything is seated well in the case (and it wasn't covered so that was easy to check). I'm certain it's covered under warranty, just a little bummed as that sure doesn't seem durable. I didn't really move it roughly.... but...

Can I kill a hd by tilting my computer?

Ok, This sounds kind of stupid but here is what happened. I have a sff case. The harddrive is placed left to right under the cd drive parallel to the bottom of the case (i hope that's clear). While my computer was on, not doing anything in particular that I can recall, I lifted up the front...
