Here's my advice: put your trash can on top of the box AFTER it's been emptied of the amazing monitor that is the Samsung Odyssey G7!
I've had my 27 inch for a few days and I am VERY pleased with it. Must have got lucky because I have NO backlight bleed, whereas every other VA or IPS I had...
YES! Quick start+ almost made me claim a malfunction on my b6 panel because green vertical lines were appaering everywhere on the screen. Ever since I turned off Quick start + I never got this error again, and the tv starts up just as fast.
This legendary CRT Monitor needs no introduction on this forum.
It's in perfect working order with great colors, brightness, contrast and that sought-after perfect motion resolution.
Here is a video I just made to show the Monitor in perfect working condition:

I've been getting the same results with the icy box, 2304x1440 at 79hz is stable, while 80hz has random mirroring effect.
Found 1600x1000 at 96hz to provide very good sharpness and performance but will try more resolutions. So far very impressed with the display in competitive online shooter...
So I got the Icy Box SPL1031 today but I didn't know it only takes input from minidp source (only minidp to minidp cable in the box) so now I need to get an adapter for that to use it with my 1080ti that has dp and hdmi outputs?
edit: ordered minidp to dp cable, should get it tomorrow.
A little update on my situation, I plugged in my FW900 and it runs fantastic, the guy who previously had it before me did a great job in color calibration as well, I can see he finely tuned the settings under the color menu for 6500k. Now I went and bought this...
Thanks for the info, I've looked for the Sunix DPU3000 but can't find it in the european area. Would the "YIWENTEC DVI VGA Adapter, Active DVI-D 24+1 to VGA Link Video Adapter Cable Converter" which is available in my country be sufficent to perform at a decent resolution?
I have a question, I have a 1080ti with 3 dp, 2 hdmi and 1 dvi-d outputs. I already have a VGA cable; which adapter should I choose out of the three to use with the fw900 to get maximum resolution and refresh rate?
Hahaha ok, you know what, I think it's time to make space for a third display in my bedroom: My lg 55 inch oled, 24 inch dell s2417dg and a soon to be resurrected Sony fw900!
Btw the story is that I had sold the fw900 many years ago to a colorist that was traveling. When he moved back to the US...
I just realized I have a Sony FW900 hidden away under my staircase from many years ago XD
My main pc gaming display is a Dell s2417dg 165hz tn lcd. I am tempted to take the 2 ton beast into my bedroom but I am worried about the risk of radiation.
How safe are these built? Could it have broken...
Just bought a FW900 here in Italy! I'm excited and a bit scared of I will end up with once I pick it up this weekend, but at least I finally managed to find one over here. Once I get it I'll have to look this thread up to fine tune it ^^
Been through it myself, tried to take off the ag from my Eizo fg2421 using the wet cloths technique and wasn't successful since apparently the glue that was used is not water soluble.
Although admittedly the ag is semi glossy and not that bad on this monitor, still I would prefer to be 100%...
This thread will help you better to find a true 120hz TV for gaming: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1766384
A VT50 running true 120hz sounds very tempting :)
Well I recently bought a W705b and thought that looked nice and bright but overall PQ lower than my Eizo fg2421 when taking into account the horrible motion resolution of the set. It's terrible interpolation method paled in front of the Turbo 240hz mode of the Eizo which is a strobed 120hz...
That's untrue. The amount of horsepower required to run games maxed at 4k makes it too expensive for the general user and there is no 4k video material out to make use of, except for the few videos on youtube and around the web.
I'd pick a 1080p oled over a 4k oled any day, unless the 4k...
Nice work! Looks really good. I successfully did that with my Qnix qx2710, and tried to do that even with my Eizo fg2421. On the Eizo I left the towels on for 6 hours but the ag didn't peel at all after that period of time. Would going for 10 hours make a difference? Might give it another try.
Good news indeed. The more major TV manufacturers get into the OLED market the better. I for one can't wait until OLED becomes mainstream and possibly (a dream) replaces the LCD market completely.
If you're lucky and you get a good one like I've gotten on my second try, the Eizo fg2421 has better overall PQ than any other LCD I've seen on a monitor or TV. I've seen IPSs, other VAs and some TN panels and I could not go back to any of those because of the tradeoffs. FG2421 has better...
Don't know how much it costs now in your parts, but the Eizo fg2421 which I use right now is great for watching movies. I bought it for 460; amazing contrast for an LCD, extremely blur free in 240hz mode and great colors once calibrated.
Otherwise, get a used Panasonic Plasma TV... might find...
This x100. If this monitor turns up to be glossy (or at least have an option to be glossy) I will buy it right off the bat. Otherwise I'll probably just stick to my Eizo FG2421 and wait for an OLED option... in the far off future.
I totally get your point, my first Eizo fg2421 had a lot of backlight bleed, random restarts and strong color uniformity issues. I seriously considered just getting a refund and not going for the panel anymore. I did in fact get a refund and bought the second one from another source. The...
After calibration (at least on my panel) the green tint on the edges became MUCH less apparent in the situations in which it showed up, mostly in grayish dark scenes. Now it is a non-issue and after siding it up to other monitors and new VA TVs I have to say that the biggest winning point of...
I completely agree, especially at the "and which game arent you moving around a lot" part. I can't stand motion blur for first person, Rts, pretty much any type of game because of that simple concept. Pretty much every game you play is going to have a lot of fast and constant motion, unless...
Had one of those and they are great, however now it's much harder to find the older versions (which were better than the new AH VA ones) and I don't want to import from Korea as that will cost him a very large percentage in customs over here in Italy.
A friend of mine is asking me for advice on a new 27 inch monitor to mostly play WoW and other RTS games on.
I was thinking of recommending him something along the lines of an IPS with less blur as possible, I don't think 3D is vital to him but I imagine it would be an added bonus.
His...
Haha, you're probably right. I remember always seeing myself slightly on my gateway p7805u when the screen turned completely black and being like... oh! Hello handsome :D
I wish I could even take off the ag coating on my fg2421 monitor, but I found out the coating they used on the ag is not...
I tried going back to a regular non strobed 60hz va panel and it was simply unbearable to me... the motion blur was just too much to handle.
For fps games and third person games it was extremely noticeable as there is motion going on 99% of the time.
For movies it was fine but once you go...
I agree. It is hard to explain but a glossy, shiny looking display does give a sense of greater sharpness and contrast to the image. Of course if a huge amount of light is being reflected the opposite is true, but in normal lighting conditions it is pleasant to me.
It's not horrible, although I have personally gotten used to turbo 240hz and I think I will have to go with a Panasonic Plasma for my next blur free experience.
I just checked my manufacturing date and it's 11/2014 as well. Heh, I would send you my unit since it's perfect except for the motion blur which is giving me a headache ^^
