NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

And for those of us in Australia, the RTX 2080 Ti offers an average of 31% performance improvement over the 1080 Ti (according to Hardware Unboxed) for a 100% price difference.... meh, this ray tracing stuff better be good and widely supported

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

It's one of the smallest open air 1080tis and fits very easily with plenty of room around it to work with cables and air flow/ducting etc. I changed to the EVGA because it was much smaller than my older Strix card which seemed to trap air and actually be louder than the EVGA. Bigger cards can be...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I think that's the same one I have. I use it inside the bottom of the case rather than outside. I figure it would be less restrictive to the already small height of the feet and fits perfectly.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Another Dark Rock TF build, by far the quietest and coolest setup I've had Next on the list is attacking that SX600G fan somehow https://imgur.com/a/81xfN

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

It really is dependant on your motherboard. I also have the Dark Rock TF on a different Gigabyte board and it fits great with the fan bracket with either a 120mm fan or HDD cage. The 135mm fan sits about 6-7mm back from the side bracket so I wrapped some adhesive black foam around it to duct to...

That looks fantastic! Makes the case look so big and empty

    NCASE M1 and RGB Lightning

The Strix GPUs have their own little built in RGB party shaped to your parts if you're into that sort of thing. Though, the best part is you can turn it off when it inevitably becomes annoying :)

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The one on the left is my old build, there was plenty of room to fit 2x 3.5" drives and a 120mm rad with an R9 290. I still have basically the same setup but with a 1070 Strix OC now which takes up pretty much every little bit of space down there. The drive cage still fits just fine along with...

    That is one beastly GPU!

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Sounds like a nice build. Yes many people mount their CPU + cooler + RAM to the motherboard first > mount motherboard > PSU > PSU cables > GPU I have routed a bunch of cables behind the front panel (GPU, SATA mostly) it's a great place to hide them

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Wow that is stunning coolarj10. It will be a shame to put a standard side panel back on

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Yes I recall Phuncz testing and reporting good results, perhaps a couple of years ago. It's likely the same foam you described, I had a roll approx 2cm wide lying around and thought I'd try the concept. I used two strips stuck together to make it wider and stuck it around both sides of the GPU...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I have a 1070 Strix OC with no bottom fans. I just got the GPU and still experimenting, but I made some makeshift ducting for the GPU intake out of self- adhesive foam strips. It ducts fresh air from the bottom and separates the heat sink exhaust into the top of the case to stop it sucking hot...

Debating on building a SFF for home and travel. Advice?

I was in the same boat as you and got some great responses on air travelling PCs here http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1790910 SG05 still seems to be the smallest and lightest to fit a full length GPU, but depending on how much storage you need, would have required me to also carry a...

    Help needed for SFF build

Hi Brutality, I am by no means an expert, but can share my experience as I was in the same boat as you and got some fantastic advice from this forum. I was laptop gaming for over 10 years due to regular travel, upgrading every couple of years. It's an expensive and underwhelming...

    Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5

This board has been great for the 2.5 months I've had it. I saw a handful of bad reviews too but couldn't reproduce anything. It posted first time with a 4690K even with the earliest firmware and detects all my RAM and XMP profiles just fine. Audio is great, I mostly use speakers as the PC...

Advice on SFF gaming build that's suitable for carry-on luggage

FYI for anyone thinking of air travelling a water cooled M1, security didn't batt an eyelid when I said I have a PC in my backpack, I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought. I asked if they want me to take it out of the bag like you have to do with laptops, they said no don't worry about it. I...

    Silverstone SST-SX600-G 600w Gold SFX

I haven't had the chance to do much with my M1 since building it, but the fan on my SX600-G barely comes on. So far I've only tested a short 10min BF4 session + leaving the PC running all day downloading so not much of a test really. My fan is mounted towards inside the case so it should be warm...

Advice on SFF gaming build that's suitable for carry-on luggage

It's just Australian domestic which is pretty laid back compared to international or US. User Showbiz reported back on page 1 that he takes his water cooled build all over the world year round. Will find out tomorrow I guess!

Advice on SFF gaming build that's suitable for carry-on luggage

 How much witchcraft did you guys fit into this case? I had no idea that was a thing, thanks! Cheers :) yes in a couple of days it will be traveling in bubble wrap in a backpack... not ideal!

Advice on SFF gaming build that's suitable for carry-on luggage

Thanks mate. It fits well on its side with the radiator pipes to the back of the case. Was a bit concerned that the manual said to install it with the pipes at the bottom for best results but it's too high and hits the power cable. I saw a few other builds with sideways radiators and figured...

Advice on SFF gaming build that's suitable for carry-on luggage

Yeah I only saw them when I turned some lights out :D lucky they can be disabled in the bios so it won't look like my CPU is slowly frying itself through the motherboard while watching a movie

    Silverstone SST-SX600-G 600w Gold SFX

I have a really basic question.... I want to make sure I've plugged my GPU in to the SX600-G correctly before I run any 3D/demanding apps. The PCI-E cable with the blue connector at the PSU is plugged into the 8 pin socket on the GPU, and I remember reading somewhere that the 6 pin connector...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Cheers :) I was advised this is the best way to face the fan for my setup, but I am new to this so all advice welcome... do I understand this right: the H60 is intake so the PSU sucks hot air out if the fan is inside? And GPU is blower/exhaust

Likewise. AIO is cheap and easy for beginners. And since I have to fly with it, the last thing I need at security is a bunch of tubing that looks home made, as it would if I built it :p

    Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5

Actually, I just looked and mine had F1 too. Just updated to F3. So far can't fault this board and the Wifi is great xp3nd4bl3 - aside from GPU our systems are spookily similar!

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Nice build mate! I now have exactly the same appreciation for the M1 as you wrote about since I realised just how well thought out it really is. As I was fitting some parts I was thinking "I really wish there was another set of mounting holes just slightly over this way..... oh wait, there is!"

    Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5

I didn't have any trouble with a Devil's Canyon CPU or not detecting RAM slot 2 like some users reported on NewEgg. It fired up first time no problems. I guess it was an early firmware or batch issue

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

It's alive! The fan on the SX600-G didn't turn on until about 10 minutes of idling (with my fireplace cranking) and I could barely hear anything when I put my ear next to it with no panels on. All I can really hear is the H60 or 290 idling away... not really a good test with no OS at this stage...

Thanks for the link :) Awesome, I will look into that in the next couple of weeks. I...

hehehe just managed to start ahead of you :P I'm sure you'll be done before me though, I have a ton of work I should be doing instead of this. But I just wanted to check... does everything look okay before I go on too far? I installed the PSU with fan to inside as advised, so I assume the H60...
