I got rid of precision X and the problems went away. Using afterburner, I can do about +50 on clock and +600 on memory with no voltage control(its greyed out).
Not to hijack a thread but I just got my classy yesterday and played around with precision X. Just following the simple advice on here, I couldn't even get my card to even do a minimal OC without eventually seeing black screens or the driver error. The temps dont even get that high. Oh yeah...
That brings up another interesting issue too. I'm quite interested in a non ref 290 but who knows how long I'd have to wait. I doubt seeing non refs by the new year--let alone 3 weeks from now. I suspect Murphy will stick it to me regardless.
Looking on ebay, it looks like a ton of those...
I know its speculative at this point but I am really caught between snagging a Lightning (or maybe a Ti if I can talk myself into it) before the 26th (for the bundle) or waiting on a potential deal on black friday/cyber monday weekend. Since i have never been in the market for any computer...
Well knowing the 290x was coming out, I opted to wait for video on my current build and pulled my old EVGA 7800 GTX out of my old gaming rig from 2005!
Im using a 7800 GTX (yeah thats two zeros) till this damn 290x comes out. Don't laugh though, that 8 year old card will still play most games on at least low settings(my laptops gpu is better lol). I seriously considering going with a 780 very soon, though, with all of the apparent delay.
Well my 2nd Newegg motherboard RMA in 3 weeks arrived in Whittier this morning and was approved within the last few hours. No horror stories to report today. However, I video recorded the entire process of removing the mobo from my case (along with detailed video of the CPU removal and close...
It's being RMAed to newegg. I'm going to video the whole repack. I had no problems with the first motherboard RMA about 3 weeks ago. Newegg took it no problem and immediately next day'ed this current one.
It isn't OC'ed currently
Updated bios - no effect
Windows repair/windows restore/acronis image (even different restore points) - didnt work
Reinstalled Win 7 (genuine OEM) - didn't work
There's a dozen wireless I can see in my neighborhood on all my other devices. I had excellent...
The onboard wifi was working the night before with no issues. Booted up when i got home and there are no connections listed. I uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers but that has no effect. I even restored the system drive with acronis to a week before. I tried clearing cmos and...
My 4930k OC'ed pretty easy to 4.5 @ 1.35v on a x79 deluxe and scored 16000+ on passmark with temps slightly north of 70C. I got it to OC to 4.6 via AIsuite @1.4V but not comfortable with 80C+ temps not to mention the occasional BSODs. The only problem I have experienced is the ram will not OC...
Well I RMAed both last Friday and Newegg issued a refund. I kindda lucked out because they don't normally issue refunds but direct replacements. They were temportarily backordered apparently. Instead of going with the p9x79 WS again, I decided to go x79 deluxe instead. I don't have to flash...
Well that is good to know! You didn't jack my thread as it was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for, outside of a direct fix. Mine seemed to flash correctly with the light flashing at first then faster upon completion. I suspected all along the bios had everything to do with it but...
hmm that is quite interesting. I only saw the 00 code upon clearing cmos but it wouldnt even do that on subsequent power ups. Fortunately I shipped both back to newegg yesterday.
So what is yours doing? I would assume the pro has the exact same cpu led light as well as the code led. If so, did yours show an error code or have an error beep code? Mine did none of this hence the support tech concluding the board was screwed. Also, did you use the usb flashback to flash...
Bought the mobo and cpu from newegg. I seriously doubt the cpu was the problem but I dont have the luxury of another 2011 to test it. I spent several hours with 3 differnt Asus support reps. 2 told me the cpu was bad and the other concluded the mobo was ferked since it wouldnt show error...
So I flashed the bios and got everything installed but the diag cpu light lights up on power up. The bios flash seemed to work as it was supposed to. The fans come on but nothing else seems to do much. I'm not really sure what to do.... Is it a bad cpu or am I just not doing something correctly?
Yeah I knew the benchmarks weren't gonna sell it for me already seeing the how well a3930k did up against a 4960x. I saw the sale on the egg which prompted my whole dilemma in the first place. Microcenter had these for 499 a few weeks ago but no longer have them in stock...or perhaps I would...
I'm trying to avoid buyer's remorse with going with one over the other. It seems the 4930k, from what I gather, is a minimal increase in performance over the 3930k(hell even compared to the 4960x). I understand the 4930k hasn't been officially released yet (a couple days?), and no real world...
well I had planned on a 3930k but will wait around to see what the 4930k has to offer. Im going just 1 780 right now but I want the capacity to go SLI in the future. I understand I can get away with 700ish watts but as an electronic technician myself, I will always opt for plenty of rail...
I suppose I'd prefer one as well as I have always owned cable spagetti PSUs. However, I don't care so much what the inside looks like and only have to deal with the cable wad once outside of potential future mods. Knowing that seasonics are highly regarded, my question's underlying theme was...
Outside of a relative higher cost to 1866 or 2133, is there any reason to not go with something like G.SKILL Trident X Series or Ripjaw Z 2400 on a ASUS P9X79 WS? I was going to go with 1866 but an acquaintance suggested that I go with the fastest I could get. I'm not all that familiar with...
I need some help deciding on a power supply. I love the price of PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 950W after rebate $110 vs. Seasonic SS-1050XM ATX 1050 at $160. The PCP&C has a 7 year vs the Seasonic's 5 year warranty. I know the PCP&C isn't modular (which sucks I know) but I already have...
This isn't necessarily to do with video cards but since I figure several people may have GTX780s, this would be the best place to ask. I was thinking of getting a Asus p9x79-ws and a Noctua NH-D14 for cooler with a GTX780. My concern is the clearance between the noctua and video card on that...
