Machinist; makes perfect sense! I was thinking how awesome it would be to have access to materials and equipment that people use to actually make those parts! Really admire everything you are doing; keep it up man, loving this thread.
Holy BEAST. You sir, are a bad ass! If you don't mind me asking... How much do you think this build will cost you? And the next logical question is: what do you do for a living?
Hey man could you take a picture or tell me if you take a flashlight and put it behind one of the key caps, will the laser etching become more apparent (highlighted)? Thank man!
My one suggestion coming from the above posted list of components would be to go with a 256GB SSD. You will see the price drop for some of them ~ $150.00. 120 GB is fine for a main drive; but if you don't have a backup disk / somewhere to store data you will find yourself looking for space...
Hey man... It's not just Geek Squad. It's Best Buy. I was going to CC a few years ago with a girl that worked at Best Buy, we were on the same team for a Engineering course. The team had a shared Drop Box that was linked to our personal accounts, she ended up posting an entire set of nudies to...
Yeah. BUT Pakistan leads the world in Gay Porn searches... Even though Pakistan is a pretty strictly Muslim; Homosexuality being punishable by up to 10 years in Pakistan... They've got us beat there boys.
'Murica!
I have the 450W Rosewill Capstone (80+ Gold) Modular. It's been working steady for a year now, and it comes with a 5 Year Warranty. I can't speak of anything outside of their Capstone series though.
Thanks for the suggestions; I don't think I will be putting too much time into games (maybe Civ5 or KSP when I'm bored and away from my PC). But I'm still worried about how MATLAB will handle... Just got my student status verified just trying to gather the $99.00 for the software!
Aye, if you are serious about getting as much out of the card as you can. Invest in a waterblock and get a liquid cooling solution in your machine. Or you can live in a freezer (watch out for condensation). Now if you just want to bring the temperature down, download EVGA Precision GPU tweek...
I just got word that WASD V2 Code might be dropping sometime next week. V2 Code will only be available with Cherry MX Clear switches.... Good news for me, bad news if you don't like Clears.
Aye but that's what CHANG3D was looking for. For 47W TDP (CPU+GPU) the battery life should be good. Still to this date, not many Haswell mobile releases... No "mainstream" Iris Pro laptops are out yet...
EDIT:
I forgot to add how much of a bummer not being able to get an Iris Pro laptop; I was...
Well, the A8 series runs at either 35W or 45W TDP.
Intel's mobile Haswell processors are running from 15W, 28W, 37W, and 47W. So you can definitely save battery life by opting for the 15W processor, but some of the processor's box prices are as much as some A8 built laptops. The i7-4650U (the...
If you are comfortable with the Linux OS, this is an EXTREMELY good choice:
CPU: Intel i7-4750HQ
GPU: Intel HD 5200 (Iris Pro) GT3e Graphics
RAM: 2x8GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
SSD: 256GB Samsung 840 Pro
Display: 14.1" 1080p IPS Display
Get this... at only $1373.00!!!! All in a thin & light form...
I'm getting kinda impatient and I have dropped the backlighting requirement. I know WASD has MX Clear switches, but on their website it says it is still in pre-order. I WANT ONE NOW!
Anyone know of some keyboards that have MX Clear switches that are currently available for purchase in the...
I have a strong PC (3770k/GTX770/16GBram/SSDraid array) that I'll use at home for more complex programs/sequences and 3D programs. I jumped on the Office 365 subscription for 4 years; one license on my PC one on my MBA.
Other than MATLAB; MS Suite will be the main set of programs I use. Don't...
Recently I purchased a MacBook Air - Q2 2013 Version. This was, personally, my first MacBook. I've played around with MacBooks before but I finally pulled the trigger for myself. I own multiple PCs and laptops that run W7/W8/Ubuntu/XP and so on. So my background with the MAC OSX is very limited...
Sweet, I am a huge fan of the simplistic layout, would love to get my paws on that if this is true!
Edit: Can't believe I missed that bit towards the bottom, jumped to products after reading two sentences >,< thanks for the help.
The WASD V2 is what got me thinking about the clears, I didn't think clear switches were available until I saw that model. It does not come (stock) with backlighting right?
I've been looking for a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Clear switches and individual LED backlighting (preferably white backlighting). I can't find it anywhere; price is flexible. Any clues where to find one?
Thank you,
Bosebeer
Max Keyboard Nighthawk X series (comes in Cherry MX Red, Blue, or Brown) with a wide variety of backlighting available. You can even customize the individual backlighting if you so wish.
Me too, I feel your nervousness. But there would be 1 expansion slot in between them, so ~0.75" in between them. That's plenty of space if you have decent airflow; and they'll run hot, but that's what GPUs do, unless like you said, you got a boss custom loop running on them.
Really enjoyed this building in this case, this thread helped me finalize my decision to purchase an SG09, thought I would thank you by posting some pictures of the build! I would like to mention this was my first SFF build. I did run into some difficulties using an H60i with the SG09... There...
>SFF
>Prodigy
The prodigy is 36.25 liters... Far from SFF for ITX, and still far from SFF even for mATX....
The Prodigy is $80+, and a good ITX board is going to be $150+. Get an µATX board and a nice case, if you want portability I would go NZXT Vulcan (30 liters). (No idea when the...
Maybe you didn't understand... It's a mid-tower ATX case geared at a µATX motherboard. Obviously it won't fit an ATX board if it's a µATX case lol. What do I mean by that? Again, let's look at the numbers of some Mid-Towers and some µATX Towers:
µATX Cases:
Corsair 350D = 41.5 L...
I love this chassis! ( http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=419&area=en ). It's tiny: 1.3 Liters! I would recommend a quality 256 GB SSD and an i5. Obviously that case will need an external DC power supply and a board that supports it, but if you want a SFF that's the way to go.
Regards
Just for a numbers comparison... The TJ08 comes in at 30 Liters. The 350D comes in at a whopping 41.5 Liters. The SG09 is 23 Liters. To wrap it up.. The 350D is a Mid Tower ATX case that can only fit a µATX board.
The SG09 doesn't necessarily need a modular PSU, but the wiring looks horrifying with out it. My PSU is a Corsair CX600. I actually have a NZXT Vulcan system; and I love the case, seems a little bulky for 30 liters actually!
I'm having a HELL of a time finding a case that meets these requirements, this is my first SFF and I didn't know decent cases were so hard to come by!
To tell you guys a little about my build, and why I'm doing it. I need a workhorse for 3D applications, MATLAB, video editing etc.
I need...
