    144Hz true 8 bit 1080P Monitors

I heard the new Asus PG248Q used a true 8bit panel without FRC dithering and was interested to know if other manufactures had adopted this panel however I was not aware of the models you mentioned which sound more interesting, especially the Samsung. Thanks for the heads up.

    Dell UP3017Q - 4K 120HZ Oled 30"

I've owned old IPS panels that were ruined by IR. Newer IPS panels don't have this problem. This is a premium monitor costing several grand. Call me naive but why would Dell bring one of these out at this price for it to only last 5 minutes? Personally I would not buy one of these as I do...

Should i go TN for gaming?

Ditched it for an Asus PG278Q mate. I tried another FG2421 over a year later and it still had the problems I had when I tried the first run. All monitors I tried had Made in Japan stuck on the back. The crosshatching is like I said, it looks like the bonding of the AG coating has got...

Should i go TN for gaming?

Gysnc is not needed, its more of a luxury. Personally I really like it and I prefer it to strobing. Tearing is still present at 144hz without refresh rate syncing its just the image is refreshed so fast on the monitor that tearing happens 'quicker' so its less of an issue at 144 frames per...

Should i go TN for gaming?

I determine good image quality by using my eyes. That glow was present in most games I played. I wanted this monitor to be excellent I truly did. I am not posting this out of spite. But those monitors are not worth the attention unless your extremely dedicated, which sounds like you are, and...

Should i go TN for gaming?

OP would do right to avoid the FG2421. In that pic you can see the shocking glow emitted on a dark screen. If you think that image looks good you need your bloody eyes testing. I've had three of those FG2421's hoping for a good panel and all were shite. The PG278Q crushes this monitor in every...

    Dell S2716DG, 27" 2560x1440 144hz 1ms "G-Sync Gen II", DP+HDMI

On the Fence - ASUS PB287Q or PG278Q

144hz and Gsync should have been out in 2004 when we started switching to LCD's. 10 years of using sluggish panels was a dark age in the PC realm. Sounds like you already got your sights set on 4k though so buy which ever appeals to you the most. My vote would be the PG278Q as I own one and...

    Dell S2716DG, 27" 2560x1440 144hz 1ms "G-Sync Gen II", DP+HDMI

I can see what you mean but I think that is just regular TN gamma shift. What happens if you look at the yellowish areas head on. Do they go away?

    Dell S2716DG, 27" 2560x1440 144hz 1ms "G-Sync Gen II", DP+HDMI

Another vote for the Swifts image quality. Its one of the best monitors I have looked at in a world of VA and IPS monitors. Only the viewing angles let it down for me.

Nvidia plans to lock Game Ready drivers behind GeForce Experience registration

As long as they stick to releasing drivers quarterly that can be downloaded from the website I can live with that. Along with the hotfixes. I recently upgraded to a 980 Ti and it broke Gsync. Without the latest hotfix I was getting worse performance than the 780 it replaced.

Nvidia plans to lock Game Ready drivers behind GeForce Experience registration

This is the same as the Razer cloud based driver crap. Really only benefits them and not the user. Really pissed off with nVidia about some of the decisions they have made with their drivers recently.

    Benq XL2702Z

Lads there is one 144Hz IPS monitor out there in the form of the Acer XB270HU and ASUS are releasing the modestly priced MG279Q. You ain't got no excuses to suffer from shit image quality any more.

    Think I'm Gonna Buy a BenQ XL2720Z

Why don't you save your money and get something high end like the MG279Q or Acer Predator with a 144Hz IPS panel?
  27. D

    Confused about the ASUS MG279Q

This panel probably would have ended up in the Swift if it had surfaced 2 years ago. A G-Sync version of this and the Swift would be obsolete, in less than a year. For a monitor costing nearly 700 quid this would have been a right kick in the testicles for us Swift owners. Not that its any of...

    Think I'm Gonna Buy a BenQ XL2720Z

The XL2720Z on the desktop is a bit fugly. It does very well with pictures and photo's though. In games it really shines and provides a great image (after you have spent 5 mins twiddling knobs and such) and its low DPI does not interfere with the image quality too much in the area of gaming.

Need a 144hz gaming monitor for counterstrike!

Its mad how the Swift came along and shifted the perception of TN panels up a notch or two. Its something you would genuinely consider. Even next to 144hz IPS variants.

Need a 144hz gaming monitor for counterstrike!

Those reviewers must be tripping on acid or have some serious visual impairment as I have tried that XL2411T and it indeed sucks seriously hard. Anyone that values any iota of image quality should avoid that sack of shit. You had a look at the Viewsonic VG2401mh? Not had any first hand...

BENQ - Worst quality control? Lowest quality panels?

The XL2720Z I received from Amazon had excellent build quality but a very minor scratch on the casing. Nothing to make a big deal about and I sent it back because I wanted a Swift but it would not put me off purchasing a Benq monitor in the future. I actually think they make very good monitors.

    VG278H vs Eizo FG2421

Love to find out how many of them was returned. Just hang on a bit. BenQ Have a 1440 144Hz TN coming out. A few other monitors with 144Hz IPS will be out this year.
  36. D

    VG278H vs Eizo FG2421

There are better monitors than the FG2421 and there are more to come out this year. The PG278Q set the bar high and is more consistent in image quality unit to unit (teething issues aside at release). That FG2421 is too much of a risk to bother with.

    [CES2015] ASUS MG279Q 2560 x 1440 Gamer 120Hz IPS 5ms GTG

Does not mean this will be delayed. The Swift's panel was deigned from the ground up for the Swift in mind for a start. This AUO IPS panel has been announced for quite a while now.

    [Freesync] Benq XL2730Z -- 144 Hz, 1440p, 27 inches.

Yup, the announcements of these 144Hz IPS flavours has kinda veiled the interest in this for me. Still a nice option to have though for someone who wants ultra low response times and high resolution.

    Official Acer [XB270HU] 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB Monitor Thread

Some serious desktop love coming out this year. Desktop Broadwell, Windows 10, lots of choice of LCD monitors coming. GSync 4K IPS, 120Hz 1440P IPS, Ultra Wide 144Hz monitors, 24" monitors with 4K and 2560x1440 resolutions for those pixel fiends. Its all really good shit!

    NEC PA322UHD

Interesting to see how this performs in 120Hz mode. Not a bad idea to be honest. 4k on the desktop then slap it in 1080P mode at 120Hz to play your games on and due to the fact 1080P is exactly half of the native resolution it should not look too much of a sack of shit either. Although i'd...
