So usb 3 can supply more power in terms of ma's than usb 2 but do they both use the same connection in the same position.
For example if you plug a usb 2 device into a usb 3 port with a usb 3 cable will you get more power (available milliamps) available than you would if you plugged it into a...
Not oem, retail windows 7 install then upgrade to windows 10.
But what if trying to reinstall windows 10 with no cd key it didn't work automatically, then what, reinstall windows 7 retail and then upgrade again? Would that always work with the old cd key, or could there be no way to reinstall if...
So if I didn't bother with the account and wanted to reinstall it on the same pc with the same motherboard, cpu and gpu what would I have to do, what about retrieving the cd key first?
So could I reinstall from the windows 10 iso with the windows 7 retail cd key without retrieving any key from...
If you wanted to uninstall Windows 10 from a computer and use another os but still have the option to reinstall windows 10 at a later date, what do you need to do before uninstalling to retrieve the cd key etc. (where the windows 10 install was an upgraded windows 7 retail). What's the simplest way?
I am trying to get a fan to upgrade a fanless pc that overheats in summer by adding a fan.
I found this picture of the motherboard, does anyone know what this 4 pin cpu fan plug type is called?
It did crash once before where I think it wouldn't write but a firmware update fixed that about a year ago.
Now it just has a red light and it won't detect at all in bios, I tried ide mode, I tried the ocz bootable iso, I tried leaving it on for hours, tried different plugs, different...
Thanks, I was meaning as an average. I know there can always be faulty things.
How much longer could it be made to last with swap off and browser cache off for example? Would you expect it to last longer or still fail at some power level because it has just as much time powered on even if less...
It's been used for a while with this computer but suddenly today won't work anymore.
So it's been tested with an MSI p67a-c43 version 1 with the faster and slower sata ports.
I also tested it with one of these...
It has a solid light on the side that stays on with another light that also flashes.
Since it's bricked anyway, is there anything I might try? I tried different sata ports and different computers.
I opened it up is there anything I could try?
The ocz vertex II 64gb ssd worked again for quite a while but now it is spontaneously bricked again.
This time it just stalls the computer startup at hdd detection and the OCZ Bootable Tools v4.9.0.634.iso won't detect it if I connect it after bootup.
Any ideas of something to try to fix it...
OK thanks, the temperature probably wouldn't be that high but it's hot in summer, it overheats at night as well when watching video but only in summer.
Is that the same as what a ready made usb fan uses? The ready made ones go off when the pc is off but not when the pc is in standby. It's a tv recording pc.
Thanks, I tried disabling the wake from usb in the bios. It's on the lowest power state setting already.
Because it's an integrated product (non custom build) they don't seem to provide any motherboard diagrams. The best I can find is this page I posted already, here's the translated version...
Yes, thanks Skillz for seeing the point.
I took out the wifi card since I don't need it so not sure if that could be a power source.
It's actually still under warranty so I could wait till next summer and send it back, but it would be an easy fix if there was just a way for the fan to come on...
I have a small fanless computer that overheats in summer without an external usb fan but if you connect a usb fan it will stay on in sleep mode and even when the computer is off.
There is no way to change it in the bios.
Is there a way to connect a very small fan to any other wires on the usb...
I have an mce remote but unlike moving the mouse when you press a button it won't turn off the screensaver.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the remote to turn off the screensaver.
I've got it going through eventghost and autohotkey, so I'm not sure if that is making any difference to...
Ok thanks, I am talking about 1m or less. The shortest length I can get really.
Also I'm in Aus so id like to order one from here instead of overseas.
The biggest problem seems to be sometimes when the computer turns on it doesn't detect the drive when connected to a cable (it's set to mount...
I want to know if anyone is successfully using a usb 3.0 flash drive through any length of extension cable.
I have had no end of trouble trying to use extension cables or hubs. I want to know if it's just inferior quality cables etc. or it's not supposed to work. I even tried a very short...
Actually maybe I wasn't clear enough what I actually mean.
I want to use a usb flash drive like adding an extra hdd to an ssd computer (for storage of media files to playback etc.). It would be always connected but only written to occasionally. So it's not the main OS drive and it wouldn't have...
I heard if you leave it on a shelf it will loose the data over time, but does leaving it plugged in powered make it store indefinitely. Or does the ntfs or et4 refresh files somehow?
I read there was some issue with some ssds where the data had to be rewritten after a few months, I'm guessing a...
Can you add a usb flash stick to a computer as storage (instead of a hdd/ssd) and leave it connected all the time with no issues like loosing data over time?
If you join two sata power cables to make a double length cable to ssd/hdd, could this be too long for the gauge of wire used in standard cables?
I'm not talking about the data cable, just the power one from the psu.
Since usb external drives never seem to work with longer usb cables maybe...
Hello,
I am trying to print labels that have to match exactly to measurements on the page, but the basic laser printer I have is a bit off and prints lines a bit leaning over and misaligned. I tried to adjust it but can't get it to be any better.
What type of laser printer (or other type but...
