30"-32" IPS or VA, any w/ high refresh rate for gaming?

I'm still a huge fan of my XB270HU and thus the newer model XB271HU which adds HDMI in (for consoles) and also has 165Hz refresh rate. ULMB also works at 85, 100, 120Hz on that model as well. I'm waiting for OLED or the new 240Hz panels coming out early next year.

Upgrade to Acer XB271HU from Sony FW900?

I added some bias lighting behind my XB270HU and that helped the perceived contrast IMMENSELY!

Acer X34 has too many problems... what's the best 27" g-sync monitor?

Wow...I currently have a perfect XB270HU but was thinking about getting the XB271HU to do both PC and consoles. That's really unfortunate but I will wait for a true upgrade a la OLED monitors or the just revealed 4K 144Hz Asus monitor.

    Philips BDM4350UC 43 inch 4K IPS PWM-free monitor

Poor contrast, screen uniformity issues, relatively high input lag all for a 43 inch TV that costs $900. Spend the extra couple bucks and get the Vizio P50-C1 VIZIO - 50" Class (49.51" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD Home Theater Display with High Dynamic Range - Black

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

I think Neutral is more accurate compared to Native on my 27xw. I might have that backwards but one of them is too cool and red. The other one is just about right. Contrast is best left alone at least for my unit. Use Lagom tests to check clipping. I think any increase in contrast created...

Replacement for Apple Cinema Display 27" on PC

There are so few displays out there that meet those requirements unfortunately. I settled on the HP 27xw. It's pretty much perfect. Glossy, great color accuracy, fast pixel response and very low input lag. I got mine from Costco for $199 and there is a coupon to take $30 off in their ads...

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

Yup. I agree. Just my observations. Sort of. There is a black level adjust that brings up the gamma from the black to medium levels. The Black adjustment on 3 I believe was best for mine and was pretty much a gamma of 2.22.

Need your suggestion to buy Glossy Monitor

Check out the HP 25/27xw thread. I really like the HP 27xw I picked up from Costco. There is a coupon that starts tomorrow where the 27xw is $160. It has great out of the box color accuracy with the Neutral color setting. Make sure to turn AMA on, it's off by default. My only gripe is it's...

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

Lol good tips Daniel. I seem to be one step ahead of you again. I ONLY use my Xbox One controller via micro USB with no batteries in it to keep lag as low as possible. I'm giving real world observations based on my experience. On PC the lag @75Hz isn't noticeable, although I didn't do...

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

HP27xw has way faster pixel response compared to any VA panel. It's close to the XL2411z which is one of the fastest TN panels out there. Another interesting note, I hooked it up to my PC and was able to overclock it effortlessly to 75Hz. I played a game of Battlefield 4 and didn't notice...

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

Man that was a lot of research! Nice! I have actually looked at all of that before I bought the monitor. I will research something until it's a dead horse. I would agree that based on measurements provided by NCX it would be basically lag free. I can tell you from experience vs the Benq...

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

Just played a round of Halo 5 swat. I would get killed before I could even shoot. It's noticeable. If you're a gamer beware.

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

I'm super sensitive to input lag. I usually play on the XB270HU @ 144Hz. That has basically 0ms input lag. XL2411z is equal or better in non ULMB @ 60Hz. I'm just comparing between the two. Just tried HDMI 2 and no difference. It's just enough to make aiming and prediction hard.

    HP 25-27" CW & XW: Almost-Glossy Overclock-able 1080p IPS

Picked up a HP27xw from Costco. Thanks Daniel_Chang! Initial impressions are great out of the box color temp and accuracy. Gamma also quite linear to 2.2 There is some input lag, noticeable compared to XL2411Z. I'll try the other HDMI input to see if there is any difference. Backlight...

    Best Console Gaming Monitor?

Sorry, I meant the HP 27xw(fixed). There seems to be issues with longevity and customer support. That video is interesting. It looks like the Samsung has slightly lower input lag just by looking at the video. Also, the Phillips uses PWM dimming so that's a no go.

    Best Console Gaming Monitor?

Okay, here goes... Benq XL2720z: Originally bought XL2720z for pc and consoles. I loved everything about it including color accuracy, motion clarity and response time but the TN panel at that size was a no go for general use. Eizo FG2421: Bought because everyone was saying it was the Beez...

No-latency overclockable (up to 1080p@~270Hz) monitor controller board

Get in contact with Mark Rejhon over at Blurbusters.com. I know he posted an article about this back in 2013 but there was an NDA with the chip being used. If you are considering selling this as a mod, he would be a great person to talk to. This is just in it's infancy, and I'm sure that many...

    Official Acer [XB270HU] 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB Monitor Thread

It's nice to see that people can get this monitor without any issues. Mine is perfect except for minor backlight bleed and ips glow. Not noticeable, and definitely better than a VA panel gamma shift. Best monitor I've seen yet.

Either check with menu button on monitor (button to the left of power and then hit up arrow to show display information) or use your graphics card control panel to check the resolution. One thing I found in gsync mode is that the monitor will stay at whatever refresh rate is set on desktop...

    Official Acer [XB270HU] 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB Monitor Thread

I've had this monitor for a little while and LOVE it! To those that have received bad units I am sorry because this monitor is amazing. FYI for desktop, use 100hz. Anything above that screws up the gamma. 2.2 gamma on the display yields about a 2.1-2.2 actual gamma. When gaming at 144hz...

    Official Acer [XB270HU] 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB Monitor Thread

FYI I got mine from Acer directly and got a nearly perfect monitor. I figured the less shipping and changing of hands the better. Minor backlight bleed in the bottom right but surprisingly VERY little IPS glow! I am amazed at that. I previously had a Benq GW2760HS and while the contrast and...

    Official Acer [XB270HU] 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB Monitor Thread

So I turned on my Acer this morning and the resolution was like a 480p youtube video. Nvidia control panel said it was at 1440p 144hz. I switched it to 100hz and the monitor couldn't find a signal. I restarted the computer and switched back to 144hz and everything is fine now. Is this an...

    Dell S-Line Screens - S2740L, S2440L, S2340M, S2340L, S2240M

I'm not sure about a bug since I'm running Dual link DVI from my GTX 570. And yes, I notice a nice difference. By setting the refresh rate one Hz higher than what I cap my games at, I get almost zero screen tearing with Vsync OFF.
