Yeah I forgot to mention they got those discounts as well. I think their all-in price was around $1,070 taxes included. What a far cry from the $3K 144Hz Pg32UQX. I actually wanna see higher zone count FALD monitors now since the price has come down so much. Between the MiniLED and OLED...
My friend and cousin managed to get the Neo G9 at the following price. January 2024 manufacturing dates. Only issue they've experiencing so far is flickering with G-Sync enabled so far.
Man, the fact that these boards are ~$900 but are packed to the brim with actual tech shows how much of a rip off the motherboards are in the regular desktop space. Consumer AM5 and Z790 motherboards for $1K+ with half the featureset is just ridiculous. Yes, I know there are reasonably...
Not going to be able to explain how the 12 bit option operates but something else to consider. Apparently, according to a German review site and maybe one other place, even the 10 bit mode on the PG32UQX works up to 120 Hz (or maybe 100Hz? I forget). After that, it's 8 bit + FRC.
All I can...
I can only guess as to why Asus lowered it in the later revisions. Maybe they thought it was uncomfortable for the average user. Because getting hit with even 1,000 nits is really eye-searing. I end squinting when I get flash banged in The Division 2 because it's so bright at 1,600 nits.
If I recall correctly, RDR2 does allow you to specify the peak brightness via nits as well. I'd have to double-check since it's been a while. Not sure about the others as I haven't played them yet although I think BF2042 also does it.
Now here is where it gets tricky. The peak Fullscreen...
What games are you playing? Many HDR enabled games allow you to specify the maximum brightness (as well as minimum brightness) in HDR. If you are comparing the same games without tweaking the HDR settings, both monitors will look the same. Change the HDR peak brightness settings on the PC...
The 150w per PCI-e connector is a baseline requirement that Nvidia/AMD use that to ensure the widest compatibility with their GPUs. The idea being that if a user has a cheaper quality PSU, the GPU won't draw more power than the PSU can supply. In reality, a lot of the quality PSU...
Don't forget the 8800 Ultra which started at $830 in spring 2007. I'm not sure if that is a better comparison to the xx90/Titan cards from the recent past but it was only a bump in clock and memory speeds.
Got an FE. Had to switch stores because the one closest to me said sold out. Despite that, still managed to get it.
Really curious to see how long this will last.
To maximize your space, there's also this:

...Is this....is this real? I'm still not sure I believe this, especially with the way Nvidia is calling it an "unlaunching". URL and everything checks out...but wow.
I have the Supreme Liquid on the way. From the TPU review, while the temps weren't noticeably quieter, the fans did run several hundred RPMs lower and was quieter by about 3 dbs. The combination of overbuilt 600w air coolers and the Suprim running very quiet would be why the delta in temps...
Or the retailers could have been taken a conversative approach, too. Why take a risk by buying up all that stock when there's a lot of 3000 series sitting around at discounted prices? The uncertainty of demand after the crypto crash and fears of the economy would also be a factor. If sales...
Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition (this is a completely separate install from the regular Metro Exodus and was provided as a free update), Control, MS Flight Simulator, Doom Eternal are pretty impressive stuff. Spider-Man Remastered although again, just like Cyberpunk 2077, it may not be updated...
As has been alluded, some people got a link to directly place you in the queue for the FE. It was circulated on Twitter and Twitch stock notification channels. People who clicked on the link at 8:59 AM were added to the line automatically and it was pretty much done at that stage.
Best Buy...
MSI Suprim X Liquid RTX 4090
Available on MSI. Base model @ $1599 MSRP also available.
GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming Trio 24G
I got the order in for the Liquid one. Still deciding between this and FE. Let's see how easy it is to order one at 9 AM EST.
What would you recommend? I'm having a hard time accepting $500+ motherboards all of which seem to be missing one feature or another. I get that there's the pandemic, inflation, supply chain disruptions but when even spending $1,000 isn't enough to get a board with just about everything as...
I've been itching to upgrade as I've been sitting on the x99 platform since 2014. But man, the prices and the feature set is really something on these AM5 motherboards. For $1,000+, I'd expect a mobo to have just about every feature and yet that's not the case. Pretty disappointing. I didn't...
I know Digital Foundry has a 4090 because they released a preview of the performance testing they had done this far. As for NDA lift, I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.
Hmmm, echoing Skyhopper, that is really interesting. What's interesting is that the initial reviews were clearly based on the firmware with less ABL and higher sustained brightness at much larger windows. Not sure how I feel about a stealth change after the fact but I guess that's par for the...
Hmm, really? Which batch would that be e.g. what's the manufacturing date?
I'll say that in my own comparisons, I did prefer the way the PG32UQX handled the backlight over the PA32UCG, even with the more noticeable blooming.
Yeah, I noticed a bit of that behavior when comparing the PA32UCG vs PG32UQX. The ProArt monitor isn't as aggressive as Samsung's G8/G9 but I remember thinking as much as the PG32UQX makes blooming more apparent, I actually preferred how the PG32UQX displayed the image in the vast majority of...
I wonder if that's the side effect of Samsung's FALD algorithm to reduce apparent bloom. Because otherwise the ABL is certainly not there to extend longevity of the pixels since that's a non-issue.
How does the HDR on the G8 compare to the AW34? Does the image pop more noticeably on the G8 compared to the AW34? Really curious which one wins out, greater peak brightness or the infinite contrast.
Yeah, I had to change the DPI scaling to 125%, which just about sizes everything to what I was used to on the Dell 30". I know some apps still don't look great with the Windows DPI scaling but for my usage, it's been fine thus far.
So if the Viewsonic is like the Asus, then you should be able to disable FALD when in SDR and have it enabled to one of three different modes for HDR. Some games still require HDR to be enabled in Windows and that's where the handy Winkey + Alt + B shortcut comes in handy. When FALD is...
Seeing how much the Neo G9 underperformed, I'm wondering if the Neo G8 will even be able to hit 1,000 nits peak brightness. Aside from the HDR performance, still pretty impressed by a 4K 240Hz screen. Is there any other 4K/240Hz screen that's been announced? I think this is pretty much it, right?
Yeah, got it. I have both 120Hz Asus displays as well and seen the same issues. However, most of the content I engage with (games and videos) don't seem to be impacted in any noticeable way by using 144Hz 8-bit FRC.
What do you mean by the MiniLEDS are easy to see? Are you referring to the blooming/zones you can see around bright objects as they move around? In SDR with FALD turned off, it really should look just like sharper, brighter Dell U3011. In HDR games titles or videos, the content should look...
When you say the PG32UQX only does 8 bit at 144Hz, I'm curious to what you're referring to here. In the Nvidia Control, you can actually select not just 10-bit, but 12-bit. Granted, I've seen reviewers mention that anything above 120Hz, if I recall correctly, actually triggers 8-bit FRC.
I...
Vincent from HDTest keeps mentioning this point but do you guys notice the blacks turning gray when using with lights turned on? Or is it fairly subtle? Im curious how the blacks compare to the LG OLEDs under well-lit conditions.
