Dead motherboard testing completed, it partially powers on then shuts off. No display on monitor. More details in original post.

Ah, yes. Skipping the health scan disables the entire drive, though it usually prompts you after another reboot. Glad you were able to fix it though.

I would try your idea of reseating the card as well. Also, you could roll back the last Windows update (do a shadow copy restore) and see if the behavior changes.

Fair point, though based on your use case, the extra endurance of MLC (the NAND type of this drive) vs TLC would be worth spending more for (e.g. $300 at the link provided by ozo173) the drive than a $200 TLC drive with less space. Probably not worth it at $550+ unless you have money to burn. :)
