It's been months and the 480 is still broken in vr. Reminiscent of the Crossfire debacle which AMD denied for ages until multiple sites exposed the truth.
It will be a game changer but Matrix quality VR is still quite a few years away. It's ridiculous to call the current state of technology virtual reality.
After all the blather about how "next generation" superiority favored AMD, once again turns out to be hot air.
with the RX 480 I did notice some texture flickering that was not present on the GTX 1060, oops.
Compared to the Radeon RX 480, everything is improved at the cost of only $60, which results in a price-performance ratio that is 10% worse, something I'd go for any day.
From techpowerup. MSI gaming 1060 way better and cheaper.
MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X review
The MSI Twin Frozen 1070 just destroys previous generation especially Fury X, even in Dx12. Also stays below 70c quietly. Grateful for sites like Hardocp , Guru3d, PC perspective, Tech Report that do legit real world testing.
Get a custom cooled overclocked from EVGA or one of the others. Faster cooler, better PCB for smooth power, and no throttling issues. They will beat the FE by 20% which is plenty fast.
The rumored big daddy Pascal gaming cards won't be out until early next year and they will be monsters, but...
Hi Kyle,
Great work as always. Apparently the invitation to Macau includes an NDA until June 29th. That does not sound good. What do you think?
AMD’s Macau, China event NDA gets lifted June 29th
No matter, we will see soon enough either way, keeping in mind P10 was NOT designed to compete with GTX1080(officially or otherwise) so many keep forgetting this part and of course are LOL, and LMAO AMD sux type comments, I very much doubt AMD would or can afford to release actual true...
Amd fanbois are gnashing their teeth and whining because Nvidia is officially releasing new cards which put even more distance between Amd who are losing hundreds of millions every year. AMD has already admitted they can't match Pascal so it's a horrible day for them.
Exactly. OC'd custom 980tis beat it by 20 to 40%, not even close.
AND NOW FOR SOME REAL NEWS!
NVIDIA Pascal Editors' Day to take place next week | VideoCardz.com
PASCAL TO BE UNVEILED NEXT WEEK. 1080 and 1070. For sale at retail in MAY!
That's a surprise!
In the real world, most 980 tis sold were AIB custom which out of the box were significantly faster than Fury X which had little OC headroom.
It's amazing how much vaporware gets some people riled up. Actual products will be out soon enough.
980ti outsold Fury by about 20 to one according to Steam.
Plus there are now Custom oc'd 980 tis that run as much as 30% faster ( MSI Lightning, ASUS ROG, EVGA CLASSIFIED) than reference while being cooler and quieter. Fury X can't touch these.
Plus there are now Custom oc'd 980 tis that run as much as 30% faster ( MSI Lightning, ASUS ROG, EVGA CLASSIFIED) than reference while being cooler and quieter. Fury X can't touch these. From Hardocp last week: the overclock then increased the performance edge of the MSI 980ti SEA HAWK compared...
I understand. It's just that the custom 980tis are SO much faster even than Titan, some with little difference in price from the reference card. so an article concluding that Titan provides the best available experience in today's marketplace might not be entirely accurate. FURY X has been shown...
Don't understand why comparisons are to stock cards as most Nvidia buyers get custom cooled FROM AIB partners many of which are much faster out of the box.
Hiring should be based on skill set qualifications ONLY, not skin color, ethnicity gender and other irrelevant rubbish. The qualifying criteria should NEVER be affirmative actioned lower for an unqualified individual, whether they are mentally and or physically qualified should be ALL that matters.
The cost of pushing the card an additional 3% using voltage tweaks is almost 150 watts!
Also, it would seem that Fury X is more bandwidth-limited than AMD press led us to believe. Otherwise you wouldn't expect the memory bump to have such a noticable effect on performance at clocks only 10%...
Hi Kyle!
Any plans to do some custom 980 ti reviews in the near future? It seems you guys have been doing a lot of AMD lately and some of the new 980 tis are performing at much higher levels than reference.
Bad week for AMD fanbois as Fury hardly distinguished itself and the power draw of 290x in Crossfire is insane. Nvidia is really putting the hurt on AMD since Maxwell came out and AMD clearly has not caught up.
PC World's review of the EVGA SC 980ti shows it crushing Fury badly.

In terms of performance there wasn't any game where the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X was faster than the GeForce GTX 980 Ti. In some games, it did match the same gameplay experience, which was a major upgrade from the AMD Radeon R9 290X. However, in every game the GTX 980 Ti always had the framerate...
