I came back to this thread to update my thoughts on HDR.
Resident evil 7 for PC has come out and has HDR support. I'm on the LG C6 OLED.
So things get much darker which to me was a problem at first. Then, I began switching it off and back on to see the difference.
The depth of color. The...
Color brightness and color accuracy is the issue for you at the moment.
HDR is giving you far more true to life color which means you're getting less pop. If you're attracted to bright over exaggerated color (Which some are. I am too, to be honest.) It's not going to have the same effect.
Only thing I have noticed is that the curve is aesthetically pleasing.
You might want to see if they vary in Input lag. The LG C6 I got has lower input lag than the B6.
Other than that the difference is hardly noticable. I never saw a bulge.
Glare spreads across the curve a little more in...
So I picked up the 55 inch LG OLED, and granted I don't have my desk situation set up yet so I'm too close..
But, I have this nagging feeling that it's over kill, it's an obviously fantastic picture but I've lost some of the sharpness going from 40 to 55.
Part of me wants to drop to the Sony...
I'm with you.
There's always a new wrinkle. It's so difficult sometimes. To be honest I'm running a single 980TI, granted it's the Zotac AMP edition and the benchmarks are the highest for that card because it's clocked to the skies, but I haven't had any issues pushing 4K performance with...
This is what I struggled with in my post asking a similar question.
There aren't many panels that accept true 120HZ from a PC at 1080, but I believe the sony's do.
I decided on stretching to the LG OLED, but still in the back of my mind I'm thinking of the x850D for the added 120 benefit...
It's not a failed logic at all I think you just keep ignoring the versatility factor.
You can but a 30 inch or lower monitor and have all the speed, but no ability to run other genres of games at 4K 60 HZ.
The sony, while a compromise, can do both.
Play shooters at 1080 and 120 frames...
This was what I was currently thinking to make the 55 work. 55 on an Ikea style desk.
An Ikea style desk a couple of inches shorter underneath the same desk on the adjustable wheeled legs. Then I can just pull it out like a tray and slide it back under when I don't need it.
Kind of an...
I think the logic is that 1080 can still be am acceptable resolution on a large panel display, especially considering console games don't really run at 4k even with the exception of the PS4 pro. That's upscaled, too.
You guys are still saying that you can only get 60Hz for monitor use with the...
In the event I was in a situation where I wanted to have fluidity over resolution. A shooter, for example.
It's still a great set and it just adds a layer of versatility that the other sets don't have.
I was just thinking of trying to stretch for an OLED. I also had worries about the size, too.
It seems like it's being done enough and that I can stand or mount it deep enough for it to work. Think I should consider 49?
Truth. I love the VR concept and the headset but I hate fucking wearing it. Smooshing my glasses and getting my face sweat and wet.
The resolution is a nightmare too.
That being said, I'm crossing my fingers for advancement outside of gaming.
There's also something about VR that is just...
Thanks for this. That's really what I'm leaning towards but it's the curve of the Samsung and the supposedly deeper blacks, lower input lag and all that's making me second guess. This has helped though. 120 at 1080 is a versatile thing to have.
This was a mistake. I meant the x850D. I'll edit to reflect that.
EDIT: I've narrowed it down to the x850D or the KS8500.. I hate Samsung for not allowing 120 at 1080 on their panel.
Hey guys,
I know I usually just post to bleed you guys dry of information, so thanks in advance.
So I'm putting my brain in a pretzel over which direction to go for my monitor upgrade.
I'm coming from a 2015 Samsung JS6300 I believe, it's a 40 inch 4K. When I had it the picture quality blew...
I have a Zotac All 980 TI extreme, if I get one of these with similar clock speed does it make sense to SLI them or just get another Zotac which is also on sale for 414?
Right now the Hifiman HE 400I is on sale for 329. This has me tempted.
The he560 is also 599 but the reviews on those say they have that flatter sound I wasn't a fan of.
I might pull the trigger on the 400i
I have not yet, but maybe I will give it a shot.
I actually am back in the market for headphones and an amp with a larger budget this time so trying to refresh some of the content in this thread. Thinking maybe 6-800 and just being done with it.
Minor update.
I played The Division beta today and they really came alive (the Fidelio x2's) so I have high hopes that I'm getting used to them. Dialogue is really incredible.
For instance, I have been playing heroes of the storm with the Space Lord leoric skin, and the game it's self...
I originally thought 6-7 would be feasible, I guess I'm not there now since this dragged on so long but I'd still be willing to hear suggestions in that range.
Most of the suggestions have been 3-4 anyway though.
Thank you for this information. So, to summarize. x2's into receiver. Receiver in titanium xfi? or is the pioneer now what carries that simulated surround and I need to plug into on board?
Yeah I might be, and I'm wondering if I should just start moving away from the importance of positional in games.
So, I'm looking at the V-MODA M100, but has anyone had any experience with any of the Bowers and Wilkins sets? I know I'm going off the grid but I always sort of liked them.
Also...
No, I actually still feel as if I'm experiencing the opposite. The only thing these two supposedly great headphones have in common is that they are open back and neither I am very impressed with.
Unrelated. I have a Pioneer receiver, do these work as amps in any capacity?
I seem to be really struggling here. I've fixed the static issue, but I don't know, am I just too far in the lower range of headsets to notice a big difference compared to like Astro a40's? Am I simply expecting to be blown away too much.
Even the x2's aren't exactly making me fall in love. I'm...
So my X2's came in today, and I'm just now giving them a test run. One thing I am immediately noticing is that I can crank the volume all the way to 100% comfortably, where as the 598's were way too loud at like 60-70. Is this indicative of a problem?
EDIT: Is this where an AMP comes into play...
I will be honest, I am enjoying them more and more (Bass boost has helped this) as I toy with settings and sources. I think if anything, I will amp them and then just keep them and upgrade later.
One thing I am thinking is maybe I overrated the need for positional audio in gaming and may get...
Yeah, I think fullness is the best way to describe it. Theres just not a lot of wow factor to them so far. Like positioning is nice, and it's a noticable upgrade but there's this sort of distinct lack of punch. I wonder how much of it is open back.
And honestly having no frame of reference on...
They are definitely growing on me, but I still cant help but feel like somethings missing.. it's hard to explain.
I haven't seen many people talk about Ultrasone's .. no good?
EDIT 1 MILLION: These fuckers are growing on me. Messed with some settings in my soundcard software, etc. They've been better, will probably amp them with FiiO E17, that seems to be a good pairing?
Oh, for sure.
I listened to them on my phone and they sounded better, I think maybe they are really *different* so I need to get used to them.
I do have a feeling I will end up trying the phillips next, I just have a feeling that they will be more up my alley. Even using my astro a40's I...
Early impressions and no break in obviously, but theres something really harsh and tinny about them so far. Gaming only as of now.\
EDIT: Pending some form of break in I think I hate them. They have been nearly uncomfortable to listen to at all volumes, there's such a high snap to everything.
