I wish but doubt it. 780 prices are kind of all over the place particularly on amazon. I saw one evga card for $494.99, next day it was $529.99. And the Classy at $579 is still too much in my opinion.
Not to go off topic too much from Brents excellent review, but could we possibly see 780s cut down to around $450 and 770s at $299 by week's end?
EDIT: typo. Sorry for calling Brent Brenda lol
Prices are all over the place right now. Wonder when Amazon will catch up and adjust their prices. I only see a couple cards on amazon that have seen price cuts.
Wondering the same thing. To me, a gk110 770ti at around $450ish makes more sense than a 780ti. Hopefully, it still materializes before black Friday/cyber Monday.
I think its pretty easy to extrapolate performance based on the 290x review. Will most likely be just a tad below a 780 for I'm going to guess around $450.
Reading of all the issues, I'm kind of glad that apparently MS doesn't think I should get the update (nothing in store to download). Ill just stick with vanilla 8.
I went through almost the same thing. I was this close to buying the 25bw but got the Samsung instead based on NCX's nice review on it. Set it to 72hz right out of the box. While obviously 1440p would be better at this screen size, I don't regret my purchase. Blacks are really nice, I don't...
I'm considering this card just because I'm already on thin ice picking up a new gpu with the old lady. Anything $400 and over she would probably have an aneurysm. So until they put out some numbers re: price, performance, power draw, thermals on some 290s, this is the card I'm eyeing.
How I...
My comment was intended with a healthy dose of sarcasm. Nevertheless, I think this launch has been pretty frustrating for many potential buyers. I really don't understand the defcon 5 secrecy amd has in regards to release dates/performance/price of these new cards.
The 290 and 290x are beginning to seem like vaporware to me. Really expected to see some write ups today but oh well. AMD needs to realize that people are not patient. We want what we want when we want it.
8 am here and Newegg still says coming soon so I guess launch day is not today. Still waiting on some official reviews to come up as I'm gonna assume the nda still ended today?
You mean my Northwood won't cut it anymore?? haha, no I just built a new rig a couple months ago. Just been holding off on gpu till the holidays. I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of the old 260 but its time to retire.
If the $450 price tag holds true, this may very well be my next gpu. Been hanging onto my dinosaur gtx260 waiting for the holidays. Hope more info becomes available soon about release date. My wallet is burning a hole in my pocket.
I agree on the budget. My sister though was prepared to buy a MacBook for her hence the $1000 budget. I have her looking at some lenovos as those seem to have a decent reputation.
As the title states my niece will be starting college soon and she doesn't really want to go Mac and win8 scares her. I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on laptops in regards to build quality, service, durability etc., so I figured I would come ask the pros. Gaming is non essential. Will...
I recently purchased the Samsung S27C750p. 27" VA panel. I'm pretty happy with it despite it only being 1080p. I've got mine up to 75hz. It was around the $300 mark. NCX has a review on it up here if you want to know more.
Do you also do web browsing or any reading with that 32"? If so, how do you find the text to be? I just went 27" 1080p and been thinking of returning it. Text just isn't crisp enough almost gives me a headache after awhile.
Yes I meant power phases. I'm just of the opinion that for an 8 core cpu, for any serious ocing, say 4.5+ on an 8320, I would want more than a 4 phase design. Running stock or very mildly OC'd, his current board would probably suffice. Completely agree with you about AIO liquid coolers. I'd...
I believe the OPs current board is an M5A97 LE which I believe is only a 4+2 ppd. So he could see some benefit going with a higher pp design in the sabertooth.
So, in shopping around for a 760 I'm down to either the msi gaming or the galaxy gc. I've found plenty of info on the msi but on the Galaxy it seems a little sparse. I believe, from what I've read it has a 6+8 pin connectors and a 6+2 ppd but that the memory cooling wasn't the greatest. Just...
Just a small update on my 8320. Currently, I have it at 4.4 on stock voltage (just bumping multi to 22). Package temp during prime95 small fft hits 46.7 while it8721f hits about 56. I ended up cutting out a hole in the case behind the mobo and sticking a 92mm fan blowing onto the back of the...
So based on the specs, would a 760 be enough to game decently at 1440? Was planning on a 770 but if the pricing on the 760s is really sub 300 that makes it a harder choice. I'm going to guess that it probably won't be quite enough.
Needing a little guidance with my temps while overclocking. Working on ocing my 8320. Currently have it at 4.1 running stable stock voltage (multi at 19.5 fsb 200). During prime testing, hwinfo64 has 2 different cpu temps. One just says CPU [#0] AMD FX-8320. It tops out at 43.6 C. The...
