The power savings is certainly a factor, but more so the heat out put and perceived reliability/longevity of an LED backlit vs. CCFL display. Perhaps I'm wrong but I just generally have more faith in an LED-backlit panel being more reliable and lasting longer. My ordered just shipped...

Are you using Photoshop? If so do you have a Quadro video card? Photoshop uses OpenGL for 10-bit color, not DirectX, which you need to have a Quadro card to do. So assuming you don't have a Quadro card, it's probably reverting to default since that profile isn't supported in Photoshop...
