    LSI 9271-8i and Intel RES2CV360

Well i went and got myself 5 new harddrives but i need to remove one drive from "RAID-1" to be able to make a "RAID-2" because the 9271-8i only got 2 SFF-8087 on the card... just to backup the array (RAID-1) before adding the expander to the mix... is it possible???

    First RAID5 ever.

Write policy: Always Write Back or Write policy: Write Through is the ones I'm mostly concerned about.. i have no clue what that one is about.. but also Read policy: Always Read Ahead like i said before i have no BBU or a CacheVault.

    First RAID5 ever.

i have no BBU so as far as my understanding goes i cannot use Caching if i care at all about my data. i understand that.. so it is that big of a risk then... hm... no they are not on the HCL. well its mostly movies and series. I'm going back and forth on the Raid 5 vs. Raid 6.. How big...
