Refurb 7970s recently going for about $250. Can't go wrong there. It's exactly what I would do. Your Q6600 at 3GHz is enough CPU for a long while. I might also try to get a total of 8GB for system memory.
Don't listen to the detractors, they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about...
Well, I really don't like where Dice took the Battlefield series, especially in denying any kind of mod support for the game in order to better pander DLC.
I'm not having much hope for Battlefront 3 to be anything more than a dumbed down, arcadey mess, streamlined to sell DLC.
Amazed to see this hit 3 pages. Doubt this thread would of got even a third of the same attention if it didn't involve the opposite sex.
Seems desperate on behalf of the posters.
What a weird post. A MBP is not low powered, and if you have a modern MBP why are you citing your T20 first as "your computer" like it's your daily use machine or something. We both know it isn't.
Anyways, looks like the situation was a result of wanton ignorance and this thread a waste of...
OK dude, you really don't know what you're talking about. Going from a 3930k to Haswell will net maybe 1-2 frames at most and is definitely not worth doing at all for any practical purpose.

About a 6-7%...
A lot of people like it? Maybe.
A lot more people don't like it, though. And it certainly wasn't better than Diablo 2, which is absent from the list.
It's also strange that PC GOTY '99 (Homeworld) also didn't make the list.
This post is fucking hilarious. Of course MMO's have overhead, but they also have the potential for far superior profit margins than your typical game (big time snowball effect). Also as your subscriber base increases, profit margins will continue to increase while overhead will increase only...
Completely pointless to continue discussion until the OP shows us some kind of benchmark (easy to do with Fraps benchmarking feature) in a particular game with the settings being ran. I would also recommend running 3dmark 11 and telling us what you get.
I'd say it's better to just buy the 2400. Seems you can get it for around the same price as 2133.
An overclocked Richland 6800k and DDR3 2400 RAM on a large 720 monitor/TV (24"-28") would make for a pretty sweet and cheap gaming setup.
Then again a Pentium G2020 or something like that...
Hyperthreading has been around since the Northwood Pentium 4s (circa 2002). So I'd say HT will never have a widespread and strong effect on videogame performance. No need to buy a super expensive motherboard if you don't plan on overclocking.
LOL at the blacklash.
I had a max level of every class throughout the expansions (botted through honorbuddy or WoWGlider, depending on how far back you go; never was one of the lowlifer poopsockers that could sit there and do quests through 5+ days played to get a max level char) and played a...
Funny to see this thread degraded into PvE dickwaving. Not surprising though, given that seems to be the focus of most players. Grind out some PvE gear to do some more PvE grinding. I guess it's alright if you find the scripted events interesting to the 20th time.
Why don't you tardlings try...
When I tried out the expansion, I found it to cater to the lowest common denominator. It did this more than the prior expansion, and the one before that. Definitely a noticable trend. PvP became pretty abysmal, which was the only reason I ever played WoW. If you like to run dungeons and raid, I...
Um... a "superfine" copper mesh is not going to fill in the microscopic valleys and ridges that would otherwise be occupied by air, which is an insulator. That is the point of a TIM. Of course it wouldn't work well. How daft.
Sorry bros, there are elements in games that only Nintendo first party and similar seem to be able to create. I owned a PS2 & PS3 and have a PS4 on preorder (subject to change). I do not own any Nintendo products at this time. So, my comments are pretty unbiased in that way.
Playstation 1 games...
I will admit Ape Escape captivated my interest when I saw the commercials back in the day. I'm sure it sucks ass though. Those games I listed are adventure games, ripe with puzzles and teeming with other super awesome challenges of skill and wit that served to well occupy my tender little brain...
Tomb Raider was great if you were horny and <15 years old. Crash Bandicoot I always thought was the PS equivelant to a Mario game or something. I actually bought it on PSN and tried it out, wow. You are in a lane and jump over shit. That is the most horrible game I have ever played. I never felt...
Yeah PS1 games were pretty bland. Hated the shit out of them, actually. They had nothing remotely like Mario/Zelda/Banjo Kazooie/etc.
And N64 games seem to have aged much better. I always noticed the ass-tastic polygon warping on the PS1, another huge turnoff for me, even at that young an age.
I agree with this if you are looking at it from a more modern perspetive, but when EQ came out it was the first of its kind in addition to being the "my first MMO" for many. One should keep that in mind in their critique.
That is the most disingenuous, hipsteresque apology I've ever seen. Opening with "I am pissed?" Seriously? And if that doesn't cheese it up, including asterisks for emphasis? That apology reads like a 4chan post or something. If that is any indicator of the company itself, then this Ouya (the...
This country is all kinds of fucked up, from judgements like this to the imbeciles that condone them. Not surprised to see a few of them posting here at HardOCP.
Such an OC seems to indicate the potential for a lot more headroom out of that arch. There has been high OCs like that since Bulldozer. Too bad AMD couldn't find a way to get 5ghz+ retail parts out. I guess they will have one now, actually.
Of course if AMD is helping these people out with...
Never touched any BF single player. I do enjoy single player games though. It has to be a truly worthwhile story, and that is very rare. Games like Skyrim and Dragon Age never appealed to me because they felt like single player MMOs, very lame.
I can think of a few games that had great single...
Sorry but a 7850 will struggle to bottleneck anything made in the last 4 years. It's a good match to an LGA775 quad.
OP: just find the best quad for the least price, either through eBay or the FS/FT section. I'm sure there is someone with a quad and MB they would let go for a song. If you do...
