Do you have any specific info on the thunderbolt problem and why is black better on LG? It is the same panel.
I had LG 34UC97, but swapped for Dell 5K.
Still, since 5K is a bit problematic in Windows due to not all apps working scaled and really s****y driver by Nvidia, I'm thinking of going...
I hope next gen cards will be 1.3 or we're not going to see those monitors until 2017/2018. Hopefully we'll then see 50" 5040x2160 and 6880x2880 34". :)
I'm planning on getting 2 of these since I won't bother waiting for Asus that simply never comes. Just would like to know how serious issues are in latest batches?
I'm running BenQ 24", Dell 5K 27" and Swift. I need real estate, but 5K doesn't play nice with differently scaled monitors in Windows (OSX does) and since I can't afford two, I'll give up on high-DPI and go with something else.
Not sure yet if I'll wait for DP1.3 and fast refresh IPS/VA or just...
Well, since I'm selling a $1800 5K I mas as well buy one LG/Dell and wait for second Acer :)
100Hz is nice :)
The only thing that worries me is the QA of Acer. Not the most famous for being the best.
Those speakers make it way too wide :(
Yeah, TN comment didn't have to do with that. :)
Regarding lag I did work and play just fine with a 16ms screen so I don't care as much. :)
More contrast looks tempting...
I'm not sure if I've mentioned, but I'm swapping my Dell 5K (which I...
Have you seen any other?
Have you compared the contrast and/or speed?
I also do have it, an Xrite i1. That little boy even got a TN Swift to look "fine" (except for angles :()
I want the curved one. Helps tremendously with convex effect a large flat has. But that screen is just the same panel as other soo...
Yes, I'd also wish for a larger one.
Anyway, I might buy two UC87 (cheaper than 97, better... no TB but I don't care)....
I've tried only LG 34UC97, was a bit annyoed by its AG coating and sharpening effect, but would love to hear if anyone here tried other screens I'm thinking about.
LG 34UC97 - I know the stand sucks, but it also has 2 addon mDP/TB inputs
LG 34UC87 - better stand, should be same screen?
Dell...
Hmm, there really is no need for DP 1.3. Dell's 5K I have works very nice with two DP 1.2 cables, no issues.
Making a larger screen with larger screen res is not necessarily going to be 4K in terms of resolution by vert. You can make a 3740x1600 for example, or something else. Even in case of...
It really was not worse. Acer has much worse problems and worse QC results, also some of the criticism comes from the fact that Acer is quite a bit worse in build quality, which adds insult to injury.
I have several personal issues with today's monitors:
1. I want 5K-ish for clarity (using now with UP2715K)
2. I want curved 21:9 for best ever ratio and comfort/productivity (used LG34UC97)
3. I want IPS for colors and clarity (gloss-AG, IGZO IPS please, used UP3214Q)
4. I want 144Hz for...
No.
Curved in LG's 34UC97 is the best thing that happened to monitors in a long time. That curvature is amazingly good. It is so subtle, but so important, especially at 21:9 which, on the other hand, is also amazing.
The only fail they did is matte AG coating that is simply too aggressive...
Well, I really gave my best at patience and effort, but they're too rigid for a premium product and such a price.
Anyway, my suggestion was on-topic since we're dealing with 21:9 screens. My remark about Dell was "generic" since it is an experience with the same product type.
I really hope...
I would stay away from Dell in any circumstances. I've been foolish enough to buy UP3214Q as an early adopter and they'be been supposedly trying to help and exchange it, but refused to exchange it directly when it died (thick red line vertically). They've insisted on using their local service...
I see that this new panel is not IGZO like UP3214Q was. Has anyone seen a difference? UP3214Q had very nice picture quality but first editions had issues with MST.
UP3214Q size offers real estate, UP2715K offers sharpness... Serious decision for one who plans on it.
After a full reset of BIOS settings and application of XMP for 3000, my sys. agent is 0.852V.
Would I see any degradation of performance or stability with 8 dimms? I've read newer platforms don't mind, but I'm not sure. (planning to add a second 4x4 pack). Judging by VCSSA so far it could be a...
Hmm, my XMP did not change that I think. RVE says 0.8xx as default for 3000 memory. That is pretty much undervolted then I guess? If 2800 requires 1.25V.
From my understanding VCCIO voltage is the mem. controller and VCCSA is the "system agent", whatever that is... North bridge maybe?
Is...
This is a question for Raja@ASUS:
BIOS 0801, RVE. Settings (but it doesn't really matter what settings I think, same behaviour on any):
5960X, G.Skill 3000 C15 (4x4), MSI 780Ti GOP BIOS, XMP 125 x33, cache x24, CPU volt. 1.2V.
When just set up, the system boots normally to Win 8.1 update 2014...
I was too happy too early - "idling" in desktop at 25℃ room temp, get me a fixed 38℃ for XMP 3000 @ 125Hz x 33 and 4.125Ghz @ 1.2V (followed 'easy guide for 4.2'). Haven't tried load yet. Is this OK?
Also, Prime95 small test is not recommended I presume?
Is there a better cooler? Because, here the result is way better:
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/unlocked/intel-haswell-e-5960x-review-and-overclocking-benchmarks-idnum324/
Seems that 0801 BIOS made it far more stable. I'm now running XMP 125 x33 at 1.2V at 34℃ in BIOS. Seems pretty...
Well, there are reports that CPUs would get damaged (and pull MBO and mem with) while in BIOS. :) CPU works, voltages are applied, etc. During installation also, I'm not sure if I have installed it correctly. The instruction for Intel 2011 said to use short screws and retention piece (M part)...
So, going down to 2666 should solve the problem? Did that help?
ATM I have XMP running and CPU x30 to 3,75GHz, but the temperature is in idle desktop around 37-38 ℃.
I've solved this now with monitor in 1.1 mode, instead of 1.2. Works fine now.
Still, have problems clocking it. Even in BIOS, CPU temp is 36-38 C on 125x32 (XMP applied).
Stock + XMP works fine now, but temps are insane. Could be a bad setup of H110 (pull on top, radiator below fans, fans and...
Well there are Noctuas NF-A14 FLX... controlled from BIOS. Two of course, can't fit a push-pull sandwich in my case, MBO clearance to top :(
Anyway, even this way, I'm at 31-33 idle at 100Hz bus and 30 multiplier. 125 and 28 not good also, 36. If I put 125 x 32 (4GHz) that goes to 37-38 in...
