This was actually pretty interesting. His description of "back to reality" reminded me of coming back from a long deployment at sea, and how it feels like the ground is moving when you step back on to the pier.
All the comments about how the technology is not there are non-sequitur. The...
You default to private, you make the first available option "Share with all internal <enter company name here> only", and require a confirmation when sharing publicly. You would only have to do this with enterprise version. This would save the ignorant from themselves, and change your problem...
Don't let ______ babysit your kids. Enter anything media related, and you are doing well. Give them Legos, give them pets, give them outdoors. Most important, give them your undivided attention.
In a perfect world, their algorithm would help moderate the content. I did some dev work building...
Or, sometimes it's easier to buy the pizza oven and throw it away, if your business is selling sushi. I'm not sure the people they kept were the crust, or just people with flexible enough experience to do something else of value.
I'd be curious how the test was serviced to various users. If your entry point to the test while on a console was an ad while playing the game, you would get only players of said game taking a test on said game. Conversely, if those on a PC were brought to the test while browsing on, say, their...
I have the same for maintaining sanity on 18 hour flights. I think they are more than sufficient, but I also have no illusions of getting an audiophile experience on the go.
This is rad. I grew up on The Next Generation and I had a hard time enjoying anything after that. Now, cue the comparisons between Data now and twenty years ago... as advanced as robotics were in that universe, I can't imagine they would bake in aging.
Given the scarcity of full, dedicated, VR titles, this is a must. Most of the content is in various stages of alpha or beta release and it can be pretty easy to burn through the 5 titles. Even more so if you have kids, and need to get a different set of content for their consumption. I'm not...
This crap kills me. While it may be easy for me to know when I'm being sold something, my kids have a harder time distinguishing it. I don't let them watch Youtube unattended, but I still have to explain to them how disingenuous it is and it's like I just told them Santa isn't real.
I'll admit, I've been pretty unenthused by the game, a feeling which is disappointing in and of itself. Every Fallout game since 3 has sucked me in, made me want to procrastinate other responsibilities to get a few more minutes of playing time in. Not so much with 76.
Most irritating and...
I've used other hard tube kits, but this thing is, far and away, more complete. It may seem like a small thing, but including the gloves, for instance, means preventing two separate purchases. For someone just getting into hardline watercooling, it can be an overwhelming experience; saving them...
No. But, I'll go ahead and make a statement based on gut feelings too, since that seems the modus operandi. The few that do exist are likely experiencing a massive windfall, due to the tariffs, and are not likely feeling altruistic.
It's simple supply and demand here, limit the supply without...
I second what GreenOrbs said. I also have to say, most people here spend up to $150 for riveted 1/16th inch steel and plastic. Caselabs cases are 4mm aluminum without a single rivet or an ounce of plastic.
This is a sad day, and its made more sad by the fact that a US company, building...
I hate to be the stick in the mud, but we have a thread for pictures of your rig. This thread is more about where your rig lives.
Nice rig though sherbanater :)
There we go, now we can just send some poor untrained suckers to Mars and keep our highly-skilled (read expensive) staff back on Earth until we get it right. Science!
This. It doesn't even matter if its true, Pai didn't set the record straight. He didn't say "I didn't recognize it for it what it was, and that's my mistake." He said, "I just got here, it's not my fault."
I did say "consumer PC". I'm not ignorant to the diversification of Intel's business model, I just had hopes that a legitimate performance threat from AMD would make Intel do something other than heavy marketing on marginal increases to sell their products in the consumer space.
And there goes any hope that Intel might adjust their incremental improvement strategy in light of the fact they have real competition in the consumer PC space. When you flop and still make money, hand-over-fist, you have a real hard time believing your crap actually does stink.
Neat concept... too bad it was Lars talking about it. I put my prejudice aside and listened to the whole thing. Lars still sounds as douchy as he did back when he was busy trying to take down Napster.
I didn't realize this was the anniversary. Last night I stuck my son in a VR-tour with Buzz Aldrin that took him to the moon and Mars. Auspicious timing.
PFfff, ROTFLMAO, for anyone thinking , just because you've cut the cord, that you end up with an all access pass to streaming content without ads, upcharges, or stratification. Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney, Warner Bros... none of them are in this business to change the world; they are in this...
This is the new norm for the tech industry. Corporate espionage has always been a thing, but the Made in China 2025 initiative has brought it right out in the open. Instead of fingers crossed behind backs while saying "I promise I won't steal your stuff", China is saying "I will steal your stuff...
They aren't rejects, just different technologies with different strong points in their performance. The memories are designed for different things.
You don't see a lot of comparisons between DDR4 and GDDR5, and you can probably guess why when you see the performance numbers. Most of Nvidia's...
You say that, but it took 12 years for an iteration of the game to sell more than a million copies in the US and Europe (some more armchair analysis). I'm not foolish enough to think it is title alone, but 12 years to achieve market penetration on your best-selling title, and with a household...
Thanks for background. I got my wiki on and realized this was a console/portable title, which explains how this one has skated under the radar for me.
I still hold the title is ridiculous. It more or less ensures their market will be only people that were already familiar the game.
My son played this game for about a week before I said no more. Pretty much any game with an online communication feature is off the playlist. Smashbox Arena (VR) is still allowed, but only because I disabled the mic and he's only allowed to play if we are watching him.
I try not to shelter...
Linux does often feel like a procedurally-generated OS, and it makes it really difficult to find definitive answers. One other thing I think is missing for the majority of us that have tried (multiple times) to switch over, is the why? Chiefly, why am I struggling so hard to do things I've come...
They took that whole X-"box" thing rather literal, didn't they?
It is mostly for posterity's sake that one plays KOTOR II. Sadly, the magic simply didn't extend beyond the bounds of the first.
Looks like a bit of a misfire. Honestly though, this is kind of terrible. Japan is extremely adverse to the startup culture, and tends to dump all of that potential startup funding in to maintaining aging establishments instead. This is one more "I told you so" win for the status quo.
