    What is your backup GPU?

Geforce Now is my “backup GPU”, or there’s always XCom2 on my iPad. I tried Stadia, but not having my Steam library is a major issue. NVidia has steadily been improving their streaming. :)

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

Ryzen 3900x has 6% slower performance on average compared to 9900k in 36 games tested, no overclock needed. Is 3600x faster than that? Doubt it. The summary is on 7' 27'' mark.

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

Your Ti’s were faster because they were clocked higher than mine. I’ve never claimed that Ryzen is not good for gaming. All I said was that 3700x I bought was worse than my 4790k in low 1 and 0.1%. As it didn’t meet my expectations I got 9900k in the sale instead. I’m happy with the glitch...

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

Going from 4770k @ stock to 3700x you will see a big benefit. If you had your CPU heavily overclocked, you would be hard pushed to see a difference in single core. In multi-core, that's a different story, the extra cores are amazing. You would notice a big difference even with 3600x. Just ask...

Intel getting completely destroyed on Twitter

Wonders of having a real competition again, huh? 9900k was going Amazon briefly for £404. Thumbs up!

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

Yeah, it’s the door. Just watched the video. I got my numbers from DE:MD built-in benchmark, so that it’s easier to compare on any other hardware. If you could re-run that, fully OC’d, no v-sync, I’d be grateful. It would be good to see what good Ryzen samples are capable of.

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

It’s not RAM timings, it’s CPU and more specifically a single thread performance. Try other games, like DE:MD or DirectX11 games, like GR:W. For me and the games I play, 3700x without an overclock was a downgrade from 4790k @4.8GHz. Yes, extra cores helped, but smoothness they bring get...

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

Having looked again I noticed that you run single thread bench, so my bad. I thought it was MT. Good for you. At 4k you shouldn't notice any CPU bottleneck in low 1%. I noticed fair bit even in 1440p.

Who's Happy So Far with Ryzen 3000 Series?

You lucky so and so! :-D If my 3700x boosted that well I’d have kept it. If my RAM worked at 3600MHz and not just at 3200MHz, I’d have kept it. If AMD RAID worked reliably I’d have kept it. Rant over. EDIT: Just watched your first video and noticed that yes two cores boosted well, but the...

    9900k or 3800x

It works ok, but not great, I tried it with 3700x. Wildlands uses DirectX 11 engine. 1% lows will suffer. I had to overclock it to get my lows back up to my previous 4790k @4.8GHz. One of the reasons why I went for 9900k in the end. That’s on 1440p mind.

    9900k or 3800x

Here's something that could help. I know this thread isn't about 3700x, but here's a result of overclocked 3700x ~@4250Mhz in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided compared to 9900k @ 5 Ghz on ultra at 1440p, using overclocked 1080Ti.

    9900k or 3800x

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a 4K screen, but my entertainment budget can’t stretch to 2080ti :-) My ultimate screen would be 4 to 5K, but hiDPI. I occasionally use DSR to prettify my 1440p, for now. Just saying.

    9900k or 3800x

Back in the day I consistently beat my friends that were on Intel 386 on LAN parties playing DOOM2 on my 486. When we swap seats I consistently lost ALL matches. The frames matter. A lot. Whether there is a limit at which it doesn’t matter, please let me know if you find out.

    3700X vs 3800X

On my (old) 3700x I got the same results with just enabling PBO and setting it to “motherboard” performance limit on stock cooler. 3800x is a waste of money IMHO. Manual overclock will limit single core boost.

Super close indeed. For non-gaming workloads, AMD all the way. For gaming on 1080p with average graphics, get AMD. To get the most out of your flagship graphics card, get Intel CPU. 36 Games Benchmarked: Ryzen 9 3900X vs. Core i9-9900K The summary is on 7' 27'' mark. The most balanced review...

Ryzen 3000 hype and review oddities

Depending on what graphics card you use (1080ti in my case), you will get slight CPU bottleneck on 1440p as well with 3700x. Some game engines are still so single thread bound (I'm looking at you, Ghost Recon: Wildlands).

Ryzen 3000 hype and review oddities

Same here, but on this board you have to short CMOS pins every time to reset it as it wont POST. It stays locked up, it won’t auto detect lockup and recover. After 50th reset you’ll be reaching for tranquillisers. Also, Ryzen is a different beast. The closest comparison I can make is to an...

Ryzen 3000 hype and review oddities

I made a mistake of being an early adopter and I bought into the hype. Should’ve waited. I could have stayed with Ryzen, just slapping a better cooler on it, sure. I could have tinkered, but don’t have the patience for crap, glitchy tech. I guessed what rubbed be the wrong way most is that I...

Ryzen 3000 hype and review oddities

UPDATE on my Ryzen adventure: ========================== Bought 3700x, 16GB 3.2GHz RAM with CL14 and MSI X570-A PRO board. It worked well until I wanted more single core performance out of it. Gone from 4790k @4.8GHz that I bought four years ago to 3700x, with 2x 8GB FlareX 3200 CL14. Reusing all other gear: quite a few NVMe sticks, SSDs, RAID 1 of 2x 3TB HDDs, SoundBlaster (modulates 5.1 audio to stereo headphones) and 1080ti for graphics. Saw big improvement on most game titles, as...

LGA1150 mobo with 4790k died, upgrade or buy refurbished mobo?

As much I don’t like the idea of buying a refurbished mobo, it’s preferable to buying a new hardware that I don’t actually want. It is worth waiting for something that I want to keep for another 4-5 years. Your point about the resale of my old hardware is something I haven’t considered and it’s...

LGA1150 mobo with 4790k died, upgrade or buy refurbished mobo?

Hello, My mobo has finally given up the ghost. CPU appears ok, had it OC’d to 4.8GHz stable. Got 1080ti and I use it primarily for gaming. Got 1440p 144Hz monitor with G-Sync and loving it. Two issues: 1. Can’t buy decent LGA1150 mobo anymore (z97) - the cheapest option, IF I could find a...

Crysis 3 Video Card Performance and IQ Review @ [H]

Nvidia Experience software provides very nice optimisation profile for this game. I plays fine in 2560x1440 @ 50-60fps average. I found that this game is very CPU bound. When I my remove my CPU OC, the game runs like a dog. It's high thread performance and low latency this game needs, as with...
