FS: 14 X Dell EMC VXFlex IR R640 VXRACK , multiple servers with multiple configurations

I have 14 of these total, picked up from a customer recycling that I did some work for. All of them are working pulls, just out of warranty in 2023. I considered refurbishing them for eBay or local sale, but I'm moving yet again and I don't have the time or inclination for that amount of work...

Mowing over high PPD folders from yesteryear

Man, I remember when I broke top 100. Wasn't even a year after that curecoin came out and everybody mowed me down. I've fallen a bit down the charts since that happened: Rank 705 of 2,935,669 I have earned 3,023,470,169 points by contributing 63,021 work units. My work unit was last recorded...

Hit a WCG (World Community Grid) milestone? Post it here:

I'm glad the forum is still active. Just put 24 cores back on WCG, you know, to help heat my living room. ;)

Combined COVID-19 thread for DC updates

Thank you Gilthanis for keeping us informed and organized. I've put some effort into F@H and WCG since this started, signs point to an effective vaccine starting to roll out by end of year. I'll keep the farm going until spring, the office can use the heat anyway.

    Folding@home top 10 teams

I cranked up the 1080 Ti and four 980s for F@H again a while ago. Hopefully that gives us a boost. Maybe about 3-4 mil per day or so.

Combined COVID-19 thread for DC updates

Why link the Parabricks software? For a second, I thought Nvidia had thrown their hat into the DC world, but it looks like it's just for researchers. Do we have people here in that field?

Looking for Xeon E5-2687W v3 or v4 or equivalent, need two.

Thank you for the advice. I probably don't need the extra core count, but I am trying to keep up with WCG in the wake of a server crash. So I figured I'd start at the top and work down. That is a good model, and probably way more affordable, so it would be a good second choice.

Still looking. I'd hate to resort to eBay if someone around here has these.

Looking for Xeon E5-2687W v3 or v4 or equivalent, need two.

I've got two Xeon ES chips that are 8 core currently, and they have a decent turbo, but I'm looking for a boos in single-threaded apps. So I need a matched pair of E5-2687W v3 or v4 or equivalent. I'll gladly throw in the 8-core chips for someone needing lower-end replacements for the chips...

    I'm leaving IT ...

Congrats! I tried to combine the two, working in health IT for a while, but I didn't enjoy the people I was working for, so I'm focused more on my small business startup support. That's awesome, though. I hope it is as rewarding as it can be. I've worked in the health field before, for a...

I'm from Iowa. I've lived in Iowa most of my life, apart from vacations military service. I was stationed at Camp Dodge, STARC Armory building as a combat medic. I'm sure if you lived in Des Moines you went to the mile long bridge? If so, you drove right past my duty station. I grew up in a...

Vote: DC'er of the Month: December 2018

Couldn't post before today, but here's my surprise. I've been trying to get the word out about the team and about WCG as a way to contribute to science and medicine. Having been a combat medic in the Army, and seeing many of my peers retire too early because of one condition or another, this...

Thanks for the nom. I've got a surprise for the voting thread. I tried raising awareness for the team publicly earlier this year. I'll reveal when the trash-talking starts. Don't want to give it away too early.

Looking for DDR4 ECC, 4 sticks.

I'm putting together another 2P and I need 4 sticks of DDR4 ECC, 8 GB or 16GB sticks, matching preferred. RAM prices are insane right now, so I thought I'd check here first. I'm buying soon, so if you have some let me know ASAP. I would entertain 8 sticks of 8GB as well, for the right price.

Hit a WCG (World Community Grid) milestone? Post it here:

Hit the 20 Million mark on WCG shortly before I hit the 2 Billion mark on F@H. Can't wait until WCG gets a GPU client. Congrats to everyone hitting milestones recently. It's good to see that we can come together on great causes.

Hit a Folding (Stanford) milestone? Post it here:

This is likely my last post on this particular thread. I've hit the 2 Billion mark. I've decided to pause F@H for a while. The curecoin contributors have more than made up for the loss of my two video cards, and I've decided to move to WCG and other BOINC projects as my primary focus. Wish...

WTB E5-2695 V4 or better (or equivalent) for WCG and other DC projects

Looking for an upgrade from my current V3 procs. Seeking E5-2695 v4 or better or equivalent like ES (Extra Spicy) to double the horsepower. Looking for pairs that ideally have been tested in a 2P system already. My current chips QEYX (8-core 1.8) are in an AsRock EP2C612 WS ( CPU SUPPORT LINK...

    Data privacy ...

Damn, no wonder I haven't been seeing my stats update. Yeah, that really puts a damper on competitions. If everyone follows suit, BOINC in general could see a huge hit in contributions. Not only from people who were doing it for the fun of the competition, but from others like myself who...

Thanks atp1916. I'm waiting to get the new mobo until they arrive. I brought home my portable HVAC from my office to cool down my home office, just have to find a way to pipe it into the existing ductwork and I should be able to keep my office under 80 with the new rigs at load.

Spam leaking over from the Distributed Computing forum?

What do you mean by stealing? If you mean people that convince others to donate CPU and GPU resources in an effort to solve worldwide problems including cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, AIDS, Zika, tuberculosis, and a list too long to write; then I think you're confusing stealing with trying to...
