Nexenta 4 and Mac OS X

Anyone used Nexenta 4 and gotten it to work SMB2 with Mac OS X? No matter what I have tried, I can only ever get it to write to a share, never read from one. I have all the ACL's blasted with full permissions for my logged in user (and everyone@). I have the CIFS server joined to a workgroup...

    Solaris 11.1 / Netatalk 3.02 ACL issues

nle - unfortunately my solution ended up being to stop using Netatalk altogether. I took a hit on throughput using SMB1 on my mac (tops out at around 60MB/s). I am also using OmniOS now. I'm currently waiting for SMB2 to hit from Nexenta and be pulled into OmniOS, that will even things out...

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

Has anyone gotten FTP properly set up on OmniOS? I have found zero documentation in the weeks I have been googling and messing around (with omnios, nexenta, freebsd, s11.1, all over the board). S11.1 I had FTP up and running (chroots and all) pretty fast - proFTPd is pretty nice built-in like...

    Solaris 11.1 / Netatalk 3.02 ACL issues

NBMAND is already off ACLINHERIT is set to passthrough, as noted previously Doesn't netatalk compile natively with ACL support through your install script?

    Solaris 11.1 / Netatalk 3.02 ACL issues

Hope you guys have been enjoying the new year. I ran into a small issue that I'm ashamed to say I haven't been able to solve. Every time I create a new file via Netatalk on my ZFS array, the ACL's are getting defaulted rather than inheriting as they're supposed to. ZFS...

    Solaris 11.1 Netatalk 3.0.1 Broken

_Gea, Thank you thank you thank you! Simple, quick, and worked like a champ. Now I just have to figure out why none of the ACLs are passing through properly on the ZFS volume under AFP (yes aclinherit and aclmode are both set to passthrough). CIFS works fine, as expected. It doesn't even...

    Solaris 11.1 Netatalk 3.0.1 Broken

As an update for the curious - looks like this is an official netatalk bug with zeroconf (mDNSResponder BUG#443). It's been patched in git already, so I guess the next point release should fix it. Cross your fingers Solaris/Mac users.

    Solaris 11.1 Netatalk 3.0.1 Broken

Thanks _Gea - it's good to know I'm not the only one having this issue. For now I guess I will have to limp along on CIFS until the netatalk team figures something out.

    Solaris 11.1 Netatalk 3.0.1 Broken

Wow guys really? Nothing after 88 views? I've already sifted through /etc/pam.d/netatalk and found nothing of note there. This is a fresh install of 11.1, only things installed are napp-it (via wget -O - www.napp-it.org/nappit | perl), netatalk 3.0.1 (via wget -O - www.napp-it.org/afp | perl)...

    Solaris 11.1 Netatalk 3.0.1 Broken

After doing a fresh install of Solaris 11.1 and firing off the AFP script for napp-it, I noticed that I cannot login or access my AFP shares. I have not been able to figure out what is going on. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks to some footnotes on the napp-it site, I have CIFS...

    erratic read speeds openindiana

Went back through the thread and saw this - my experiences match yours perfectly (though I don't seem to have the stock of SSDs that you have to play with). I particularly paid attention to that last part. Were you able to indeed get full gigabit bandwidth out of that 2x SSD mirror? This is...

    erratic read speeds openindiana

Mark, I think I may have an answer for you - and it's stemming from my research with my 3x WD30EZRX disks in my box at home (Xeon E3-1240, 16 GB ECC DDR1333, Intel C204 Chipset, SATA AHCI, 3x WD30EZRX in triple mirror, Intel Larsen Creek 20GB SLC boot drive). I had the exact same issues that...

    erratic read speeds openindiana

I always set atime=off on my pools, to eliminate nuisance writes (I don't have any DBs or anything that would care about atime anyways). It doesn't appear that ZFS is letting the heads park - I see pretty even distribution of IOs in iostat, with svc_t averaging like 5 ms per disk, slowly...

    Solaris 11 Spiky CIFS Throughput

brutalizer, I should probably clarify that this is happening with reads, not writes. Writes appear to be around 8x-9x% of gigabit throughput, then of course write throttle kicks in and lags it down every 5 secs or so (and the txg commits), then picks back up again. That much I expected...

    Hey guys, I have a bit of an issue with Solaris 11 11/11 running on a... Dell Poweredge 2950 2x Xeon 5160 (3.0GHz, Dual-Core) 16 GB RAM (4 x 4GB) 2x Integrated Broadcom Netxtreme II NICs LSI SAS 9201-16e Norco DS12-D 2x Intel 330 Series 120GB (mirrored boot) 6x Seagate 3TB...

    erratic read speeds openindiana

Nutnut, I'm having the exact same issues (and more) with Solaris 11 and derivatives on my boxes as well. Pool throughput seems to lag down, but ARC hits can flood the wire. I have more than plenty read speed on the disks (900MB/s scrub speeds from 6 disks in triple mirror), and still can't...
