You have to use boot camp and as far as I know you have to keep OS X installed and then you can choose between them when booting.
Some 15" MacBooks are 1680x1050p.
Good decision. That was some really spendy ram you had there.
I have been running 1.65 on my Ivy 3570k @ 4.7 Ghz without issues since it released last spring.
( G.Skill 2133 2x 4 Gb kit 9-10-11 )
I agree the Mighty Mouse was a total FAIL. Mostly due to the tracking ball gumming up at the drop of a hat.
I have the Magic Touchpad now, it is REALLY nice. No more mouse gumming up and gestures too. Time Capsule also sucked because mine burned itself up do to the junky power supply.
And last...
Just wanted to add that I have been running a dual band Airport Extreme since they came out and I am very happy with it. It just works, no need to reset or mess with it at all.
I had a time capsule and the heat killed it dead.
I guess it's a known issue with them, I went to a Airport Extreme dual band and it's great. No heat issues and can do all the same as the TC.
If you look here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77E-ITX/?cat=CPU
You will see that some xeon cpu's are indeed supported on the board, as are these memory modules specifically: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77E-ITX/?cat=Memory
While most non server boards don't list ECC ram compatibility...
Just wanted to add, 2x8 Gb would be better if you are seeking to over clock your memory. Otherwise there is no downside to running 4x4 Gb.
I have my 4x 4Gb Samsung 30nm sticks running at 2133 cas11 on sandy bridge with no issues.
I only add this because you said you may fold some, and folding...
Sweet build.
Have you thought of going one less radiator? That would give you a lot more flexibility with your rad placement and would still be totally overkill for an Ivy Bridge and gtx600.
Just saying...
Keeping an eye on this one...
In your case, I would look at putting just the pc on a UPS.
Consumer electronics, like your mini Hi-Fi, are generally pretty well protected from any damage due to power loss. In the case of your new PC, it is many times more intricate having some billions of transistors inside of it.
What I...
Just wanted to add that if your HDD goes bad, you can even reinstall OS X over the internet. Just install the new HDD and boot the machine with a network connection and the system will connect to Apple and verify your computer. Once that has happened, it will download an installer and you can...
Your gonna need an OSX Leopard disk if you need to wipe the HD.
But if you just create a new user, and the switch to it, and then delete the "old" user account, you can have an almost new installation without the need to reinstall.
Now if there is some problem with the installation, then you...
Check your bios for fan xpert settings.
You may them tuned off. Did you recently update your bios?
Else check the fans on a different power source and lastly check the mb headers with a multimeter.
I installed this on my 1p Debian 6 machine, and it turned on DLB within the first 20 seconds.
It was interesting watching the load variance in top, good work guys.
I'll report back on if it made a difference in TPF or not....
I just wanted to add in to this thread. I bought one from my local MC today, they had around 20 of them sitting in a pile out on the sales floor.
I have a 25" hp x2511 that I replaced with this and so far it's much nicer.
Playing games is a treat and my little old gtx460 does better than I...
I just wanted to add that the Samsung memory is an excellent choice as it gives you future options for over clocking. I have seen one application, actually two, where faster ram makes a "real world" difference: The first is IBT. You can definitely measure the increase in Gflops capability.
The...
Hey,
You can totally turn that thing up some more. I have a 2600k that has been running at 1.495 vcore since it came out. Mine only reaches 4.7 Ghz at that vcore though.
Just something to consider......
It can take it.
